2018 911 GT3 laps the Nürburgring's Nordschleife 12 seconds faster
The new Porsche 911 GT3 recorded a 7 minutes and 12.7 second lap at the legendary Nürburgring's Nordschleife - not too bad for a street-legal car.
The lap time was 12.3 seconds faster than the previous generation 911 GT3's record.
The rear-axle steering 911 GT3 comes with a 500 horsepower, high-revving, naturally aspirated flat-six engine, paired with a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung dual-clutch transmission.
For the lap that clocked the best 911 GT3 time, the car sported Michelin Sport Cup 2 N1 tires, and the GT3 took to the track in the Eifel region production specifications. The ambient temperature was 46 degrees Fahrenheit and the track temperature 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The conditions were ideal.
The 7 minutes must have been exhilarating. Did I mention that the car is street-legal?
