Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=Poor
Pros: What do you like about your 2006 Nissan Maxima?
I love this car. I had a 97 Maxima and put 344,000 miles on it. It never saw a repair shop. I had to buy another one. I didn't even compare other models.
The car is sharp to look at. I love the big wheels and the roominess in the cabin, as does my golden retriever. I like the modernness of the instrument panel. The car can more than hold its own against its much more expensive counterparts. I love the auto stick on the out of the way windy roads.
The car pretty much does everything for me. It dims the mirrors, defrosts the side mirrors, turns on the lights and adjusts the temp in the cabin.
It is a smart car. Maybe smarter than I want it to be though.
Cons: How would you improve your 2006 Nissan Maxima?
Considering the amount of driving I do, the seats are my biggest complaint. My legs fall asleep when I'm driving. The seats don't go into the position I want. my old Maxima did. My 97 Maxima had much more comfy seats for long drives.
The turning radius is something that takes time to adjust to. It has to be one of the worst on the road.
The AC likes to turn on by itself. I understand that the AC is needed to defrost windows, but it does it all the time.
The transmission is very jumpy at low speeds. It's like the car is trying to tell me to drive fast, which it is very good at doing.
I don't like the brake assist. I know how to operate brakes and don't need help in that department.
2006 Nissan Maxima Review:
I would recommend this car to anyone in need of a fun car to drive that has a kid or 2 to transport. It is a very roomy car. I cant even reach the back ceiling light from the driver seat.
I love how the car looks. It's the best design that Nissan has even made, including the new Maxima. The day I drove it home, I had a couple follow me to a parking lot just to tell me how pretty my car was, then they drove off. It looks fast and doesn't disappoint.
Every time I drive it I'm tempted to blow the doors off whatever car is sitting next to me at a traffic light. I don't because I'm a good driver : )
I have driven my last 2 Maximas 500,000 miles (97 & 06) without ANY problems. Neither car has ever seen a repair shop for anything other than routine maintenance. I have owned 2 Hondas and 2 Toyotas and cannot say the same thing about them. The biggest plus is no time belt to change every 60,000 miles. Maximas have timing chains which never need to be replaced with routine oil changes. On average, I change my oil every 7000-8000 miles.
I think it's one of the best made cars on the road. They invented to 3.0 V6 back in 1994 that every other company copied. Now they have the best 3.5 V6 that everyone is also copying. When it comes to performance engines, they are definitely the leader.
