Review Guide:
5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=Poor

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Mercury Mariner?
Just had it a few days used with 34,000 miles.
Handles well, good use of interior space, leg room and rear.
Interior & exterior visibility good. And in good shape.
Most freeway driving seems smooth.
Dash includes temp, compass. AC.
Mechanically so far quiet and responsive.
Turning circle good.
Concise good looking smaller SUV & has the potential to be a great SUV.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Mercury Mariner?
Ride seems hard and balanced tire pressure is essential.
Seats are very basic and have concerns about comfort on long distance driving trips.
Everything you need is there but seems like they cut corners on comfort, and wherever else they could - grab handles.
Will the AC & engine cope with a hot Texas summer???

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2005 Mercury Mariner?
Bought it new July 05. Have not had any problems with it, except tires were very noisy - replace tires at 22,000 and alignment tires with continental.
Replace battery at 50,000 no other problems.
Paint nice and still bright (satellite silver clearcoat). Interior black/black leather and looks like new.
It is a premier 4x2 fully loaded v6 average city 20/21
highway 24/26.
I love the little suv wish they still made them.
I'm going to keep it 'till it stops running or I wreck it.
56,000 miles now.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Mercury Mariner?
Noisy cabin - need to reduce it and now have a noisy dash. Our vibration coming from somewhere in the front at about speed of 60 miles per hr.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Mercury Mariner?
10/25/2011: Heated leather seats warm up quickly; handling is smooth and it steers like my VW bug. I like the sunrooof and interior layout; backup sound to alert when to close to an object is helpful. I have not driven it yet in winter but will post comments if any then (Winter 2012).
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Mercury Mariner?
This vehicle is an SUV and as such, should have grab bars aka 'jesus' handles as standard. There is nothing to grab on to for passengers - as the vehicle goes around corners. Also, the gas cap does NOT lock...why not? Shouldn't that be standard, also? The rear back-up lights are dim and could be brighter for enhanced safety. Seats are nice - but very FIRM - fine if you like that but after driving for an hour or so a little more cushion would make for a more comfortable ride. Some of the trim pieces seem plastic-y; the driver's windshield dash trim is loose and warped.
2008 Mercury Mariner Review:
I like this vehicle but am not IN LOVE with it. Bought it used with 25K miles on it. So far (in one month) I have had to bring it back to dealer for a replacement battery, as the car stranded me 4 times in a month. So far so good with the car starting up again.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2005 Mercury Mariner?
Original tires at 49000--will probably get another 3 or 4 thousand out of them.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Mercury Mariner?
Noticed rust 39 months into ownership--took it back to dealership who quickly pointed out that I was 3 months past the warranty period. They would fix it for a $1000.00. I said doesn't Mercury stand behind their product? I guess not.
With a quirky transmission I should have traded it in when they were offering cash for clunkers. Foolish me now I have a rust bucket with a jerky transmission. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A MERCURY OR OTHER AMERICAN CAR!!!!
2005 Mercury Mariner Review:
WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN, SO NEITHER SHOULD YOU.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Mercury Mariner?
The style looks great (exterior and interior).
My gas mileage for the 6 cylinder 2wd Premier is about 22 mpg.
Just as much comfortable as the Explorer.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Mercury Mariner?
Interior is way to noisy.
It's difficult to know when the sun roof is closed properly.
Wheels are difficult to keep cleaned.
2006 Mercury Mariner Review:
Performance is better than a Ford Explorer. Just as much luxury.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2007 Mercury Mariner?
The performance is good on highway.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Mercury Mariner?
The leather seats are extremely uncomfortable and hard.
The ride is loud.
2007 Mercury Mariner Review:
I would not purchase another one.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2009 Mercury Mariner?
Love the stylish look.
The interior is great.
Love sync.
2009 Mercury Mariner Review:
I have had a clunking sound after the first 3000 miles every time I slow down. The dealership says there is nothing wrong, yet a few months later Ford sent owners notices and recalibrated all the Mariner transmissions. It did not fix the problem. Shifts smoothly, just the clunk. Dealership says Ford will not fix it. I buy a new car every 2-3 years so that I don't have worries. I always wonder when I am going to have to be towed in this Mariner. Looking on the internet, seems there are many, many unhappy Mariner owners. This makes me not willing to buy a Ford product again. I am going to start shopping so I can trade the Mariner in before the issue worsens!

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Mercury Mariner?
Great tires.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Mercury Mariner?
They should have disc brakes on the rear.
The paint is thin on the rear roof.
The interior head liner at the rear hatch coming out of gasket.
Air condition and transmission use the same cooler radiator, bad news on hot days.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Mercury Mariner?
Easy to drive and look at.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Mercury Mariner?
Bigger gas tank to extends time between fill-ups.
Transmission crapped out at 40K miles and Ford would not take any warranty responsibility.
2008 Mercury Mariner Review:
Have had transmission problems since vehicle was new when it finally gave out, only 5K beyond warranty and less than two years old, Ford would not take warranty responsibility.
Factory Rep. stated that Ford could not take responsibility for their vehicle's components lasting beyond the warranty period. Based upon that statement Why would anyone ever buy another Ford Product!

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=Poor2008 Mercury Mariner Review:
Won't start, took it in many times. Something to do with the theft system. They can't figure it out. Now they want to replace the dash cluster. You never now when it will start sometimes it once a week, so they can't figure it out when it doesn't happen to them. This is very frustrating! Also the cloth seats show water marks.
