Review Guide:
5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=Poor

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid?
I have 235000 miles on mine and the only mtc or repair required was new brakes at 130000! The vehicle still looks nice, rides smooth and has been wonderfully reliable for me.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid?
More cup holders.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
The performance is terrific.
The fuel economy is great.
My vehicle has 78000 miles and still has the original brake pads and only the second set of tires.
Other then change the oil and keeping fluid levels up, it is worry free.
Had to have the battery harness changed.
Great vehicle for the dollars spent.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Interior cargo space could be larger.
2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Great vehicle. Performs great on the highway as well as in town driving.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Escape with mileage of an Escort.
Fun in the snow.
Nice torque from battery.
All four wheels spin in icy conditions.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Poor mileage performance in cold.
Battery and charging system works poorly and very inconsistent below 50 degrees.
2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Have 91000 miles on now. Brakes will be replaced for the first time. Replaced left and right inner/outer tie rods at 80000. ABS and traction control went nuts resulting replacing "tone ring", $32 part. Will be replacing front struts also.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Comfort.
Quiet (gas engine too!).
Trim is a good size.
Smooth ride.
MPG is as advertised (31hwy/37city)---depends on driver.
Simple interior and gadgets.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Worried about battery life and cost of replacement.
2007 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I just purchased this vehicle today on 4/5/10 and am very impressed. The dealership was 50 miles from my home and I did not even see the gas gauge move on the freeway or in the city. If you drive the posted speed limits and do not accelerate quickly, you will always get the best gas mileage for this vehicle.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Good mpg compared to other SUV's. After 4 years, overall avg is 29 mpg.
Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Have it made by a reliable, non-union Asian car company that produces quality, low maintenance/repair vehicles or that don't use shoddy, failure-prone components. At least if Ford is going to use cheap components they could increase their warranty from 3/36 to 5/60 or more. It was a complete rip-off to have to replace the front left bearing at 39,000 miles in 2 years (3000 miles out of warranty sir, please fork over $800), then one year later have to replace it again!
2005 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I've lost all the money I've saved on gas by replacing the front bearings twice ($700+/incident) and now the brake master cylinder ($1500). I've driven 5 other cars in 28 years of driving and have never had to replace a wheel bearing or a master cylinder. I've done this all in 4 years and 60,000 miles.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
I love the gas milage on the car. I have cut down on my gas costs alot since I purchased the car. Drives well and has a great warranty.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Acceleration. It is a bit slow because it is a hybrid
2008 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
I would recommend this car to anyone looking to help the environment and drive a stylish vehicle.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
It drives really nicely, is very quiet and is comfortable. But more importantly for a hybrid, it has giddyup and gets decent mileage.
It is able to accelerate quickly when needed, merge into traffic, for example.
The standard radio also has great sound and plays mp3 CD's, a feature I really like.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Make it get better mileage!
It's very sensitive with the battery vs. engine. If you hit the gas just a little too hard, it'll turn on the engine. Also, the engine automatically kicks on at 40mph.
In severely cold weather it also stays in engine mode most of the time since the engine never gets warm enough to switch to battery. I found that annoying this winter, and it really knocked down my mpg's.
Also, the 110 AC outlet is too weak - it can't even heat up water in an electric kettle.
Last thing, if you fold the seats down, there's nowhere to put the headrests.
2006 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Overall I am happy with the Escape Hybrid. It doesn't get as good mileage as I was hoping for though. I get 25mpg on the highway (75mph driving) and 28mpg on my commute to work (mixture of highway and local, with traffic lights).
If you drive mostly on the highways, stick with an economy car like a Civic or Jetta for great mileage. If you do a lot of local driving, and sit in traffic a lot - you'll get great mileage.
Despite that though, every time I'm at a red light and it goes to battery, I feel really good about myself.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid?
It handles well and has good acceleration when asked. The ride is smooth and quiet inside though there is a surprising amount of engine noise to someone standing outside. Gas mileage on a commute that is a mix of highway and city is in the 32-34 mpg range.
Cons: How would you improve 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid?
When on electric, the AC compressor is not running and so if you are not interested in the interior heating up uncomfortably, you have to switch to 'Max AC' which kicks the gas motor on all of the time including idle times. Similarly, the defroster requires the gas engine to be on even at idle and that is at odds with fuel efficiency. An electric compressor would have eliminated this situation. I would also have liked a toggle so that I could choose to run in electric mode only rather than hagving to feather the accelerator to keep the engine from kicking in at neighborhood/downtown speeds.
2007 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
It was/is clealy the best choice for my needs with a wife who does not like riding "low" in a sedan on roads loaded with trucks, vans and SUV's.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
It is a fun vehicle to drive..easy in traffic, plenty of interior room, lots of pickup for a small SUV, and love the color green!
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
The "winter" gas mileage is misleading..it isn't good. It's more of a warm weather vehicle...gas mileage questionable. I would love to see that improved.
2008 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
Overall, I love my escape hybrid, but naturally disappointed in the poor gas mileage in the cold. Never fear, warm weather will be here eventually!

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
The lines are strong for 2008 - higher-set doors, hoodline, front-end. My wife and I love the new styling. The fule economy is great for a smaller SUV.
Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid?
Front-seat interior room is limited - not much room for turning around in your seat or storage for extras I've become accostomed to carrying in the front of the car with me. I traded in a Chevy Suburban for the fuel economy - but feel cramped in this front seat area.
2008 Ford Escape Hybrid Review:
To compare this vehicle to it's competition - the Saturn VUE, and the Toyota Highlander, Ford Escape Hybrid steps out and away the winner in my eyes. Fit and finish are superior to the Saturn and the price difference makes the Toyota Hybrid SUV out of our reach - we are satisfied we made a good choice and after 9,000 miles, have NO complaints with its performance.
