Overall a great car for the real world. The VW is comfortable for four, turns into a mini-SUV when one needs to haul stuff, and with the DSG transmission a fantastically fun driver. Also has the best seats I have ever experienced and that includes Jags, Hondas, Bimmers, etc. And maybe the best all around gas mileage I've had a in car.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Volkswagen GTI?
The interior could use some brighter colored features; a little dour even with the throwback plaid interior. Also the ipod adapter is old, poorly designed, and prone to problems.

In short this is one great car. Unique in styling, extremely comfortable without giving up a sporting edge and with the rear seats folded down, a terrific stuff hauler.
Tight body too.

Volkswagen should consider making this a two-seater. It would be lighter, faster, and more unique.

I really have no complains. I love my GTI. I drove a Rabbit a long time ago, and GTI really is the luxury sporty version plus whatever Rabbit can offer.

I would recommend GTI to anyone, except, then everyone would have one, and my GTI would not feel unique anymore in our parking garage.

2009 Volkswagen GTI Review:
Best car I've ever owned. This is the perfect city car for a single guy. The size is just about right, and it has enough torque to steer through the city obstacles. I haven't had a long trip on freeways yet, so I'll report back when that happens.

Handles very well, great acceleration, nice upscale feel, great stereo, AC is great, we hit 92 today, remained nice and cool. The car is a lot faster than it feels during normal driving, I have noticed with what feels like normal acceleration the traffic next to me at the stop light ends up a few hundred yards behind fairly quick, and that's not pushing the pedal much.

Put radio station changing controls on the steering wheel (CD too).

Overall, I don't know how you could find a better sports/everyday driving car, long trips, city streets, freeway merging, stopping, great cornering fun..( S curves are a blast.) It's a complete package.

Fast, safe, comfortable, reliable, LOVE IT! Adjusting headlights like Mercedes' models and heated seats, excellent for the blistering winter days. Did I mention I love it?

Center of gravity is a bit high compared to other "performance" vehicles.

2009 Volkswagen GTI Review:
First of all this car's fast and SAFE. Six airbags all around you PLUS it's a quality car that holds its value. I've driven Hondas, Acuras, Saturns etc., but nothing quite compares to the VW's handling and style. Definitely a totally different outlook on cars compared to other companies! It's got power that'll throw you back in your seat but stops on a dime. A head-turner on the streets and a car you'll grow to love. Nothing feels better than seeing another VW on the street throwing you the peace sign :)
