| Pros: What do you like about 2009 Toyota RAV4?
I have had Hondas and Acuras since 1985 and switched to the Toyota Rav4 over the Honda CRV primarily because of the look, larger cargo space, V6 engine with better mpg than the 4 cylinder CRV.
It is a smooth and easy drive.
Haven't found it top heavy.

Really dislike the dealership and had horrible sales experience. If it weren't for the vehicle qualities, I would have sold the vehicle back. I asked for Bluetooth on the wheel and rear backup camera on navigation system. I was told both would be added but bluetooth capability was not available on the wheel and had to install after market navigation system to get bluetooth capability and backup camera on navigation system.
If you are over 40, backup camera on rearview mirror isn't good as looking in mirror from top of glasses does not allow for near vision viewing and is, thus, dangerous.
I haven't found road noise to be too bad but I do have a hearing problem. I will probably add another layer of undercoating to help with that for when I wear my hearing aids and for passenger comfort.
I am now concerned about the 2009 RAV4 accelerator safety issue. 2009 Toyota RAV4 Review:
It is a good vehicle, overall.
I did a very intensive comparison of the CRV and RAV4 before purchasing. If the CRV had a V6 option, better gas mileage, more cargo space, and body-colored lower body, I would probably purchase that in the future as I loved my Honda dealer.
I'm concerned about the RAV4 accelerator safety issue.
Would I purchase again-questionable at this point. |

I had 5 CRVs since the first model came out about 10 years ago. At one time both my wife and I had CRVs. Basically the Honda sales manager was rude and very pushy so I went up to the Toyota dealer and they were having a great lease deal (It beat the CRV deal by almost $100 per month). In addition, I got leather and lots of extras that the EX CRV model did not have. When I saw the Toyota dealer a few days after the sale, he ask me if I liked the car and all I could say was that I loved it! I don't miss the CRV and I don't miss the pushy sales manager at the Honda dealership. |

Manageable Car Size.
Great Looking outside and inside.
Good handling even in bad weather.
We were afraid the ride may be bumpy like a Jeep Liberty (car sickness) but it wasn't for my family.
Great gas mileage, better than my 05 Honda Accord!
Very Good cargo space.
Very comfortable seats for long trips (used it for a 7 hour trip).

Radio reception system could be better but the CD player was fine.

Overall I was very impressed with this SUV because it didn't ride, feel and handle like a lumbering SUV. I would get another RAV4. |

This is addressed to the previous commentator(s?) - complaining about a "bumpy ride" and "poor suspension" - get the tires checked (are they the right ones, worn or ripped?) and get the suspension geometry set properly.
Toyota does NOT sell SUVs with crippled suspension.
The RAV4 has been an international worldwide best seller for over 10 years - for the simple reason they got it right first time. It was an innovation in car design on its arrival and still cited as such to this day.

Cons: the latest design is angular and awkward, but I hear a new design is on its way.
Discontinuing the cute two-door version was a serious error of judgment considering so many drivers now want to downsize SUVs, Americans included. In fact, the two-door version was always very popular in the UK and Europe because of the narrow roads there, and its superb handling and gas mileage.

I love the extra room.
Excellent engine (V6).
Great looking small SUV.
Average mileage so far is 25.1, mostly highway.
Hopefully the 4x4 will prove its worth this winter.

I have one light on a power button that is not working but that will be easy to fix.
Standard Audio system is not the best but it will do for now.

I purchased a 2009 Rav4 with 3rd row seats. V6 power is excellent and the reason for getting this engine. I have 3 little guys 8, 6, 4, and one more expected in January so the extra seating and power will come be a welcome. I have only driven 100 miles but so far things are ok. |

I don't know what everyone is talking about. I have owned two RAV4's. I bought one when they first came out and I just bought a new 2009 model and it is a DREAM to drive. The 2009 model is bigger all the way around than my older RAV4. It is a solid, dependable, sporty-looking sweet little SUV. Gets great gas mileage and has a luxurious feel to it (I purchased the Limited edition, 4-cylinder). It also has tons of cargo space with a hidden compartment in the back for extra storage. You get a lot of bang for your bucks with this car. Cons: How would you improve 2009 Toyota RAV4?
I have to be careful when I corner, it feels a little top heavy, but all SUV's tend to feel this way. It is not intended to corner like a sports car! |

LOUD and VERY BUMPY RIDE both front and back seats are bumpy...my kids get car sick in this car. I regret getting it.

I would not recommend this car. Driving it is like being on a roller coaster. If the bumpy ride was fixed it would be OK, then I could tolerate the noise. But, both issues are really disappointing. I am surprised that Toyota has a car with such poor suspension. |

I am very disappointed in this vehicle. I bought this over a Chevy Equinox and that was the worst mistake I ever made. Tried to return it a day later and got no where with that, I would have even traded it for a car but that was a no also... I will never recommend this ride to anyone unless you want a headache everyday from all the noise. |
