2009 Toyota Camry

Pros: What do you like about 2009 Toyota Camry?
I think this car is great....the best we've ever had...We had an Avalon that was a little too big. Camry handles well, reliable....just a great car with minor recommendations (note below)

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Toyota Camry?
1. would move the clock...now in a recessed area on top of dash...only problem, when sunny, the glare from the sun and the recessed location of the clock make it almost impossible to read ...

2. Radio controls on top and the air system on the bottom....Would reverse these controls....Any other cars I've had the radio has been on the bottom and the air system located elsewhere....difficult after all of these years to get used to radio controls not being on the bottom....

3. When you're driving at a certain speed and you have to break to slow down, then hit the gas to speed up, the car jerks.....Dealership explained electronics having to "catch up with the slowdown, then having to accelerate immediately"....Never had this problem with any other car before..

Overall a great car......would buy again........would try and correct above "nuiances" though.....

Its great for cruising, accelerates fast.

If I drive fast it guzzles gas, can't feel anything because the Car it self is so soft . Its hard to tell if I'm actually taking a corner because it's so soft. Tires are very heavy. Underpowered this burns a lot of gas if I try changing lanes. The automatic has a mind of its own

Overall I love the car.
The leather seats are so comfortable. My son falls asleep all the time.
I have the SE and its exterior design is very appealing.

When we were driving up the grapevine it did feel a little sluggish and the RPM kept moving up and down fast. I wasn't sure what that was about.

Big blind spots right above driver and passenger mirror. The trim is so large that I have pulled out in front of cars several times that I didn't see.
Not enough power out of the 4 cyl.
Awful on snow.
Rough ride in the SE Edition.
Air bag compartment coming apart in the back.

I wouldn't waste my money on this model. I preferred my 4Runner over this car any day!

My husband gets a company car every 3 years. Our last 2 company cars have been Toyotas. We have a 2009 Toyota Camry XLE (or XLS). Before that we had a 2009 Toyota Camry XLE (or XLS). The first one we had about 6 months when a car ran a red light going right across my husband's path. My husband hit them going about 35 miles an hour. His airbags did not deploy. His seat belt did not lock as he hit his head on the sun visor and hit his knees on the dash board. He had no seat belt bruising. The accident was severe enough that the insurance company totaled a 6 month old vehicle. Thankfully, he was not seriously hurt. My concern then was that the airbags did not do their job. We do not know if the airbags are functioning until they either do or don't in an accident.
Well, now, he has had another accident. He was rear-ended on the freeway in heavy rush hour traffic, The guy that hit him was going fast as it caused our car to hit the car in front of him at a high rate of speed and that car hit the car in front of them. Our Toyota has ALOT of damage!! It too will probably be totaled. AGAIN, the airbags did not deploy!!! AGAIN the seat belts did not lock. AGAIN, my husband hit his head, his knees, his shoulder, and his shins. AGAIN, he had no bruising from the seat belts.
It is obvious to us that Toyota is having serious problems with airbags and seatbelts.

Pros: What do you like about 2009 Toyota Camry?
I love the Camry.
I love the sleek design, good acceleration, I love the seats inside. They are by far the most comfortable seats that i have ever had the pleasure to sit in.
Like the Telescopic tilt steering wheel.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Toyota Camry?
The nose on the front grill from a side view in my opinion sticks out a little too far. Besides that, love everything about it.

2009 Toyota Camry Review:
When we first purchased the Camry had shifting issues. If you slow down to about 45 MPH and try to accelerate the transmission won't shift down and pulls the engine RPM's down way too low. After we had the Camry fixed for the accelerator problem they reprogrammed the transmission. It is now a great car. For those of you complaining about the transmission I strongly suggest getting the transmission reprogrammed. I would now have no problem buying another Camry. THIS IS A GREAT CAR!!!

2009 Toyota Camry Review:
This vehicle replaced a 1994 Camry which in our opinion was a much better car in many ways. We also own a 2008 Highlander which overall outperforms the 2009 Camry performance, especially around town. (mpg, comfort, etc.) The mpg cannot compare to the 1994 either around town or on the highway. My Wife absolutely loved the "94" but drives the (09) only (she had high expectations for the "09" but was completely disappointed) when she has to. But I cannot get the (08) Highlander away from her now that she is used to it. I have been considering trading the (09) in on a Tundra. But now with the recall issue I will be looking toward a Ford F-150.

Pros: What do you like about 2009 Toyota Camry?
It is a good size cabin with a big trunk, and it's a good value for the money.
I can fit my car seat in the middle back seat and still get my 2 older kids next to it.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Toyota Camry?
Blind spots.
Handling in rain and snow.
Really cheap tires.

2009 Toyota Camry Review:
I cannot believe how bad it handles in the rain and snow.

I also cannot stand the new transmission, there is a delay in everything you do. For instance, if you come to a stop and then make a turn, you may hit the gas and go or you might hit the gas and get no response at all for a second. (not so good when there are other cars on the road) We took it to the dealer and he says that is normal for the new electronic transmission. I find that hard to believe.

Camry has far too many blind spots (poor design).

There is vibration that I feel in my back and the passenger seat really vibrates. I have had it to the dealer several times, and have been told it is the nature of the vehicle. That being the case no more Toyota for me.
