2009 Dodge Ram 1500

Pros: What do you like about 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
Pretty much everything, enjoyable to drive and comfortable.
Despite the "Con's" below I love this truck.
Crewcab has lots of room for the family.
Tows our 26 foot (29 ft overall) travel trailer no problems.
With MDS (4cyl' mode) empty truck @110km/h gets 28.5 mpg (Verified several trips), gets 18 - 22 mpg around town, towing the travel trailer sits @13.5 mpg, for summer towing I am happy to pay extra gas rather than fork out another 20 grand for the diesel.
"Lots" of cup holders... :o)
110volt power outlet on the dash, love it for cell phone charging etc.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
I sit tall (6ft 1 inch with a long back) head is 1 inch below roof, very comfortable lots of room, only complaint is even with steering wheel in full "up" position I can't see the 100 - 120 kph range.
For me the arm rest is an inch too low (seat in full down position) but the top of the door trim is not quite wide enough for an arm and on a trip makes the elbow sore (Guess I have to change my habits).
There are 3, 12 volt power outlets (two in the dash and one in the center arm rest/seat, but none in the rear for the kids DVD player etc.

I love my Laramie Quad. It is the best looking truck design on the road today.
The ride is the stand out feature along with the interior.
The Hemi has as much power that anyone would need in a half ton.
Fit and finish is impeccable.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
The nav system was a disappointment. I paid as much for my unit as someone in a major city. They can get local directions but I can't as I live in a small town on the Canadian prairies.
Some wind noise around the doors is annoying in a 50K truck.

2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Review:
Suggestion: Make available a Canada only nav update disc so we can get more local routing. If I were to follow the routing from my house to Edmonton, I would travel an extra 100 miles.

Lift gate.
Paint quality on bumpers easily rust.

2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Review:
I have a 4.7 TRX-2 tone Crew Cab--have not had major problems other than after this past winter I notices several tiny rust spots on the front painted metal bumper. I took it to the local dealer and was told the regional rep would get back to me. I've made inquiries to the dealer only to be told that the rep takes as much time as they need to make a decision on whether Chrysler will cover the repair. It has been 5 months without a decision. :(

Great looking truck.
Tows my 20ft boat with no problem. I have no problems towing that thing all day long.
Breaks well while in tow as well.

I have 1500ST quad cab with 4.7 v-8. The only real complaint I have is the front bench seat splitter (the one that folds down) does not have a storage compartment.

Better fuel mileage. Interior floor is slippery no matter what. No key-less entry on standard models.

The ride, power, looks inside and out.
I have the Laramie 2wheel drive. Gets about 20 per gal. hwy and 15 to 16 in town.
Sound system is good but wish they had the subwoofer under front driver seat like the Titan .

Wish it had instant gas mileage and where you could let go of tail gate and it would go down by itself.
Needs a six speed transmission and 12 volt outlets in back for passenger.

I have a basic 1500 ST 4.7L E-85 A/T SWB. No power window, rubber floor, and two tone vinly beanch split seat Love the truck. The HP has been bump up to 330HP/310 Torq. Great Zero to 60. It will lay you back at the take off and the electric shift is quick and smooth. Like the dual pipe cut-out in the rear bumper. This basic short wheel base performs well. Don't have to worry about being dirty, just get in and drive. Get a posi rear end it'll be low cost well performing truck.

Cons: How would you improve 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?
The 4 for the exterior is the one color painted (gray) bumper for all the different body colors. Which I bought a truck that match the bumper color, which turn out great. It does have 16 spark plugs. Upper change out every 30,0000, and mid 100,000.

I believe this basic truck is the best bang for the bucks.

It has the power when you need it.
Love to drive it.
The seats are comfortable and my back doesn't get tired.
The sound system is great.
The one I have has a 3.7L motor and is 2WD. It suits my needs.
The style over all looks sharp.
I like the starter system where you don't have to hold the key once you turn it to start.

I have had some troubles with small things going wrong. Like the seat glide and the seat belt alarm. I have only have had it 4 months. The trany is a little rough when you first start out from park.

I LIKE MY DODGE 1500 4X4 FULLY LOADED P/U VERY MUCH. IT IS A VERY GOOD LOOKING TRUCK. BUT YESTERDAY I NOTICE RUST STAINS ALL OVER THE FRONT BUMPER. IT LOOK'S LIKE A BUMPER OF A TEN YEAR OLD TRUCK. THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASE SIX MONTHS AGO.

I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A FRONT BUMPER THAT DON'T SHOW RUST FOR A LOT LONGER THEN 6 MONTHS. I HOPE THIS IS NOT WHAT THE REST OF THE TRUCK IS LIKE.
