| Pros: What do you like about 2008 Saturn VUE?
I owned a 02 plastic Vue and loved it but, it was very noisy. The 08 is very quiet and feels more solid. The interior finish is much better. The stability control and traction control are a Great safety feature as are the extra air bags and four wheel disc brakes. It feels more substantial. It looks great, (I get lots of looks) and the V-6 feels plenty powerful. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
The 6-speed transmission is always hunting for a gear. The smallest grade will cause the transmission to downshift and it won't go into 6th gear until around 50 mph, that makes if difficult to get any good gas mileage. It always seems to be one gear lower than it should be. I am only getting about 16.5 miles per gallon and most of my driving is between 45 and 60 with cruise control. The Vue needs to offer a standard shift transmission, maybe then it would get a better Mpg. I'm a standard shift guy myself and I miss that in my 02 Vue. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
I'm at 3800 miles now, had to have a trim piece on the back door window replace, cracked and blew off, was covered under warranty. I like the Vue and would consider again at this point. The only drawback is the very bad gas mileage. I may have to address this with the dealer at some point and see if there may be a problem with fuel management. Other than that, I'm enjoying the ride... |

I like the exterior looks and smooth quiet ride. The interior looks like a more expensive vehicle with the cloth covered windshield pillar posts, door panels, and graphite trim. The truck seems very European in design, (that's because it is) I feel the four cylinder has plenty of power for a person who drives normally. I find the seats, instruments, and controls layout comfortable. I enjoy long trips in this truck. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
The plastic silver areas in the lower half of the steering wheel look cheesy and don't match the rest of the interior. The in dash compass and exterior temperature is misreading every few months. (It's been in for heater temperature reprogramming already) The shifter/brake pedal/ ignition key interlock has been replaced once and its now malfunctioning again 10 months later. (You can't remove the key easily.) The light gray interior cloth absorbs any spill or soiling instantly and looks grubby after a few months. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
This is basically a nice truck and a great deal for the price. I drove a Ford Edge first, this was much nicer. I have been a ASE mechanic for 30 years and was initially impressed and really want to like it. It would be a great car if the quality control problems like the defective shifter interlocks and software reprogramming for the dash instruments could be taken care of. I work on Honda, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Subaru, GM trucks and Ford. Honda and Toyota makes nice vehicles but believe me, not every Honda or Toyota is trouble free and perfect from the day it was built, I fix em every day. If Saturn could tighten up the quality and advertise a bit more they have a winner. (I too wonder why you don't hear more advertising for Saturns.) |

Interiors much nicer than many other more expensive cars.

Front seats too hard. Should be softer.
Higher arm-elbow rest, especially between front seats.
Gas mileage (oh my, this one really sucks fuel like desperate!), a bigger gas tank, more rear cargo space. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
Nice car with very poor mileage. If you want to look like an old lady, drive a Honda or Toyota. This one is way nicer looking. Well, now that GM killed Saturn, I guess we will never get to see an improved version. |

Too many to count. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
Where to begin... We have 33000 miles and have had it for almost 2 years and we've had to take in a few times for various problems. The first problem, OnStar was not working correctly, so we took it in, the back up battery was faulty, so that was replaced. The second time, the CD player just stopped working after a 2 hour long car trip, took it in and they have to replace the whole stereo. The 3rd time was the check engine light came on, OnStar said it was a transmission issue, took it in to GM dealer, the reset the engine light, tested it and said nothing was wrong. Took it in today, because the air conditioning makes a click sound then sometimes a loud humming sound, and of course they said nothing was wrong. I'm tired of hearing from GM dealers that a clicking and humming sound are normal in a car. Oh and we need 4 brand new tires, we've driven it 33000 miles and we need new tires. We also have the same problem everyone else does, the shifting is weird and cruise control over does it on inclines. It's my 2nd Saturn, wasn't impressed with the first one, but let my husband talk me into this one. I should have talked HIM into a CRV. We'll be buying a Honda next time. But of course not for awhile since we are already upside down in this car because the resale or trade in value is so terrible. |

LOUD zipping noise coming from steering wheel/column. I have been in to 2 difference dealerships well over 10 times total, but to no avail. They replaced column, some seal, added special screws. Nothing has worked. The service in Bowling Green, KY told me thats just how they sound . . when he ran out of options . . or lost interest. . . This is by far my loudest biggest complaint. Vue has 46000 miles. The speedometer is now squeaking between 60 & 70 mph. This will be my last Vue. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
Again, love the outside, interior needs to be darker. Cupholders are way too low. You can't pick up a drink that has a top on it, because there is no other way to grab the cup. Steering noise is AWFUL. No way to unlock rear doors from back seat. |

If I had it to do over ... I WOULD NOT Re-PURCHASE;
Have had one problem after another:
10 miles out of dealership tire light flashing (that was 2/2008 - today is 7/20/2009 and STILL has not been fixed) Have been told by dealership that it was reset, now says "moisture in tire".
6 months after purchase: A/C stopped working and transmission gearing up extremely high - took in for warranty work- A/C fixed and told "normal" for the transmission.
9 months after purchase: leather on steering wheel and drivers side vanity mirror came off (called dealership, they said may or may not be covered under warranty).
10 months after purchase: loud popping in steering column
and RECALL for something.
12 months after purchase: electric locks for hatch-back triggers while driving, does not unlock at times unless repeatedly and manually triggered from electric door lock.
14 months after purchase: chirping noise/whine when car idles.
March 2009: SENT LETTER TO GENERAL MANAGER OF GM about numerous problems.
2nd trip to dealership for warranty work: dealership ordered replacement mirror and steering wheel, said could find NO OTHER PROBLEMS (ah ... OKAY???!!!)
3rd trip is scheduled: new problem 7/2009: passenger side airbag disabled itself (during 16 hour cross country trip) SAFETY ISSUE of course.
I am exhausted with having to deal with the numerous and almost MONTHLY problems that my 2008 Saturn Vue presents; I live 2 hours away from the nearest Saturn dealership, have requested that warranty work be approved at my LOCAL GM - but told no. If I had taken the car back every time I had a need for warranty work I would have to date, had to take this car back no LESS than 7 or 8 TIMES.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SATURN AND SERIOUSLY QUESTION WHETHER I WILL BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. I AM STUCK WITH A PIECE OF LOW QUALITY JUNK. |

I like the look of the car, but that where it stops. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
I would improve the engine. My 2008 Saturn Vue has stalled out three times in traffic with no hope of restarting. It's lucky myself or any other nearby drivers were not killed. Saturn has attempted to fix the problem twice. And on the way home from the dealership, after replacing the whole powertrain control module (the whole computer), the stupid car stalled out again. Very disappointing. I so regret not buying the Honda. |

Have had my 2008 XE in for repairs a few times for strut mounts, reliability seems to be an issue, however still like the styling, fit and ride better than my old 2002 VUE. Reliability an resale are my main concerns for this vehicle, and I am seriously thinking about taking a loss, and trading it in for a 2009 Subaru Forrester. |

Heater does not blow on floor, blows up your legs right into your face 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
Car has been a constant problem.
Engine oil leaks, serpentine belt bad, replaced catalytic converter.
When in cruise if you come to a hill , at speeds of 55-60 mph, it will downshift then transmission will hang up and not go back into overdrive. Also does this if you let cruise bring it up to speed. |

I have detected a rymthmic roaring noise that has become more noticable, however the dealer says that cannot find any unusal noise. It did not make this noise while traveling to Orlando and back to Conyers, Ga. It now has 5800 miles and I am due to go back for an oil change shortly and they are suppose to re-address my concern. I wonder if other owners of Vue V6 AWD have detected same problem. |

Its a sharp looking car and priced well versus other vehicles in its class. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?
It seems to be very cheaply made. The overall feel isn't solid. I get the sensation that a decent pothole will make the doors fly off. It can be a bit slow on the uptake when trying to gain speed and I don't trust the transmission. It chugs and changes between gears when trying to maintain speed around 40. 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
I have had mine for only 3075 miles and have had to take it in twice. Once because the key got locked in the ignition and couldn't be removed and now because the blower sounds like it may come right through the dashboard. Its 33 degrees outside and I cant turn up the heat. Overall, I wouldnt recommend this car to a friend. I should've just kept my Hyundai Tucson. Poorly done GM. This is the last time I buy from Detroit. |

I am in the process of getting rid of my brand-new 2008 VUE XE as it has been in the shop now 4 times: tachometer went out first, CD player quit working, alternator went out and now another failed electrical cluster (no turn signals, tachometer/odometer not working, etc. I would not currently recommend the 2008 VUE to anyone. |

Engine is smooth but a bit of a gas hog. We have the 3.6 liter engine. Exterior styling is nice. Interior plush but squeeky seats. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn VUE?

Since the first week of ownership we have had problems. We have 3000 miles on our vue and have had it into the dealer 8 times. They have replace 4 parts and spliced a wire harness on our vue. We requested a buy back from GM and got the shaft. My wifes father was employed by GM for 35 years. The only thing they offered was a extended warrenty on our lemon vue. The dealership offered to help and offered 21000 trade on a 29000 vue with 3000 miles. What a joke!! After this experience all I can say is I wish I would of bought a Honda. Bad Job GM!!! |

the auto light feature 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
I just bought a Vue 2 months ago and am disappointed with the auto feature concerning the lights. It is suppose to be a safety feature I was told. The exterior lights come on automatically which is nice but they failed to install lights in the dash for the speed op., gas, etc. There is a sm.light for the miles gone but so what. On a cloudy day or a sunny day when using sun glasses in order to see my speed I have to take it off auto and turn to reg. night lighting in order to see my speed op. I feel it defeats the reason for the auto and probably cost a lot. They should have added one more light or eliminated the whole auto feature. |

Little less weight might improve gas milage,very minor, but the turn signal clicking is irratating & too loud 2008 Saturn VUE Review:
For almost 8,000 miles this car has been perfect. Everything works well and fits well.V-6 perfromance is great. Been plesantly surprised with consistent gas milage at a little over 20MPG with as high as 24MPG on the road-that with driving almost 80 (hard to keep it down) Hope the Florida Highway Patrol doesnt read this! |
