2008 Astra XR, 5 door, sports package, sunroof, leather
Styling, practicality, sunroof, heated leather seats, stereo, handling, fun to drive, wheels/tire combo (17", sport package)
Solidness of the car (listen to the thud vs. ting when you close the doors).

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn ASTRA?
No iPod plug, no USB jack.
Cupholders - lack thereof.
Storage within the drivers reach could be improved.
Need more power, and another cog in either transmission.

2008 Saturn ASTRA Review:
Overall a great little car, in need of more power & more commuter comforts such as storage, armrest, 2 x 12V power ports, iPod integration.

The good is how fun it is to drive, the uniqueness of the car, mileage is ok (it is heavier but therefore significantly more solid than a Honda/Hyundai/etc.). I get 26.5 mpg in mixed driving, well into the 30's on the highway.

The stereo is quite good & just love the large glass sunroof which now is all the rage on other cars. Just wish Saturn still existed & that this car was better marketed when originally available. Drove a 2011 Opel Astra w/diesel in Germany this summer - awesome!!

Above average fit and finish.
Nice styling.
Tight steering and suspension with the 18" wheels and the Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Saturn ASTRA?
More horsepower.
A sixth gear in the manual transmission to lower the highway speed RPM's.
A temperature gauge.
Too many driving blind spots.

2008 Saturn ASTRA Review:
I am glad that GM did not alter or otherwise molest this fine example of their European Opel when they brought it to our shores. It is a pleasure to drive not only on a twisty turning road but it is not uncomfortable on long trips either. Somewhat underpowered and unremarkable fuel mileage are the only shortcomings the car has. But then again GM keeps the really neat Opels in Europe; the high performance OPC, turbo diesels, etc. And I do not need six cup holders in my vehicle!

2008 Saturn ASTRA Review:
The gas mileage is terrible 450 km per tank on the highway or about 34 mpg average.
It has been in twice but it got worse the second time the mechanic looked at it. I have 10,000 km on it so far, I did get 523 km per tank for a while -this is highway driving controlled speed etc.
The company advertises 46 mpg highway this makes quite a difference.
Does anyone else have a mileage problem?

2008 Saturn ASTRA Review:
I just bought the car after I drove the life out of the third engine in my Oldsmobile. I love how the car looks but wish it was quicker. I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains and Saturn Astra is a thrill to drive on the back country and mountain roads.
