2008 Ford Shelby GT 500

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500?
The speed and handling are excellent.
The design eludes to the nostalgic appearance of the original pony cars of the late 60's and early 70's. Truly a time machine.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500?
What I have done:
1. Change the rear end to a 3:73
2. Straight drive shaft (aluminum)
3. Cold Air induction
4. Shorty Shifter
5. Shorty Headers
6. Ford Racing Exhaust
7. Solid Control Arms and lowered the car 2 to 3 inches
8. Changed clutch due to tech bulletin
9. Changed all filler caps to Shelby chrome
10.Changed tires to B. F. Goodrich unidirectional street radials
Future changes anticipated:
1. New Kenny Bell Supercharger
2. New Suspension

2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 Review:
This is a great car, after the changes were made, the car will run the 1/4 mile at 128 mph at 11.8 sec. It's actually faster but it is impossible with street tires to get it to hook up with the 3:73. This car is an absolute dream to ride and drive. The car easily accelerates to 100 mph and with the 6 speed transmission 150 mph does not create any strain on the motor.

This car is a time machine with the Sirus stereo system, turn on the 70's and back you go..I will never sell this car, It will almost be to the same caliber as the Super Snake when I am finished. It is driven only a couple of times a month.

Exterior and Interior appearance are great.

Performance and Sound are amazing.

The scream of the supercharger combined with the thunder of flowmasters on wide open throttle is incredible.

The head turning factor on the street is entertaining.

Excellent bang for the buck with some owner exclusivity.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500?
Ford should have introduced the GT500 in 07 with the aluminum block to get the weight off of the nose, a cold air kit from the factory and a lower factory ride height.

(2 out of 3 for 2010 ain't bad. Now Ford just has to lower the ride height to improve handling).

2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 Review:
Track Time....If someone sees that intimidating grille in their mirror in the turn, they can expect to get pounded on the next straight.

The GT500 with lower and stiffer springs (and adjustable panhard bar to center the diff.) although heavy, is well balanced and predictable on the track with excellent braking ability. This car is literally "tons" of fun.

I am very happy with my purchase.

The style, the power to turn heads and all the horses under that hood.

better leather seats and more of it. Still not bad.

I love it. I only drive it once or twice a month. Stays in a storage shed. 7200 miles on it. I will never sell it.

Needs a taller gear like a 373.

Power up the wazu.
Good comfortable ride.
Exceptionally fun to drive as
the ride from 1st through 2nd gear is a blast.

Better visibility to the tachometer.
If you get into the redline the engine shuts down.
The engine produces a steady whine from the supercharger, consequently shifting cannot be done by sound of the engine wind up.

2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 Review:
You owe it to yourself to get one of these. They are really fun on the freeway because you can drive the car with only your big toe on the throttle and command more than all the power you need.

The GT500 is hovering right 100%. Can't think of any improvements.

Interior needs to be polished a little, needing immediate attention are the uncomfortable seat belts.

the quick acceleration and it can be well behaved if you want to be.
it's a head turner.

an aluminum block would help lighten the front end.
a short throw shifter.
a self propping hood.
