Exterior and Interior appearance are great.
Performance and Sound are amazing.
The scream of the supercharger combined with the thunder of flowmasters on wide open throttle is incredible.
The head turning factor on the street is entertaining.
Excellent bang for the buck with some owner exclusivity. Cons: How would you improve 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500?
Ford should have introduced the GT500 in 07 with the aluminum block to get the weight off of the nose, a cold air kit from the factory and a lower factory ride height.
(2 out of 3 for 2010 ain't bad. Now Ford just has to lower the ride height to improve handling). 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 Review:
Track Time....If someone sees that intimidating grille in their mirror in the turn, they can expect to get pounded on the next straight.
The GT500 with lower and stiffer springs (and adjustable panhard bar to center the diff.) although heavy, is well balanced and predictable on the track with excellent braking ability. This car is literally "tons" of fun.

Good comfortable ride.
Exceptionally fun to drive as

Better visibility to the tachometer.
If you get into the redline the engine shuts down.

The car has incredible iconic appeal,that cuts across the entire demographic spectrum. It looks fantastic, sounds incredible,is quiet and comfortable inside,and delivers 19 to 21 mpg,as a daily driver.To be honest,the car appeals to your practical needs,and you are only a few thousand rpm's away from every mans ideal muscle car experience. The car could use an interior trunk release,more ergonomically tuned shoulder belts,lower 5and 6 gear ratio's,and a few more creature comforts,to include a dash that is not so abjectly spartan. I have 9000 miles on my Shelby,and everytime I get in it,I still have that love and enthusiasm I had the day I bought it. I had a recall concerning the passenger air bag,and no other problems. I think the car handles better than alot of reviews indicate,and if you take the traction control"off",you could go through rear tires like Kleenex. |

I love my 2008 Shelby but as mentioned, wished the interior had a higher quality of of materials (eg:too much poor plastic). My only performance change will be swapping exhaust, Borla is a much meaner sound. |

Tune the car better, it is a gas guzzeler, because of the factory tune and the performance is lacking because of the factory tune. Dealers that price increase from MSRP should be limited on the number of vehicles they can get from the factory. 2008 Ford Shelby GT 500 Review:
The consumer can increase both power and gas mileage just by doing a computer retune. The brake calipers are too big which limits the after market wheel selection to almost nothing. |
