2008 Dodge Nitro

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Dodge Nitro?
The Nitro has a great exterior look and they're not as common as most SUV's, most people stare at mine for a while before asking, "What is that? It looks really cool, etc...." (Even though I'm not a fan of the color of mine).

Ample cargo and seating space as I can fit a 6' folding ladder in it easily. When not used for cargo I can fit 5 full grown adults comfortably.

In my opinion it has extremely smooth and responsive power steering setup and turns into parking spots like a Honda Civic (excellent turning radius).

It's more like a truck as far as suspension goes than some other SUV's, but, that's what I wanted as it feels really solid.

The stock sound system is nice with an auxiliary input for whatever media device you choose, the controls are clearly marked and easy to find, the interior is also very easy to clean thoroughly.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Nitro?
Tough question for me as there's not much I don't enjoy about my vehicle. That being said, I noticed many folks complaining about the mpg they get. I did too at first, but then on a whim I filled it up with 93 octane (I have the 3.7 with a tow package). My mileage increased brilliantly! Take this as a con if you will as higher octane fuel costs more. I know it's common knowledge to most that cars run better on high octane fuels but, this particular vehicle responds dramatically to some better "juice". I've added about 3-5 days of drive time per tank by paying a little more for my fuel, and to me, that's worth it in time alone.

True con for me though is that I have the plastic fender wells and trim. It makes it a pain in the rear to wax the thing, I use painters tape, lol. Go with painted fenders folks. :)

2008 Dodge Nitro Review:
All around for me, as 33 year old guy with a couple properties to care for with a wife (and kids on the way hopefully soon). It's my all time favorite as far as vehicles I've owned. Not so common that it's boring, handles as well as you would want from a truck-style SUV, and a LOT of versatility. Bravo Dodge, bravo.

P.S. I don't sweat gas prices much as I've traveled quite a bit and other countries make $4.08/gal for premium sound like a total bargain.

Overall appearance.
Like the truck-like feel with a smooth ride.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Nitro?
Gas mileage not too great. But the overall appearance, feel and ride makes up for it.
Could slightly upgrade the interior fixtures, but looks good.

The gas mileage is awful!!! I knew the gas mileage would be somewhat worse than the previous car I drove but, this thing is breaking the bank!!!

Can someone design a SUV that looks good, is sporty, spacious, gets good gas mileage and doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Times are tough right now! We are in a recession if car makers haven't noticed? Everyone says "Buy a hybrid!!!" Well who the heck can afford one? So you are either stuck with a tiny car that two people can fit in or spend all your money on gas for your gas guzzling SUV!! I love my Nitro...until I get to the gas pumps!

Has to be gas mileage - terrible.

Love the exterior look.
Interior is pretty roomy and I like the reclining seats in the back.

I have the smaller engine, but the gas mileage still isn't great.
I wish the side mirrors were designed a little differently, they seem awfully big.

The side view mirrors, I am 5'4". I think the mirrors are a very serious hazard, they are so big they block your view, if someone is crossing the street you won't be able to see them standing on the corner, visibility with traffic to your right and left side is also compromised, very poor design.

Roomy and handles great. I just bought mine and I am Loving it by far. It does get a lot of attention in my opinion it just looks o so different.

Being tall and trying to put you child in his car seat and WHAM you knock your head in on the roof. Ouch.
Better gas mileage for real Dodge, this is insane but hopefully your CEO will listen to your engineers next time.

I fell in love with the design of the truck overall and it was different than any other SUV I seen! Now everybody is driving them around!!

It definitely would be the gas mileage!

Also if someone could tell what is the fuse for the radio; because the fuse blown and I don't know which one. It is because the manual tells me one thing and the diagram under the fuse box cover tells me something else!!

I leased mine in September of 2007; and I have had not one problem with it!! It's very quick and handles the road very well. Overall; it gets a lot of attention!!!!(lol)
