2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I LOVE the stow and go! I never wanted to own a mini-van but purchased the Dodge basically for this feature. I would NOT own any other make because it is totally amazing.

Gas mileage is pretty good too!

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
Had new keys replaced three times as I couldn't use the remote to unlock the doors.

Also on the hottest day of the year, my key got stuck in the ignition and I need to have it towed to the dealer (they were fantastic but...didn't need the headache) 3 kids with car seats was a massive pain!

I didn't like how plain it was. Mine didn't have the DVD, the sliding doors were manual, heavy and hard with little ones...

I have also had 5 recalls done on it. The air condition (didn't know it was until mine failed and was 300km from home), the wind shield whipper fluid box, and a few other little things. I heard there was lots of transmission problems but thank fully not with mine...

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Review:
I just traded it in for a 2010! Hated the 2008 but loved the stow N go sooo much, I traded it in hoping that since the 08 was a new model, the 2010 was hopefully fixed! The brakes were at 25% and the dealer had to replace them all away around!

we have had so many recalls. Have had to replace brakes twice before 50,000 miles and have had to replace shifter. Now after two months of shifter being replaced it won't shift out of park.

It is a very roomy vehicle. You can put a lot of stuff in that van.
It also has a comfortable ride.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I had to change the brakes several times although the warranty for the front brakes were extended because of problems with the brakes.
Presently, the van has been at the dealer's service bay for the past week for a complete repair of the transmission which failed without being abused.
Little plastic parts broke off such as the clip for the sun visor.

The ride and versatility are actually wonderful but the brake and transmission issues put a damper on the enthusiasm.

Looks sharp for a minivan.
Great for the long trips, very comfortable.
The engine responded very well when I had to get on the gas.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
Bought this van with 14k miles and had to have the dealer replace the rear brake calipers and pads. Also had the front rotors turned. I will replace the braking system with aftermarket parts, no longer trusting factory brake system.

Water collected in Driver and passenger side sliding door. Drilled new drain holes and fixed the issue.

Get rid of the remote key, it could have been done much cheaper (over $100 to replace).
FIX THE BRAKES.

I have driven several different minivans through the years for my job. I have never had so many problems in such a short time. Powertrain control module, heater core assembly, short-lived brakes, recommended tires are hard to find. If you have a blow out in a small town-good luck. If you need a part it is usually on backorder. I've been to dealerships that can get me in sometime next month, because they are so busy fixing these Caravans. Frustrating!

Bought it used with 28k.. Brakes were metal to metal after 5k of owning it, there was no warning because someone bent the warning tabs back on the pads. Dealer denied any knowledge of this.. Found out, accidentally, that the tranny had already been replaced.. Mech. at dealership told me & was told to keep quiet by the svc. manager.. Drvr. hub & bearing @ 60k, pass. hub & bearing @ 70k.. Rad. Cap weeps & runs down AC hose causing it to fail.. Recalls have been issued for both, I wonder if they know that the failing rad. cap causes the hose to fail.. I replace the brakes & rotors at least 4 times a year.. The biggest problem started when I noticed that I had to add oil to the engine @ 32k.. Dealer said they could not find where it was going.. After 36k, when the warranty was over, I found it.. Had to replace the head gaskets.. Was good for a bit, they are leaking again.. Thanx mopar.. It has 107k on her now.. I shouldn't have had any of these problems yet.. Just shows that maybe Dodge, Chrysler or whoever it is should spend some more money on quality of their products & a little less on their commercials.. Oh & to top it off, they decided to change the tire size on these vans starting this year. The 225/65/16 are nice, but unfortunately nobody carries them & they are very expensive..

I'm sure there's other ones out there, but this is one of the worst vehicles you can buy, unless you like to do nothing but maintain your vehicle.. Seriously, don't ever buy one of these vans.. Buy one b4 2008, b4 they changed everything..

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Review:
Bought this brand new. It had five recalls, had problems with key getting stuck in ignition, was on business trip, took to a Dodge dealer they couldn't get it out. Had to leave key in ignition entire trip. No one even wanted to steal it.
The Radio had to be replaced, the gear shift going to transmission replaced, biggest problem is the brakes were replaced at 18,000 miles still having problems. Mirror fell out on drivers side second day of owning it took two weeks for replacement interior back hook fell off as well as bracket holding passenger sun visor.
Will never own another Dodge product. And the service department is not good to deal with.

The only thing I like about this van is the storage space. It has ample storage in trunk and under seats, also seats can be folded down into the floor which is very nice.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I have owned minivans for the past 10 years. This van is the absolute worst. I will never buy one again. The automatic doors do not always close, difficult for my special needs child. Parts of the interior have fallen off, pieces of the door/window. It sounds like the interior is falling apart when driving. I have had MULTIPLE problems with transmission and engine. Also multiple recalls.
