2008 Dodge Caliber

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Dodge Caliber?
I love the car and it's easy to turn and maneuver in small spaces.

I was also impressed how little damage resulted when I was rear ended recently. I was stopped behind a car waiting to turn and the car behind me didn't stop at all. Their car was a write-off and I drove away, only having a break in the bumper which had to be replaced. There was no other damage to the hatch or anything.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Caliber?
I agree, the center armrest is too low. I'm average height but would still have to lean over to reach it.

A light in the glove compartment would be helpful.

2008 Dodge Caliber Review:
I have a 2008 model with 65k on it.

Only repair so far was a turn signal where the wire had corroded under the driver's side floor.

Now I've been told that I need a new "lower ball joint" on one side (so the other side will probably follow soon).

As seen in other reviews, I also have a persistent rubbing noise in the front end somewhere while driving slowly (in parking lots for instance) which mechanics haven't been able to find. Now I wonder if it's related to this ball joint problem.

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Dodge Caliber?
I like the appearance and get many compliments.

It hauls my two kids around and the seats clean up well after they try to destroy them.

I get great gas mileage and it handles daily around-town driving and monthly 400mile trips to the city.

We love the onboard GPS and Sirius!

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Dodge Caliber?
The airplane sounding engine, remote hatch, touch-screen stereo, power seats would be nice.

There is also an annoying rotory/rubbing sound and feeling in the front end when the car gets up over 20-30mph. Garage has been troubleshooting for a year now.

Replaced front left strut, wheel bearing, axle, rotors and break pad.

2008 Dodge Caliber Review:
Overall this has been a wonderful family compact car. I downsized from the Grand Caravan. This car reminds me a lot of the 87 Dodge Charger I had as a teen. I would buy one again if I get another compact.

My major frustration has been the front end noise that the mechanics can't seem to find. So far the service has been great---I have not had to pay out of pocket for anything.

Improved pickup. Forget the CVT transmission.

I agree the car is a head turner, but I had to replace the alternator on the car that I have and now I'm having a problem when the car gets too hot. The temp oil light comes on and the car slows down and I have to pull over on the side until the car cools down. hmmmmmm Makes you wounder right.. But overall, it is a nice car for a small family that doesn't do a lot of traveling.

The overall look, how it looks like an SUV but is small and compact like a car...
It gets great gas mileage...
The cooler is a nice gadget in the summer...

A hatch opener...

And they all should have interior reading lights. Mine doesn't and I know that's an option but only when buying new...

Okay the look of the car is nice... it's stylish and modern... And the gas mileage is great... But I bought my car used in July 2010, when I bought it I loved this car... 6 months later I wish I never did! I started to hear a noise in the front end... It sounded like it was in the tire... Well when I took the car to get looked at I get a phone call telling me it's the transmission!!! OKAY... my car has only 53k miles on it!!! So I did some researching, coming to find that these cars are known for that!! The transmission are junk..disposable.. and will keep needing replaced every 20-50k miles!!! SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY A DODGE CALIBER, DON'T!! I REGRET GETTING MINE!! IT MAY BE PRETTY BUT THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, WHEEL BEARINGS..ECT.. WILL NEED REPLACED TIME AFTER TIME!!!

Getting water in rear floor area driver side. Had it to the dealership once before to fix.
Now 5 months later, after last rain storm found water deep in the rear floor area again.

Not a little water but lots.

Like the car except for water problem that no one seems to know how to fix.

Drives perfect.
2 years and stills no problems.

I have nothing bad to say about it. Everywhere you go it turn heads, especially the gold & silver ones. The handling is so good if you're ever in trouble, you'll know what to do.

I've had problems with water puddling up in the back floorboard and up front on the drivers side. Other than that I love my 2008 Caliber and would buy another one.

2008 Dodge Caliber Review:
Over all not a bad car for the price, standard features are good.
The reviews I got from all the sales people I had talked to told me that this car will do 40 + MPG on the highway, well I would like to see it happen.
I am getting 27--30 in the city and that's really good, but on the highway I get 30--32, hmmm.
I wanted to buy winter tires for the 18" wheels that came with my SXT Sport. Wow! Price over $300.00 a tire and very hard to find.
