2008 Buick Lucerne

Pros: What do you like about 2008 Buick Lucerne?
Exterior styling and quality is world class.
Very nice ride quality.
Good brake feel.
Ample trunk.
Very roomy interior.
The V6 has good gas mileage.
Seats are superbly comfortable.
Stereo system sounds very good, the CD player plays MP3s, and XM radio sounds great.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Buick Lucerne?
My CX lacks:
(1) heated external mirrors.
(2) thermostatic temperature control.
(3) fold down rear seat backs.

The turning radius is very wide.
The hard gray plastic on the dash looks and feels cheap.
Seat back pockets and door pockets are small and not very useful.
The windshield washer is awkward to use.

2008 Buick Lucerne Review:
Overall this is the best Buick sedan yet. The car is enjoyable to drive for a large car. It has a quiet and plush ride, but better controlled than the large GM cars of yesteryear. The vehicle is responsive in handling, although there is not much feedback in the steering. Braking feels solid and easy to modulate. I'm very satisfied with this car.

Beautiful outside styling especially the profile. The car oozes both poise and power.
Whisper quiet - Lazy Boy comfort in the front - exceptional leg room in the back. The Northstar is a wonderful powerplant. One hundred and fifty miles on a Saturday drive gave me a return of 24.3 miles on a V8.
The fit, finish and tolerances are as good as any other manufacturer if not BETTER. I have previously owned a couple of Audi's and three Benz's and $ for $ value for money I would take the Buick every time.
Anyone thinking that this car is for "old farts" think again. Considering of buying a car of this size, visit a showroom and at least sit in one - Better still - take a test drive. You will be pleasantly surprised!
The American car industry now makes top quality products - They have to convince the consumer that the old stigma of poor quality is a thing of the past. Congratulation GM on a great product!

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Buick Lucerne?
Try and improve on the turning circle.

The arm rest on the drivers door could be a little higher for perfect comfort, I am having to rest my arm on the rim where the top of the door panel meets the glass.

2008 Buick Lucerne Review:
Limo comfort ride and appointment. Ample power when needed with a respectable MPG return. More than enough room both front and back for driver and passengers.

Eat your heart out Lexus.

Don't care for ride quality. Does not ride as well as my 2000 Lesabre with 120,000 miles on it. And besides I got 21 mpg in town and 28 on highway with the old car. The Lucerne does not perform that well.

Very uncomfortable the way it handles on the interstate. At speed limit the slightest movement of the steering wheel creates a rear end sway like in severe situations could roll over.

While it is a flashy car it cannot hold a candle to the Park Ave and Lesabre of old. The Lesabre as well as the Lucerne both have the 3800 engine.

Because of past satisfaction with Buick Cars I (have had 8 of them) went with the Lucerne, but am not sure I would do it again. It is not the car Buick has been made famous for.

I SHAFTS IN THE STEERING HAVE BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND ARE
STARTING TO GO AGAIN. YOU CAN FEEL A CLUNK IN THE STEERING
WHEEL.
THE BRAKES ARE VERY LOUD WHEN YOU GET RIGHT ON THEM. I WAS TOLD IT IS BECAUSE OF THE CERAMIC BRAKE PADS THAT GM IS USING. I THINK THEY ARE CUTTING CORNERS ON THE AMT
OF INSULATION THEY ARE USING ALSO.
ARM RESTS NEED TO BE HIGHER AS UPPER EDGE OF DOOR IS HIGHER DUE TO SMALLER WINDOWS. GLARE ON DASH FROM THE SUN MAKES IT HARD TO SEE THE GAUGES.

WITH ALL THIS SAID, THIS IS STILL A NICE AUTO. HOWEVER I THINK IT IS EASY TO SEE WHY GM HAS STRUGGLED SO. ALL OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED ITEMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT DURING DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAR.

I love my 2008 Buick Lucerne, I feel I have all the comfortability and luxuries of a Cadillac, and the interior is awesome inside and also a eye catching body style with the right color.

Better control adjustments for the stereo system. I am still trying to figure it out - if I can't, the dealer will show me.

Dash gages set back in dash board too far. Hard to see in day light.

Cup holders too close to upholstery on console, set down too deep. When I pull a paper cup out of holder I have to grab it by the top and it has squashed spilling coffee on upholstery.

Drive by wire too aggressive. When I step on the gas pedal Car seems to lurch and tachometer jumps up 300 rpm momentarily.

I have had my Lucerne for 6 weeks. Everything just works perfect on it. I truly feel like I have a luxury vehicle

Styling, driveability, interior attractive (but not totally functional), good mileage thus far.

Cons: How would you improve 2008 Buick Lucerne?
Raise floor so you don't have to step down. Very difficult for older people to get in and out. During daylight gauge panel rather difficult to read when sunny. Make door pockets deeper to hold maps, etc. Make only one storage between front seats (narrower) as it is very difficult for driver (if not slim) to hook seat belt. Instead of a split, make storage compartment deep enough to easily hold 4" x 4" box of tissues. Cup holders rather small. Extend higher part of door to front giving more headroom when getting in and out. Unfortunately we didn't find out these things until after we brought the car home.

2008 Buick Lucerne Review:
Car is quiet riding and takes road bumps well. Not everyone, especially older people, has an IPOD so having a 6-play CD would be nice. We have only had the car a couple of weeks so rather early to rate.

The entire dashboard is almost impossible to read with sunlight on it. The brake rotors warped badly at 30,000 miles for a $300 repair as warranty is only 12,000 on them
