Pros: What do you like about 2008 BMW 3-Series? This review is specifically for the new hardtop convertible with the turbo engine-335i Convertible. Aterrific car, very much larger and more polished than 3 series converts of just a few years ago. I have about 1000 mi so far city and freeway combined so there's little to report about durability. But my subjective impressions are 95% possitive. A large, maybe too lare, comfortable yet very sporty coupe-convertible, beautifully finished inside and out with high quality attention to detail everywhere. I've had an SLK and Lexus SC 430 so am familiar with hard top convertibles, but this seems the best designed of the lot. Adequate trunk space with the top down is a plus, although it's awkward to get to. I have to add that this is my first BMW. I'd always passed them over as a bit too overpriced and underpowered for my taste. But this new 3351 has both those issues well covered. There is a lot of content in this car-easy to order packages-but I find it all worth it. Out the door about $5 or $6,000 less than the Lexus SC 430, but to my taste a much better equipped car with far better road manners. Cons: How would you improve 2008 BMW 3-Series? Not too many that haven't already been cited elsewhere. The cupholders are flimsy and the iDrive is too difficult to learn(for some). I find the iDrive generally intuitive and very efficient-though the learning curve is slow. The voice command are very useful, if you can remember them. I mentioned above the car might be too large. At 108" wheelbase and 120" OAL, this is a big platform, too much so for my taste. Though it's termed a 4 place, it's really a 2+2 in seating comfort for normal sized folk, and there's just too much bulk for that. I'd like to see about ten inches less bulk, but I guess that would put it at the size of the 1 Series-and there'll be no hard top convertible in the 1 Series. 2008 BMW 3-Series Review: I guess i divided by review into the pros and cons sections. Not much more to add other than I'm looking forward to years of trouble-free motoring fun, and am glad I had the foresight to order this car when I did. |
