2007 Volkswagen Passat Wagon Review:
It's a good car but it burns oil - 1 liter per 3000 kilometer. Returned it for service - they had me service it every 1000 kilometer and after 6 times in 9 months, VW Canada and the dealer say it is normal. Very disappointed. This is a major issue.

I bought this car in 2007 for the style and design but it was to have great gas mileage. About 22 highway and 26 highway.

The electronics on this car are a problem. The check engine comes on almost every other month. Every time I take it in is a $125.00 just to check it out. Has had 2 major problems that Volkswagen paid for - about $6000.00. The car is out of warranty. They do not have a great warranty.

The suspension is noisy a bit. This is my first Volkswagen in over 20 years and I will not buy another one. I liked the car at first, but once the warranty was over, things (major) went wrong.

Install more comfortable seats (in the front), haven't used the back seats.

2.0T engine is best available. 6spd is great (DSG is sometimes too quick to upshift. Ext. brite work is way too soft. Don't try to clean bugs off with even a simple brush. Cargo area cover would be better if VW adopted the style used on the Saab 9-3 Sportcombi that moves out of way when the hatch lifts (attached to hatch)

280 ponies with better gas milage than the 190 in older models. Lot's of passenger and cargo space.

Visibility is very bad (multiple blind spots), seats are not very comfortable for tall people. What's up the Dynaudio CD player... no repeat or programming capability! Nav system is slow and no touch screen.

Generally, a pretty good wagon. 4-Motion really helps in the rain, but the car is pretty heavy so has tendency to fishtail at high speeds in slalom. Full power steering is a bit loose and road-feel is lost. Tire pressure warning should indicate which tires are low.

2007 Volkswagen Passat Wagon Review:
This is my third Volkswagon and they just keep getting better. Everyone is impressed with the styling ("looks like a BMW or an Audi" is what I get most) and the automated rear door is very convenient when you have your arms full of groceries and need to pop the hatch. It is very quiet on the road and with the optional Sirius radio you really enjoy the sound quality. The internal temperature controls (heater & AC) heat up quickly in cold weather and cool down quickly on hot days. The windshield wipers even slow down when you stop at a red light which is nice and the back wiper turns on automatically if you have the front wipers on and then put the car in reverse. They have thought of everything!

MB,BMW,AUDI. Buy it and get a car at least as good--if not better and keep 15-20K in your pocket. I did!
