2007 Toyota Avalon

Pros: What do you like about 2007 Toyota Avalon?
We owned a big S500 Mercedes prior to this Avalon, and due to the front-wheel drive, there is no transmission hump through the center of the car allowing just as much room as the S500.

The car gets incredible gas mileage. Running this car at 70-80 mph on the highway with the AC blowing, it will average 27-30 mpg.

It handles like a luxury car but the maintenance is so much less. My oil changes run less than $30 on average. When we owned our Mercedes, we would just pass a dealership and have to pay $200! Thank you, Toyota!

Cons: How would you improve 2007 Toyota Avalon?
There is a sheen that is reflected from the dash to the windshield when the sun is shining through the front. This has a tendency to blind the driver at times. I would reduce the glaze on the dash to decrease the reflection.

Otherwise, it is perfect.

Seats nead to have more contour/back comfort, even with the lumbar support that's not quite that effective; need more thigh support and a bit more plush.

2007 Toyota Avalon Review:
Overall quite content with my purchase. Did have a problem with front end alignment; it tended to "creep" to the left and had to return it several times until I found a new dealership that remedied the problem in one visit
Also has a "ticking" sound in the engine when cold and tends to disappear after about 10 or so minutes of driving with no effect, it would seem, on the engine's performance. Transmission seems smooth, although I've read some negative reviews concerning same. But so far, no complaints.
Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this vehicle to anyone seeking a Lexus-like ride for a lot less $$$$$. Oh, yes, and the gas mileage is really excellent for a sedan of this type -- on regular gas, too. But I get better mileage on mid-grade or high-grade gas. So, in that case it's a toss-up, and the mileage isn't too significant with the various grades.
Also, the cloth interior in my XL is wonderfully comfortable in hot and especially cold weather. My last 4 automotbiles have had leather seats, and except for the "luxorious" impression, I think leather isn't very practical, especially in weather variations. However, as previously mentioned, leather or not, I think Toyota should re-think the Avalon's seating -- a little more side and back support, more like a bucket, for traveling, rather than living-room-like.
Otherwise I'll give it a 4 and a half star overall rating.

It has ALMOST all of the features one could want in a Luxury Sedan:
Smooth Engine/Tranny.
Quality Interior.
Roomy Front and Back Seats.
Quality Leather and Wood Trim.
Tilting Rear seats.
Very Soft ride that handles off ramps much nicer than you would think.
Great MPG.

- JBL Sythesis stereo is horrible (Bose is much better).
- Brakes seem soft and mushy. (Had it checked, tech said its normal).
- No Bluetooth.
- No Aux Input.
- Sat. Receiver not Std on Limited model.
- Nav Interface is goofy. Not touchscreen.

2007 Toyota Avalon Review:
After Test driving a Lexus LS430 (loved), I decided it may be more economical to at least test drive the Avalon LTD. I was wowed after the test drive. Car feels like a true luxury sedan. I prefer it over the Lexus ES due to interior. Great Bang for the buck.

Mine developed a problem of large amounts of smoke from the tailpipe. A Toyota mechanic told me it is a design flaw with the head having too small of chambers and thus sludge built up. He said it could be fixed but my dealership, where I also purchased a new Tundra, would not honor the warranty at 2.5 years and 32,000 miles. Very, very disappointing.

Should have Standard Blue tooth.
Upgrade navigation to touch-screen.
Needs an i-Pod interface.
Eliminate cover over radio.
Add a little visual excitement to exterior.

2007 Toyota Avalon Review:
Great car, all of the amenities of a Lexus ES, but with more rear leg room and a lower price.

Great value, very easy to own and maintain, very comfortable, especially for rear passengers.

Definitely plan to replace this one with another Avalon.

Minor improvements....
Toyota should have included collapsible side view mirrors.
Lack of MP3 player is a downer in a car as upscale anbd luxurious as the Avalon.
Extra plug-in outlet is in an inconvenient location.

Said it before and it bears repeating: Best car I have ever owned. From this point forward, I will own an Avalon as long as Toyota commits to the quality and reliability of their Avalon history. I love this car, best exterior stylish lines of any car on the road.
