Not much. Maybe the exterior look. Cons: How would you improve 2007 Subaru Outback?
Put in a heater that works in the floor position. In the floor postion more heat is directed at the driver's face than at his feet. It's absurd to have to open the window to get cool air on your face because the defrost is blasting out more air than is going to your feet when the control is set to the floor position. My 96 Outback handles better on snow and ice than the 07. The 96 inspires conidence while the 07 inspires terror. As far as interior design, all the great features of the older outbacks have been eliminated. Cup holders now take up what used to be storage space and when the cupholders are used the containers are in the way. I won't even discuss the cost of key replacement. Subaru quality and design have really deteriorated. I own three Subarus including a 2007 Outback which is a complete disappointment to me. The dealer's chief mechanic assured me that the heater is operating normally. If this is the best Subaru can do, I predict that more and more of it's loyal customers such as me will soon be leaving the fold. The Subaru Outback is not a good choice. |

More cargo space, stronger and longer roof rack, better gas mileage, weather radio. Driver seat and outside mirror placement seem made for tall drivers. 2007 Subaru Outback Review:
Bought 2,5i wagon. Regret buying automatic this time--shifting seems inefficient, indecisive, and awkward; lacks power and smoothness of manual's acceleration, but clutch is still too far away for shorter drivers on manual. |

Get rid of the irritating seatbelt chime, drop the tire pressure monitor, single click to unlock all doors, smooth out the engine acceleration, make features so they can be turned on and off, use steel for rear hatch so magnetic emblems will stick, fix rattles and noise in passenger cabin, get rid of the bucking when going downhill, improve the quality of knobs and switches, better design for rubber mats to keep salt off the carpet, eliminate the flashing red security light, change the dome light so it doesn't come on when the key is switched off (only when doors open), offer option for less expensive 16 inch wheels on Outback 2.5i, offer more exterior and interior colors, stock more 5-speed models, make it easier to change bulbs in the dash, change the fuel filler to the driver's side. 2007 Subaru Outback Review:
Subaru has dropped the list by $2600 for 2007, resulting in a lot of cheaper parts and shortcuts. If possible, buy an Federal Emissions Outback that does not have driveability issues. That means don't buy your new Outback in New England or California. |
