Pros: What do you like about 2007 Jeep Compass?
Gas is good on it, good room for small SUV, limted edition is nice interior.

Cons: How would you improve 2007 Jeep Compass?
Have to replace brakes, and tires only 33k miles on it. Also have to look at sway bar, inner outer tie ends replace, struts and struts rotars, and wheel ends all need to be replaced, crazy to think only at 33k it needs all of these repairs, horrible sounds when driving you can't have a conversation because it's sooooooo loud while driving on highway. Really dissapointed will never buy a JEEP/CHRYSTLER AGAIN!!!!!!!

Pros: What do you like about 2007 Jeep Compass?
The Compass is overall rugged. More steel and aluminum than I'm used to in later model SUVs.
Like the interior of the Limited I have. Comfortable seats, very good storage capability with the fold down rear seats.

Terrible suspension from day one. I just had all four tires replaced at 63,000 miles and the mechanic at NTB told me the ball joints are almost shot, a real problem for the Compass it seems from past reviews. Because of this I get a slight yawing left or right when hitting an uneven surface on the road.

In addition, the alternator blew its bearings and had to be replaced. I think the Compass has an overall weak electrical system. I've had to replace all of the rear lights more than once in two years. I think it's due to either an electrical short or a surge.

Also, the fuel pump just went on me this spring leaving me stuck at a gas station. That's two break downs in two years, one in a blizzard. Thus, overall reliability not that good.

I plan on keeping the car because I've some great memories in it and also because I've replaced so many parts in it that it's practically new! I'm going down with the ship!

Same as most reviews. Bad ball joints. Replaced at 60,000 and again recently at 72,000. The worst part about is that no one, not any of the dealerships or Jeep corporation, can tell me how to prevent this/fix the problem for good.

The exterior of this Jeep looked awesome, that is what made me buy this car.
It is very easy to drive.

Get Ready. Gas mileage? Yeah right! It's terrible, and I have owned many cars. Ok, the suspension is horrible. I have exactly 50,000 miles on this. Ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, struts, rotors, wheel bearings, and some other things.

Also the worst investment I have ever purchased.
I bought this old 84'Ram to haul some stuff about 3/12 yrs ago for 300 dollars. I haven't had one problem and also gets crappy gas mileage... My Jeep compass was towed back to the house with a car dolly on that old crappy truck. Think about it.

The styling is great.
Find the seats comfortable and is great for hauling things.
Fit and finish in the interior is not bad. No squeaks.
Ride is a little rough but the tires cause this too.
Goes where you point it and stops very well.

This suspension rust and wear out problem is horrible. When your service writer gets to know you on a first name basis you know it is bad. Luckily I bought the extended warranty and have talked to Jeep about the problem and got some satisfaction from that.

My gas mileage is 21/24 could be better because I am not a lead foot.

Not a bad car. Bought Buicks in the past, but have a handicapped wife that had a problem getting out of. Also her wheel chair was a problem in a car with a trunk. Thinking about it actually had more problems with the Buicks and visited the dealership more often.

Attractive price for a crossover SUV.

Needs a better interior, better four wheel drive system, and better visibility (too many blind spots).
Need to use better quality steel in the nuts and bolts.

2007 Jeep Compass Review:
Overall the vehicle is horrible. When we first bought it the mpg was 26/32 with around 28 mpg mixed driving. Now, no matter what I try I can't get it above 27 mph hwy and 24 mpg mixed. I've replaced both balljoints twice, two struts, two brake calipers, one wheel bearing, one timing control solenoid, both outer tie rod ends, both inner tie rod ends, and two sway bar links. Most of these repairs came inside of 76k miles and the first set of ball joints came at 48k. We traded a 96 Cherokee Sport that was the best vehicle we've ever owned for the 07 Compass that is hands down the worst vehicle we've ever owned. My 02 Subaru gets better mpg, has a better AWD system, and requires much less maintenance. I'll not let my wife buy another Jeep again unless they show drastic improvements in quality and design.

I had to replace the ball joints and my car only has 34,000 miles on it. I was told that ball joints shouldn't have to be replaced until about 100,000 miles. Ridiculous.

I am surprised and told by everyone (including Mechanics) that I should not have to replace my suspension system since I only have 54,000 miles on my vehicle. The wheel bearings, axles, brakes, tie rods, lower control arm, ball joints, fastened with rusty screws and bolts are all a piece of work! And, it is very expensive to fix this vehicle. A recall is definitely needed on the 2007 Jeep Compass. Thank goodness they have changed the front-end of the 2011 Jeep Compass -- looks are deceiving. At least you don't have to worry about hitting the front end because the vehicle sits too low to the ground.

Such a shame, I don't want another Chrysler product as a result of this. I feel very cheated by the appearance. At this point, I would rather be paying for the performance.

I would definitely improve the suspension system in the vehicle. I believe there should be a recall just like the Jeep Liberty had.
There should also be a recall on the screws/bolts on various parts in this vehicle. They rust and corrode, and strip out easily.
Also, the gas mileage is not as good as they say it is.
The Chrysler Dealer's price just to check the vehicle is horrible, and they should be ashamed of themselves as well as not being responsible for the way this car was made.

This car as been an absolute disaster, headache, and money pit. I have problems with it stalling out any time when it is wet or cold outside. It is an automatic transmission and will just suddenly drop in power as if it has a major exhaust leak; I have been scared to stop at lights before for fear that it will go completely dead. I have taken it into the shop numerous times with claims that nothing was wrong with the vehicle, but clearly there is! I have had to have the front suspension repaired, steering, ball joints replaced, rods, tires and struts repaired as well. From there the car has just fallen apart mechanically, I am now about to spend more money fixing the Catalytic converter and am only at 65,000 miles.

I will NEVER buy another Jeep product again after having this car that has been an absolute MONEY PIT!!! If I was Jeep I would be embarrassed, and ashamed putting a product out there like this car!
