I was looking for a more earth friendly alternative to a SUV and liked the look, and practicality, and expecially the price. It's been a reliable car that proved solid in snow. Large feeling in a small package. Very economical compared to a small SUV. Cons: How would you improve 2007 Dodge Caliber?
I would improve the visability out the back window, the chill zone and allow the back or rear side windows to pop open for for additional air. Suits hauling my dogs. Concerned how a child would do in the backseat being that its sort of tight and tall. 2007 Dodge Caliber Review:
Generally. Has done the work of a small SUV for me on a compact budget. I have gotten numerous compliments on how it looks. I love the car and am unsure about the long run. Interested in seeing what Dodge says when my lease runs out. |

The CVT is elegantly smooth giving a magic carpet ride. Had a flat highway high of 34.9MPG & averaging 29.4MPG(see below). At higher speed passing acceleration is BETTER than 4 speed auto trannies. No repairs, creaks or rattles. Standard radio & CD player are great. With bad back Caliber is v. comfortable. 5 star dealer is great. Cons: How would you improve 2007 Dodge Caliber?
Poor rear visibility. Engine is computer controlled at LOW SPEED to limit rpms & acceleration thru CVT for more reliability. Caliber is not space efficient & backseat needs more room. 2007 Dodge Caliber Review:
Bought SE Caliber late Sept 2006. Waited for 16years for low priced reliable CVT. Bigger cars don't have the sensual CVT smoothness. Throw 4 speed auto trannies away. Initial average was 30+MPG. Trips over 4000 foot mountains from sealevel I got 32+MPG. With cold winter & winter mix gas, average dropped to 28.4MPG. With warmer spring & higher energy summer mix gas, my average has risen to 29.4MPG & continues to rise. Before my first year of ownership, I expect to average 30 to 31MPG. Engine & wind noise are low. Road noise is higher. Buy tires with a quiet rating to lower interior noise. Bright interior gives a cheery message. Chillzone keeps frigid drinks pleasantly cool for hours. I play an instrument & four 6 by 9 inch standard speakers are great. Bass gives rolling depth, midrange gives oboes & flutes fine presence, & treble has spicy violins. Only deaf rockers need the 450watt Musicgate extra. |

I just bought one. The Caliber feels and drive slike a truck. At first I thought that was bad, since I am used to Japanese cars, but I feel more secure on the highway. I like the cars appearance. This is only my second American car. Actually, the car is manufactured and assembled in Canada and Mexico and has some German engineering. It rides like a small truck. There is a feeling of sitting high up. It does not handle stiffly, it just has a feeling of being big and solid. The vehicle is easy to enter and exit. I do not feel like I have to call a chiropractor each time I get in or out. It takes some getting used to the CVT transmission. So far, the only thing wrong with the vehicle is that it is not as fuel efficient as modern technology could allow it to be. |
