2006 Saturn VUE Review:
We purchased the 06 VUE in Aug 2005 and just simply love it and now have 33,567 miles on it. The car has been fantastic with only one trip to the dealer for a driver’s seat belt replacement. The Honda engine and transmission have been great, it is soooo smooth. If you are not careful you could burn the tires off with hard acceleration. It gets good gas mileage as well, 20/21 in mixed driving and I have gotten as good as 31 on a road trip. The seats are very comfortable and all the controls on the steering wheel are great. The up-grade radio is the only way to go though, it is just super. The visibility from the driver’s seat is as good or better than any other SUV I have driven. The only drawback to this car is the front brake rotors, no rear disk brakes and no heated mirrors. With 33,000 miles on the car the front disk brake rotors are causing a vibration and peddle pulsation when brakes are applied and a noise that sounds like a wheel bearing is going out. I am getting ready to take it in to get them repaired which should be covered under warranty.
All In All, we love this SUV.
We stopped the other day to check out the new 2008 model along with the Outback but were not impressed with the new VUE. We like The 06 interior much better, the seats are not as comfortable, the arm rests on the doors are not comfortable and the center arm rest (the storage bin) is too low and not comfortable. The engine is now a GM engine which does not have as much power and does not get as good fuel mileage at least according to the sticker. Although we like our 06 styling We did think the outside styling of the 08 is better with the more rounded appearance. Also we did not like the rear floor area as the side storage boxes are smaller and are not flat to the floor. Another plus for the 08 is, you can get the heated mirrors finally.
We looked at the Outlook also but found the price a bit steep.
