| Pros: What do you like about 2006 Volvo XC90?
The 2006 XC90 is a fabulous vehicle.
It rides and drives securely with all of the most advanced safety features available.
Ingress and egress are very easy.
The high lift gate gives easy access.
There is plenty of room to carry all sorts of items including a bicycle.
The wide stance and the driving height give one high visibility.
Bottom line...it is a great vehicle...just the right amount of everything. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo XC90?

| 2006 Volvo XC90 Review:
I have been a loyal Volvo owner since 1998. I was so incredibly pleased with my Volvo cars that I told all of my family and friends that I would never buy another car. I am in my 40s so Volvo had my loyal business ahead of them for the rest of my life (30-40 years god willing).
Then my car's engine block cracked three weeks after the warranty expired. I have always serviced the car impeccably and I have the service records to prove it. Now, I am being asked by Volvo to spend $5,000-13,000 to repair the car. Furthermore, not a penny of assistance was offered. This is clearly a mechanical problem. If an engine can not hold oil for more than 2000 miles, it is not the fault of the owner; it is a problem with the machine.
I am now committed to getting rid of this car as fast as possible and I vow to NEVER buy or recommend a Volvo again. Furthermore, I am going to tell every person possible for on every internet site and conversation I have, to not buy a Volvo because they do not consistently make a quality product and will not back up their products when they fail. |

get a real all-wheel drive train, it's really a disguised front wheel drive Vehicle! that happens to have some traction in the rear wheels. 2006 Volvo XC90 Review:
this vehicle has a whining fan noise that the shop could not fix. they said all V8's (Volvo's XC 90's) had it! the whole front headlight assembly had to be replaced, (it fused together), now it has one Headlight brighter than the other, poor mileage, small gas tank (18 gallons), had trouble with the sun- roof, Brakes have a long foot play.
will replace permanently as soon as I owe less than it's worth. never will buy another Volvo again. too much money -not enough car. |

The safety features are very good. It is really a smart body design. Very comfortable, especially the passenager seat. Smooth ride. Have 2007 Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo XC90?
The running boards are an awful design. They are not functional. Have a door or seat rattle. Poor gas mileage Transmission is different than all my past vehicles. It has been adjusted once.

It is a really nice SUV, but I'm disappointed with the problems that I've had. This is my first Volvo. Don't know if I'll purchase another one. I guess I'll know in time. I hope it lives up to it's reputation. |

Can not think of any 2006 Volvo XC90 Review:
We bought 2005 V8 which was produced in the summer -identical to 2006 MY. The SUV is great on all the roads -V8 is VERY quiet at any highway speed, and the truck holds the road even at speeds 95-100 MPH. The ride is also very comfy without compromizing handling -very minimal body roll comparing to other makes (Lexus, MDX).
Good reliability - had a couple of minor glitches nothing major. |

Again, the traction is the worst of any vehicle that I have ever owned. The traction control is hazardous, as you don't get any RPM when pulling out, and that is the default. I got stuck at traffic lights, on flat surface, and it would lose traction going under overpasses on the highway......which I have never had a vehicle do before. I road-race, and have never had less confidence in a vehicle. |

a little larger inside -- to make 3rd row actually comfortable for more than a 45 min drive 2006 Volvo XC90 Review:
excellent suv -- was initially concerned regarding some of the negative press that the xc90 received when it was first released; then, in talking with the salespeople, realized that majority of probs were engine related from the t6 which is no longer available. have had only one prob -- when driving the car at highway speeds, i heard a noise that i can only describle as a siren's scream. did some research, found out it likely was coming from the roof rack -- brought it in, fixed in 30 min. no other probs. ife, for whom car was for, loves it -- very solid drive. |

We've had to bring out car in several times already and it's 4 months old. The heat was blowing hot and cold air which turned out to be a software problem. It was also making a very annoying whirring noise, which we were told was normal for rack and pinion steering. It finally went away after our last visit to the shop. Gas mileage is poor. Design on some of the dials aren't to great since they have little faint light indcators which are impossible to read in the sun(the fan level indicator, e.g.) The trunk unlock feature is annoying, you can't just pop the trunk. |

- the brown "wood" trim is just a high gloss formica that isn't particularly attractive. - the manual shift part of the automatic is backwards, at least from a BMW owner's perspective. We bought this for my wife. I'm a BMW nut, but the X3 was too small and the X5 was just too expensive. I didn't even drive it until she picked it up. Now, when we go out, I love to take HER Volvo. I'm amazed at how peppy the 2.5 engine really is. The seats are as comfortable as the ones in my BMW 530i sedan, and I like the higher visibility. Heated seats work great, the climate control is easy to use and the stereo is great for a stock unit. FM and AM reception is far reaching and quiet. My only complaint is the drive around town gas mileage is a poor 14.5 mpg. On the highway, I can get about 19. We love the XC90. We got in silver with black leather interior, so it will look good for years! |

Comfortable leather interior, heated seats, awesome V8, outstanding handling in all conditions, excellent interior and exterior design, wood steering wheel with illuminated radio and cruise buttons, no-nonsense dash console, there aren't a zillion of these on the road...I hate cookie cutter cars! "Premium" sound system is not the best. No factory installed satellite radio option, no cell phone integration, no remote start option. Third row seating which I don't use takes up too much 2nd row space. Poorly engineered floor tracks on front seats which is an eye-sore. 2006 Volvo XC90 Review:
Outstanding performance, ride and handling. Does not drive like an SUV at all. By far the best "SUV" I've ever driven. Extremely fast and agile for a 4600 pound car. The V8 sounds great and is also a work of engineering art. The fit and finish of the XC90 is about as good as it gets. Compared the XC90 to a BMW X5 which costs at least $10,000 more and the Volvo wins hands down. Plus, I'm a big guy, 6'4", 265 pounds and feel very comfortable in the car. I can't say that about many vehicles. For the price, sticker was about $50,000, it can't be beat. |
