2006 Volvo S80

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Volvo S80?
I like the design, the responsive engine, and the extremely comfortable seating.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S80?
This car has plenty of legroom. I am 6 feet tall and it is the first car that has more legroom than I need. I would like it if the steering wheel would telescope toward me about two more inches so I could rest my arms more comfortably on the armrests while I am all the way in the back position.

2006 Volvo S80 Review:
I just bought this Volvo a few weeks ago and really love it. It is six years old and has 56,000 miles on it but drives like it is brand-new. It has plenty of power. I'm not sure why others rate it so low in this regard. Lightly touching the gas at highway speed rockets me forward! It's amazing! And so smooth… Quiet… Comfortable… By far the best car I ever had!

I love the exterior styling and the classy interior.

The car has adequate but not impressive acceleration.

It does not handle well in tight turns and is more of a cruiser and luxury car and great for trips.

I have found it reliable with no serious maintenance issues.

It is a very safe and comfortable car. Safe and secure is the best way to describe it.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S80?
It needed more power and got it with the new T6. But the newer Volvo reduced backseat area. More back room space is needed for passenger comfort on long trips.

Understated elegance. Very strong car with good performance. Others may be faster however. Super comfortable seats and interior very well done. Good assortment of accessories and gadgets. World's safest car. Wonderful feel to the car when moving. Decent mileage. Fit and finish are excellent.

The "get up" provided with the turbo. The smooth handling in winter with the AWD.

Need to add a simple compass in the dash or mirror. More legroom in the rear seat.

Very pleased with the handling especially in the winter. The AWD is smooth and responsive. Would like to have features such as compass, GPS, and or Navigational software. Exterior has a clean line and I love the feeling of safety and confidence I have knowing my family is riding in a Volvo.

Leather is very nice quality. The reverse alert system has been a bumper- saver numerous times for me already. The cabin is very, very quiet. Compared to many in the same car class, passenger room is very good (especially when compared to Lexus).

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S80?
The range of movement on the steering wheel could be improved. I'm a big guy and driver side leg room (particularly the left) is a little tight. There's only one power outlet in the front cabin, not good if you have a radar detector and a phone charger.

2006 Volvo S80 Review:
I didn't buy this car for the power... and it's a good thing. Acceleration is poor at best. My 2002 Toyota 4Runner SUV seemed to have better acceleration. Handling is a bit sketchy as well. HOWEVER, what I did buy this car for... comfort, safety, quality, value - it's a homerun. Compared against some of the other luxury sedans, this is a value buy and a good entry level luxury sedan. It may disturb many that Volvo is now owned by Ford, but rest assured that Volvo has been able to keep quality issues to a minimum.

2006 Volvo S80 Review:
I loved the interior design and features, like heated seats, separate right-left heating controls, etc., but I really fell in love when I drove the car. Acceleration is excellent; reminds me of a Chevy 350-4 barrel v-8 I once had. Road feel, suspension and braking are outstanding. Owning this car makes me feel like I just want to hit the road and throw it around a road course. It makes driving fun again.

Leather interior, inlaid wood trim and steering wheel, seats are very comfortable, supportive. The exterior finish and trim appears to be excellent. I also enjoy the spirited engine with the 2.5 turbo. Plenty of power when I need it (but haven't used it much so far).

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S80?
Improve the gas mileage. For a car this size, with a turbo engine, it's amazingly bad when compared to a car like the Toyota Avalon (larger car, bigger engine, and much better gas mileage).

2006 Volvo S80 Review:
I love everything about this car except the gas mileage. The dealer told me that I could expect to get up to 24 mpg around town (really, I asked twice and had it confirmed?ǪVolvo only says 20 mpg). I am lucky to get 17.5 mpg, and I am driving very conservatively (with a combo of local and highway). When I asked the Dealer, I was told that the mileage was probably due to the car being AWD. Funny, that isn't what he said when he was trying to sell me the car. Also, Dealer said to use regular gas (in spite of Volvo recommending super unleaded). I am in the process of upgrading my fuel and hoping to see the numbers improve. Otherwise, I love this car.
