I like the styling and reliability. Interior finish is nice.
It's fairly zippy. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S60?
I would like a better basic radio system and have a plug in for my i pod or i phone.
Would also want firmer and tighter handling on curves, bumpy roads, or when driving it hard.
Would also like better gas mileage.
Would also like less expensive dealer service.

I initially hated the 60, wondering, after owning four other volvos since 1985, why I bought a gussied up Ford Contour instead of a real automobile.
Well, slowly but surely, I began to love the car, and have arrived at where I was with the other Volvos: I now enjoy taking care of it and keeping it mechanically intact. My favorite to take care of was my'99 S70 that my daughter is still driving with 200K miles on it. Now that was a cherry vehicle.
I like the car and learned to cope with the facts that the doors don't close like european Volvos and the car doesn't smell like a traditional Volvo, and the car has rattles that Volvos usually don't. I suppose even Volvos had to change, but am still suspicious that the change happened after Ford bought the company. |

Horrible in snow - it slides everywhere in any amount of precipitation and also gets stuck all the time in over 24" of snow - I mean can't get to work stuck.

Very comfortable, with tons of get up and go.
I love the styling and feel very proud when I get in the car.
Love all the electronics eg dstc memory seats, heated.
Love the fact you can't lock the keys in the car.
Auto lights.
Very unusual rear fog light, never saw this before.
Front interior very comfy. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S60?
Bad turning radius.
Trunk too small.
Very hard to judge rear when backing up. Rear sonar should definately be standard equipment.
I also find the ride very hard with the low profile 245x45x17 inch wheels, you feel ever bump in the road.
Rear seat not made to seat any body - too cramped, good for front passenger only. 2006 Volvo S60 Review:
Overall we are only two and don't need the rear seats. Aside from all the cons, love the car. |

Just bought the 2006 S60R. Owned a 2002 Volvo S60 2.5T prior. Had a major accident with the 2002 (50+mph). S60 saved my life. S60R- nice style, great power, smooth ride. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S60?

This is the 4th Volvo in the family.. We traded a S70.. The S60 is quiter/ the ride overall frame is more rigid/ the engine is powerful even on the standard version. Hold on for dear life if you flooor it while passing especially...The leather is quite nice.. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S60?
Interior foot room is limited for tall passengers.. the seats are not as comfortable as those in the S70 2006 Volvo S60 Review:
We purchased the car for my wife to primarily drive since she runs up and down the Jersey turnpike.. Safety was the issue and the S60 ranks as one of the safest on the road. However I have found that the S70 was more comfortable on long trips.. the seats and ergonomics were just right for me.. its a shame that the S70 seats were not in the S60.. .Foot room is not ample either both in the front and in the back seat. If you are a timny person the car is great for you. However I am not tiny and find the car cramped when doing long trips. |

Blind spot in back due to window design, needs a little more rear leg room, would prefer auto locking of the doors. Have to lock them manually 2006 Volvo S60 Review:
The leather and sport package make this car as much fun to drive as my husband's BMW 530i. Plus, I didn't have to drive around with the owners manual the first week like he did. |

I owned a 98 Mercedes C230 and was thinking about getting a new one. Instead I bought this car. I was in for a surprise. Here are the major issues I have found with this car: poor turning radius, loud engine noise, very rough ride and between 50 - 60 mph the car struggles with what the right shift should be so the steering wheel vibrates ever so slightly. Then there are the little things: headrest doesn't move, you have a button to open your gas tank but not one for your trunk, your driver door does not lock when the car takes off, the key is extremely bulky and heavy (I am a woman so I put it in my purse, feel bad for the guys that have to carry it around in their pockets). |

Fuel economy could be better. 2006 Volvo S60 Review:
There was an initial problem with the starter fuse, causing the car to die twice, but since then it has run flawlessly. The turbo kicks in immediately (I don't know what they mean when they say lag, because there is none.) This is the most comfortable car to take on a long trip. You can't beat Volvo's seats. |

I have owned my S60 for three months, and have 2,400 miles on it. The car has performed perfectly, with no flaws mechanically or in its worksmanship. I enjoy the interior comfort, and the turbocharged engine, which really jumps when you punch the pedal. I get about 21 mpg in town, and 29 mpg on the open road. The car is agile on the road, feels firm, and gives a smooth ride. To me, it's a much better car and value than competitors at Acura, BMW and Lexus. |

Power and acceleration are very smooth - haven't found a speed where the trannie jerks between gears yet. Handles very well with a pretty good suspension. Lights up the world at night - great night vision. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volvo S60?
The tip of my foot occassionally rubs under the dash when switching from the brake to the accelerator. A few more locations for storing items would be handy. The key is slightly bulky to carry around. There is virtually no leg room for rear passengers with a tall person in a front seat. 2006 Volvo S60 Review:
A wonderful vehicle. The car has a smooth transmission with lots of power out of the gates. Very comfortable interior with a seat that even provides upper back support. A better bargain than a BMW or Audi; the interior displays/controls are more visible and reachable, and are as intuitive in an Acura - in my opinion. Good visibility all around. Really like the safety features - esp the whip lash protection system. (Though I would not recommend the wood steering wheel option - no grip on the wheel during a test drive.) |

I bought this car this November and I absolutely LOVE it! I planned on getting 2006 BMW 325xi and was very impressed with it, but there was something missing. The Volvo dealership was across the street so I ventured over to take a look at the S60. After test driving the S60 I fell in love with it. It drives with such a well balance of performance and luxury that is just incomparable for the price. I was given nearly $2700 off the msrp of $38,885..BMW wasnt going to give me anything off(b/c its a new a highly desirable car they said.. haha..they lost a not so BMW 325xi desirable customer) The Magic Blue is an absolute beauty..although it's difficult to keep clean..and the sport pkg.is a must! |

I test drove a BWW, Acura and the S60. For the price, it was not even close. The S60's comfort level, performance and safety features were either comparable or superior to the BMW and Acura. I have a 2 yr. old, so I weighed safety pretty heavily in my buying decision. The S60 has more than enough power + I did not feel the "turbo lag". I found the turbo to be smooth and responsive. |

the best luxury car i could find for under 36k & i test drove them all bmw, mercedes, audi, cadillac cts, jag.. far more interior room then them all and i am a big guy 5`11,, 300 pounds so i know about interior room space..the performance is great the turbo gives the car great boost,, the front seats are the most comfortable seats of them all they are outrageous.. plus they are also heated great for the back... |
