Bad cams in motor - 200000 kms, 3500.00 dollar job to fix. But make a complaint to Volkswagen and they say there is no problem, I'm the first. But if you read the forums, you see this is not true. If anyone else has this problem, complain. |

Acceleration the first year and a half was great.
Handled well, fuel economy was awessome went to Londong, ON from NS and back 220.

Overall in a small sense the car is great, many "strange" things broke when they should not have. Lights continue to burn out, air fan and cooling fan broke $800, fly wheel, cv joint boot, blower fan (twice) and a couple of other issues. Acceleration SUCKS after almost 4 years. Rusting on engine hood and panel that meets hood. I got this car based on the "strong" German engineering !!! I'm highly disappointed. I owned a 89 VW Fox and another. NEVER went wrong with it !!! |

Headliner started failing at 60k miles. Who has ever heard of a headliner falling down on a 3yr. old car? Out of warranty, out of luck. I hope the rest of the car isn't engineered to fall apart soon after the warranty is gone. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:

Fuel economy on TDI is great, sporty handling.

Transmission defective after 187,000 km .
Cam shaft construction and material defective cam shaft completely destroyed with only 187,000 km. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
Very disappointed purchased and financed a car for over 6 years did not get much more than three years of highway driving before major issues power train and motor. Volkswagon Canada totally abandoned me no help and no help from dealer. Very poor paint job paint on bumpers peeling in first couple of years, poor finish dulls fast even though waxed every year. |

The radio is junk! Had a Bose system in prior car then moved into the Jetta and was super disappointed with the sound performance. Taken back to service department and they were unable to fix. I actually traded car in for another Jetta hoping it would change. Still junk. Looking at purchasing another car, not another Jetta. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:

Leather wrapped steering wheel as mine looks 20 years old. VW service is terrible. I am onto my 3rd VW dealership and they have had my car in at least half a dozen times for several days and still haven't fixed the shake in by car. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
I love driving my car and how much I can fit in the trunk. It would be a great car if VW could fix the shake. I haven't found another car that is comparable with the fuel economy and the trunk space. |

My headliner failed at 70k, and is still falling down. Dealer told me not under warranty, cost to fix will be over 600.00.

Use metal where needed (Visor arm, seat adjustment handles, etc.); get away from so much cheap plastic! A little more horsepower and torque please! The TDI has so-so power but realistically needs another 50hp and 100ft/lb of torque to really make it special. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
This is my first VW so I'm new to German engineering. I don't know why VW is inherently synonymous with poor quality. Every car manufacturer has its quirks, however, I believe VW consistently has more quirks than most. As a new owner of a 2006 Jetta TDI, my experience is limited and so is my list of problems with the car to date. The only problems to date is a faulty driver’s side window and the steering wheel alignment being a little off center. Nevertheless, this car has been exceptional. I only wish the power range was much greater with the TDI. Another 50hp along with the torque gains that would produce with a diesel would be an added benefit. |

My fuel economy with 50 mpg with my diesel engine gives me a highway range of over 700 miles; beat that with a civic!. . . combined with my driver seat comfort with my power seat & power lumbar package makes this care a joy to drive (and I drove 40,000 miles per year). Fit and finish are also outstanding by comparison. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?
Maybe a bit quieter but I'll swap that with mydiesel mileage any day. |

I like the new body...it drove great in the beginning,has good pickup, love the extra outlets for phone chargers. The interior is great, the seats are extremely comfortable. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volkswagen Jetta?
Well i have about 15000 miles on my car and it started making a really loud noise, then the car would not accelerate and the rpms would be going all over the place. The dealership asked if i got all my oild changes which i most def have but really nothing should be wrong with the car this early. They are having the manufacture come look at my car to see what the problem is. The service with vw and vw roadside assistance def needs improvements. 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
