| Pros: What do you like about 2006 Volkswagen Beetle?
My wife is 5'11 and I am 6'6. We used to own a BMW Z3 into which we folded and cramped ourselves, though the ride was worth it. I recently purchased a BMW Z4 3.0 for her and she made me take it back. Too hard, too manly and too low. Ok, so what next. Well, together we shopped and purchased a gently use '06 Beetle with rag top, Tiptronic, Monsoon w/6 cd changer, heated seats and a ton of interior room. The new 2.5 is super smooth through all the gears and we just it. Ok, it still isn't make in Detroit, but after a ride in a new Sky turbo, we made the right choice. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volkswagen Beetle?
Just a tad windy with the top down, but definitely not as bad as the Z or other real sport cars. This is a low and slow landcruiser with verve, great dark gray metallic paint and nicely thought out wheels. The interior is a little basic, but not a plastic bowl like some of the American counterparts, oh I hate saying that. I really have no gripes, especially since the interior room is just wonderful. 2006 Volkswagen Beetle Review:
Overall, this is a definite 4.5 out of five. Nothing really is a 5, even the high end cars, but this is close. The only consolation is that it is made NEAR the USA in Mexico, but once you drive one, few things in the price range will do. |

Only had 17,000K when purchased in October-2008; now has 30+K with no major problems (was Certified/pre-owned).
Solid body, feel safe riding in it.
Handles fantastic in the snow and on ice.
Love the automatic sunroof and the Monsoon radio/CD/Mp3 player. My IPod Touch music sounds GREAT...especially The Beatles & Simon & Garfunkle :)
Get lots of looks, comments, and smiles.
The heated seats are a big PLUS in the winter.

Mileage is less than expected - 22-26 mpg, but not bad for a "fun" car.
Takes longer to warm up in the winter than my '05 Focus.
Have to go 35 miles out of town for dealer warranty service.
Hard to see out the back right passenger window, when backing out of a diagonal parking space.
Otherwise, no complaints from this old broad. I'm having fun with it. 2006 Volkswagen Beetle Review:
Bought my one-owner,Certified 2006 New Beetle, Shadow Blue, in October-2008. It had about 17,000K on it; now has 30K. No problems other than a thermostat fuse that needs replaced. Get the oil changed at the local dealer (runs on regular oil just as well as the synthetic stuff, for around $30.00). Love the automatic sunroof, the leather (gray) interior, Mp3 and CD player. Makes me feel young driving it (I'm 67). You only live once. I put on my NASCAR hat and sunglasses and cruise. (I) don't use the Triptonic Standard shift often, but I know that "S" on the gear shift means "PEEL OUT!" (?) |

We recently replaced my Wife's 2001 Beetle with an 06 Platinum Convertible and she absolutely loves it. We chose the Manual Top which is easy to operate (as long as you have the strength to lock it down when open) and doesn't have the problems down the road with motor/hydraulic problems. The new i5 motor is very smooth and preforms 300% better than the old 4cyl. a vast improvement, the 6-spd Tiptronic is awesome too...although she only used it the first week. It's very comfortable and roomy for 2 people, it will accomodate rear seat passengers for short trips, the top down makes it easier for rear passengers to get in and out of. I insisted on the wind deflector, with the side windows up it makes it a very nice wind free drive, without it...watch out, convertible hair will be the look for YOU today. I'd highly recommend you go for this Accessory, I think it was around $300?? Well worth it though. The sound system is very good...you can plug your ipod into it, or other mp3 player, however, it won't charge and you can't operate it through the Head unit.
The 06 version is better in the looks dept too, new squared off Fenders, a better front and rear end, nice Factory alloys. My Wife LOVES Her liddle Beetle, which is all that counts. I'd highly recommend it even though I've only driven it twice, she hides the Keys from me ;-) Cons: How would you improve 2006 Volkswagen Beetle?

I love the CD Player and MP3 jack. The chrome detailing is a welcome addition, as is the redesigned center console. The new engine also gives it a sporty edge and extra zip in acceleration. This is my second New Beetle, and I love it just as much as the first! I love the new paint options, (mine is Salsa Red) and the new interior refresh. It is easy on gasonline, and reliable under the hood...this car is again, a winner! The front seat passengers enjoy large amounts of leg room and head-space. The vehicle is safe and incredibly fun to drive. I always wonder if people on the road are looking at my car and wishing they had it :) |

the seatwarmers are great. The satelite radio is fun, but not necessay. Everything is in arms reach. My favorite feature is the area under the radio. It's perfect to put sunglasses, ipod, wallet, etc. The aux port for MP3 player sounds GREAT. The new lights and exterior stand out from the other Beetles. I have the harvest beige color, and it is really hard to keep it clean, but I still love it and don't regret it at all. The driver seat squeeks just a little bit, but I'm sure my dealership will take care of that when it gets its oil change in a few weeks. Other than that, I love it! 2006 Volkswagen Beetle Review:
I went from having a Ford Explorer to my 2006 Volkswagen Beetle, so the change in what I was spending on gas was fantastic. I also went from having a 6-cyclinder to a 5, honestly you can't tell the difference. And don't think you're going to feel like just another person with a Beetle. The new lights and lines make it look noticeably different. It is so fun to drive, so really get the dealership to let you test drive it. If you get the harvest beige, the Mr. Clean magic erasers are awesome at getting left over adhesive and little skuff marks off the car :). |

I found the 2006 Volkswagen Beetle to be very nimble and easy to handle. It has all the power I can ask for in a compact car. With just my wife and I this is more than enough car for us to use and it is getting about 26 MPG and it doesn't even have 1,000 miles on it. My other car is a GMC Yukon XL that gets about half the gas mileage. |

My 2006 Volkswagen Beetle is a great, fun to drive, the engine is peppy with plenty of power, you get a lot for your money in this car. I have only a few concerns, the wind noise. With the CD going you'll never notice it though. Also, the car's ride is a bit stiff and it doesn't take bumps well. There is an engine (drivetrain) rattle/noise about 1,500 rpm that seems to get better the warmer the car gets. Overall this is a lot of car for the money. The base price gets you air, electric locks / windows, cruise, and more.. |

This car is as fun to drive as it is to look at! People smile and wave and give me the thumbs up, when I drive. When I park, someone almost always wants to ask about my little luxury convertible! The power and handling are very impressive, almost like a small sports car, especially with the Tiptronic transmission! I am very pleased with comfort, handling and performance, but a little disappointed in the gas mileage! |
