The total styling of this vehicle is much improved over the previous model. I have received many compliments on the styling of this model. Very smooth and quiet ride and great leg room throughout. Fuel economy is good and power there when you need it. The Audio and Nav systems are great, but you must spend some time and read the manual to fully take advantage of all the features that it offers. The handling is improved over the previous model. The auto dimming mirrors took a little getting used to, but I have come to really appreciate this feature. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Toyota Avalon?
Although the overall handling is improved over the previous model, the steering could still be a little tighter. My previous Avalon had real wood trim, although it looks nice, I think the artificial wood trim is a step backward. Folding side view mirrors would be a good upgrade to this car, most cars in this category have them. I thought it was an oversight by Toyota on the previous model, but again Toyota did not put them on the redesigned model. I have read complaints about the Nav system, but I found it to be packed full of nice features, but I had to read the manual to fully understand how to use them. Maybe Toyota can make it more user friendly. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
Overall this is an excellent car, roomy, stylish, a lot of features and great quality. Lexus features without the Lexus price. I have heard the Avalon referred to as a Lexus Lite, I take that as a compliment to the quality of the car. |

The Voice Activated Navigation is a blast, the laser cruise is an excellent feature... ahhh yes, then there is that silky ride and silky engine and transmission. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Toyota Avalon?
I wish the car would have at least come pre-wired for XM or Sirius satellite radio. I have to have that installed after market at the dealer. Also, the navigation voice should mute the radio when giving commands. Other than that, nothing else. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
Just picked up my new Limited 4 days ago. This is my third Avalon. I tooled around with getting the ES 330 and the IS 350, but this car really has got the room and ride without spending the money on a LS430 to get it. Gorgeous interior design and fit and finish. My friends who are seeing it are flipping out!!!!A lot of value for the money. |

Exterior design (mine is all white with black pin-striping and trim on doors and wheel wells... it's just HOT looking! And the power is awesome for a 4-door sedan... Fix the computer display. On my 2000 avalon I could program the data I wanted. The 2005/06 only has static displays that cannot be manually reset or programmed. Toyota short sheeted this item on the car; in the computer age, that's just nonsense (its to easy to include a state of the art system. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
This car is way different from my 2000 Avalon (which looked like a grandpa car). The 2005/06 is hot looking and had the power to match almost any car on the road. The torque is huge for a 6-cylinder and the mileage is great for a 268 hp engine. The only problem is getting used to the computerized controls (braking and accelerator). The computer programming causes annoying shifting and some delays in reaction times. |

Make the navigation's voice command confirmation "OK" instead of "Yes". The voice recognition software often confuses "Gas" with "Yes", displaying gas station POI icons instead of confirming previous voice command. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
Previous car was the Lexus LS.I commute 90 miles daily and didn't want to put that many miles on a Lexus. So I got the Avalon and bought a Honda S2000 convertible with the savings. The Avalon is very, very close to Lexus levels of luxury and refinement. No better value anywhere. |

Tighten the chassis and bodywork to keep it solid with increased mileage. Folding mirrors that dip in reverse for parallel parking. Although it's too new to us to enable a reliability review, I'm expecting a "9". It came with a malfunctioning laser cruise which was repaired no charge. Excellent, comfortable highway cruiser, efficient, roomy, powerful, and luxurious. The nav is much better than in our BMW. Radio is excellent if not audiophile quality. Body design is much improved over the prior model. Moonroof open is quiet and doesn't overventilate. Oversteers (as do FWD cars) and particularly so in the wet. It's a cruiser, not a sports sedan. It could use a backup camera. Seats are comfortable but could use better bolstering. Flat rear floor is excellent. Some more trunk space and some less rear legroom. |

I do love the interior and exterior design and the fuel economy, yet it has the power to outrun any competing vehicles in its class. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Toyota Avalon?
Seat cushion is short, it needs to be lengthened just a little bit for better thigh support. Also, it needs lateral support. The car itself shows significant lean on corners, it needs little more sporty type support. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
I really wanted a car with very simple features and not too complicated to use. This is the car that I have been looking for. I have test drove Acura TL and Lexus ES330, but I have found Avalon to be the car that fits my taste. Simply you don't need to read manual to operate the vehicle and it is that simple to use. |

I bought this car after reading some really positive reviews. I don't know what they were thinking. I think this car is boring and ponderous to drive. And the quality is so-so. It is pretty quiet, but so are a lot of other cars out there. Mark me as disappointed. I really liked my old Lexus a lot better (but I don't like the new Lexuses (Lexi?) as much as the old). Toyota didn't hit the mark on this car. |

| 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
I really liked my new Avalon until it snowed. The traction control keeps me from going up any kind of steeper hills!! I was not able to get up a slight grade near my church because once the front tires started slipping the traction control shut off all power. I have never experienced anything like that. The dealership says I cannot turn off the traction control device, which leads me to believe I'll go back to driving my old Lincoln in the winter, which I gave to my son too early! |

This may seem minor, but the cup holders in the front are very bad. My Solara's cup holder actually held the cups and cans. In the Avalon the cup holders are so large I have to hold my non- alcoholic drinks myself. Folding side rear-view mirrors would have been nice. 2006 Toyota Avalon Review:
Try it, - you'll like it. Just traded in my 2004 Solara for the big Toyota. My family and friend love the roominess in the rear. I love the power and the distinguished appearance. I have the black with the ivory interior. Bee-yoo-tee-ful!! |
