Awful fuel mileage.
Small steering radius.
The odd starting issue.
Idles funny and sluggish from time to time.

The looks, the handling and general engine performance.
We have owned this vehicle since new, lady driven and nearly 100% highway mileage less than 30,000 mile (50,000kms) in the shop several times. But read on.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac Torrent?
The gas mileage is not as good as expected under normal driving, under highway speeds will not get more than 27 miles per gallon (Canadian gallon) 10 litres/100kms. Many other complaints the same, poor lighting and turning radius terrible, small gas tank. Now for the repairs. Over 3000.00 in repairs so far, not counting oil changes, now in the shop needing a new fuel pump- $1400.00 part and $300.00 labour. Time to sell this lemon!

2006 Pontiac Torrent Review:
It was nice when it was new, but still with few kms on it, it seems to have overstayed its welcome. I am disappointed that a vehicle that was $34000.00 plus when it was new has cost us so much in the few years and little kms we have put on it. I am currently researching new Chrysler300's after having owned GM products for over 20 years.

Ever since I bought my Torrent, I had nothing but trouble. Now it's the heater.. I've been to the garage so many times I lost count.

After buying it had to have a new rearend put in with only 50,000 miles. Wish I would have looked around more before I decided to buy this. I'm beginning to wonder if it's not a lemon.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Pontiac Torrent?
I like its look and it is made better than the Saturn Vue or Chevy Equinox.

It's got some good power. I can step on the gas and it gets up to 60 in a little time.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac Torrent?
I would like the AWD to have better gas mileage.

The steering ratio is too short. I cannot pull up into a parking spot without having to back up and pull in again in order to park straight.

I also do not like the fact that the window buttons on the console are not lighted. When it's dark you cannot see them.

I do not like the fact that the glove box does not have a light in it. Again during the dark, you cannot see in your glovebox.

Another problem I have is when I open the back hatch door, the overhead lights do not come on. A real problem at night.

I have only 25K miles on my Torrent and already there is something wrong with my ABS/Traction Control.

Overall, I like the Torrent, but I wish Pontiac had spent a little bit more money on making it turn shorter and improving on some of the interior light fixtures.

It is easy to park, just the right size for me.

Change that little cover that protects the drive shafts to something that will stand up against the Michigan weather.

Better seat covering.

Sun visors mirrors that do not break the first time you use them.

2006 Pontiac Torrent Review:
At first I really like my torrent, but after driving my car for 3 1/2 years, all highway driving, my rubber joint that connects the two drive shaft had to be replace. In all my experience of driving a car, I am 65 years old, I don't think this part should have gone bad.

Also the drivers seat had to be replace and again it is falling apart.

I am not hard on my Torrent but these little things all add up to a lot of money.

The extra leg room in the back is very comfortable.

I have had a lot of problems with the hub bearings. They should find a better supplier. I've replaced mine twice - very expensive and Pontiac doesn't care.

2006 Pontiac Torrent Review:
I really like the car and have not had any problems with the engine performance, never been in for any repairs under the hood, only hub bearings. The Torrent is a 2006 and I have 88,000 miles on it. Hub Bearings went at 49,000 miles and Pontiac wouldn't do anything for me. I've owned Pontiacs before and had over a hundred thousand miles and never replaced a hub bearing.

to have this car built heavier because the FWD is terrible in the snow. I would have never bought this SUV if I ner how awfulm it was. I would have kept my 2003 Grand Am with the RAM air

I would say if you leave in a area where it snows I would 100% suggest to get ge AWD

larger engine...seems this one is a bit out dated. More options on the FWD model.
