Rotors wearing prematurely.
The fading red color of the radio lights.
But in case no one is aware, GM has stopped the Pontiac brand of cars so I guess that's good. |

Everything. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I brought my Ponitac G6 November 2006. The following week there was problems with the heating system. Remind you it only had 8,000 miles.
3 years later problems with the brakes making loud noises, rotors, etc. Also my check engine light came on took it to the dealer they said it need reseting. WRONG 2 hours later the light came right back on and the dealer was closed.
The sale guy told me a GM specialist was coming in and he would be able to tell me what was wrong. I thought that's what you had mechanics for. Well 5 days later I was still in a loaner lucky I have extended warranty.
I hate the Pontiac G6 and would recommend this car to no one. And as of April 2010 I will no longer have one. |

Lack of support by GM on this vehicle. It's a 2006 ...the 2007 has a 100000 warranty, which when I bought mine, brand new in 09/2005, I was unaware of the 2007 having a better warranty. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I loved this car at first. Then around 28000, the right wheel bearing needed replaced. I asked the dealership to inspect the left one also, they stated that they did, but @ ~38000 the left wheel bearing went out. I had to contact GM to get this taken care of. Now, the right wheel bearing needs replaced & the left ball joint also! I have 93000 on the car. I contacted GM, because it certainly appears this is a huge defect, but because the dealer I took it to for the diagnostic states this is a maintenance issue, they will not help me now! The dealer has never been very good to me. I bought my car several hundred miles from my current residence & the local dealer is not very receptive to fixing things they didn't sell, although they are both GM dealers. I am frustrated with all of this & will not buy another GM product.
Also, the ignition hangs up, I've had this "reset" twice (there's a bulletin out on this...not a recall). The cover to the drivers side passenger mirror was replaced under warranty & is once again broken. The interior dome light stopped working, which required a computer reset. The lighting in the stereo area has faded significantly & is no longer red. |

I have the GTP coupe - it looks sporty, rides real smooth, great pick up. Love the 6-speed manual transmission and general layout of the whole car. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac G6?
Well, there is A LOT wrong with this car that I did not expect.
There was a recall on the sunroof. Had my car in the shop 3 times before the recall came out.
Water damage done to the seatbelt, which had to be replaced.
The plastic crap (handles) on the seats keep falling off.
At 53000 miles, AFTER the warranty expired, I got to replace 2 front tires (completely worn and separating), the left tie rod, all 4 brakes, rotors turned, and a right wheel bearing. WTF?!?! I'm guessing the other tie rod and hub bearing will go bad before too long. VERY DISAPPOINTING. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
This is my first brand new car, and I was SO excited to get it. Now, I am ULTIMATELY DISAPPOINTED. Won't buy another Pontiac again. My dad has a '99 Grand Am and CONSTANTLY had problems with the brakes & water pump. Quit using non-quality parts Pontiac!!! I swore I would never buy an import, however, no wonder they are so sought after! |

Many. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
Had steering replaced 2 times, thankfully my husband bought extended warranty.
Had rotors replaced 3 times.
Had computer replaced and synchronized 2 times.
Had windows reconfigured 2 times (they would automatically roll down when started and turned off).
Battery was replaced once.
Had breaks done 2 times.
They had to 'work on the engine' - it stopped running smoothly after 45000 kms (it ran like it had 200 000 km on it).
This car is only 3 years old. I would never buy another one ever again and not recommend it to any one unless you wanna be at the dealership every other week for repairs.. This car has had more done on repairs then I think we spent on it and we still owe on it (thinking of a trade in). |

Can't see well when in reverse. When you turn the lights on when it's raining, there is no illumination.
I have a six speed, can never get to go into gear as smoothly as I would like. Drove manuels all my life and never had this problem. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I have 57,000 miles on mine and love it as much as when I first got it as far as the drive, etc. No mechanical problems, just oil changes. Just replaced the brakes for the first time. If I had realized how hard it is to back up (the 2 door coupe GTP version) I probably would not have bought it though. My son has a 4 door G6 and I can see fine out of it. |

8k - Rack Pinion was replaced.
8k - All door windows were replaced due to scratching when rolled down.
15k - Front and rear rotors warped.
15K - Climate control lighting was replaced. It turned from red to hot pink.
20k - Rack Pinion was replaced yet again.
25k - Front and rear rotors warped again.
36K - Front and rear rotors warped again!
36K - Front and rear brakes replaced.
38K - Blower motor replaced.
38k - Front tires (car was wearing them funny. Never bothered to take a look at them, I turned the car in shortly after). |

The performance is great and it gets about 22 mpg in town on the highway about 30 mpg. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Pontiac G6?
I Had to put new brakes on this car twice once at 17000 and again at 37000 miles (poor quality from GM) dealer took care of it the first time. I paid for it the second time. The Heater Fan motor is making noise and needs to be replaced at 37789 miles again ( poor quality) from GM. My wife has had a Honda for three years and the only thing it has been in for was oil changes. 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
I am a GM fan but they are quickly changing my mind about them because of the quality issues with my G6. The brake clipper should not be warping 17000 and again at 37000 miles and the heater fan shouldn't have to be replaced at 37789 miles. |

We had it for 3 years and the first month we had to replace a tire because of a blow out, we replaced the rotors within the first year, the key entry quit working on both sets, replace the brakes the first year, the second year the air condition u nit froze up,and now the alinement is all screwed up and about shakes you right off the road when you brake, and also the power sterring light keeps coming on and loss power sterring while driving. It has a elertic pewer sterring which I'm sure is going to cost a mint to fix. The paint job scratches almost everytime you even touch it. it's awful. DON'T BUY ONE AND DON'T BUY IT FROM KEN GRAFF HE DOSEN'T STAND BEHIND THE CARS HE SELLS. |

I bought my 2006 car new with 8 miles on it. I have only had it into the shop for regular maintenance, and a couple of times for the visor recall. I do alot of driving, and I already have 64,000 miles on it, and I have just now replaced the brakes and tires. It runs like a charm and I have never had any problems with it. I would certainly buy another one because I LOVE IT and I would recommend this car to anyone! |

Get the factory to do recalls to repair this junk 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
Had the car one and three quarter years. I have had to replace the radio, steering column, two tie rod ends, two alignments, one steering bearing, heater module, tires, brakes plus it doesn't always start. Battery is ok and turns over but won't start until its tried 4 to 5 times. Dealer has warrantied some of the things but still it spends a lot of time in the shop. It's no wonder the u.s. automakers are going under with their poor quality. This is my third piece of crap g.m. I thought I'd give them another chance since they have been saying they are as good as honda and toyota. Wrong, just advertisements they are still a poor excuse of a car. |

POWER! Oh, and have someone at GM that trains the techs at the dealerships how to work on the 06's, considering they ARE selling them now! 2006 Pontiac G6 Review:
Well, the review would be much easier if I actually had a car that RAN. I bought a 2006 GTP Coupe on 4/3-06. I noticed that they had to jump start it in the parking lot which is where I jumped up and told them that they WOULD be putting a new battery in or they could keep it. After a shouting match on the sales floor with one of the sales managers trying to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about, they said they would 'test' the battery and see if it needed one. Well 30 minutes went by and this same person came back and said that he put a new battery in the car. (Which I found out after I got home that he NEVER put a new battery in the car.) Which by the way I paid CASH for the car as a gift for my daughter to go to college with. When we got home I checked the battery and it was low, I knew then we were in trouble. Tried the remote start and zip... nada... nothing. Over and over again it refused to work, even going through the manual and making sure to reset the system like it said. Next morning bright and early we headed back up there and they did indeed put a new battery in the car and worked on it ALL DAY Tuesday the 4th of April. Finally they said that we could have a loaner and when they got the car fixed they would deliver it to our house, about 40 miles away. I said no thanks, (trying to be a nice guy) and we headed home. Got a call early Wednesday from the Assistant to the owner saying that the main computer was fried (probably when they jumped it off) and that they were ordering one for it and it should be ready on Thursday. There was/is only ONE in the entire country! Well, here it is Thursday and I waited all day for a call so finally called the dealership about 3:30 to find out that they had just received the main module and the service manager himself was installing it, and then all the other computers (the car has something like 6 total computers) would have to be 'synchronized' with the main module. NOW.... the main brake module is kicking out faults saying the ABS is on the fritz. Last word was that the service manager was test driving it to see if the brakes actually worked or not, but that it looked like they would need yet another module (computer), to control the entire braking system. Still no word from the dealership owner or any sales managers, yet they FIRED the sales girl that sold me the car! I hope she files a suit and takes them to the cleaners. I'll surely be the first one there to testify on her behalf. Especially as the sales manager verbally attacked me right in the middle of the sales floor telling me that I was wasting their time and had no intention of buying a car. This is when I pulled out my checkbook and showed him where I just purchased an Infiniti G35 Coupe in February and paid cash for it as well. Then ended up paying $22,000 for this piece of crap Pontiac on a hope and a prayer that this is just a fluke. Because I can tell you, if my daughter had not been standing there, and wanting the car so bad, I'd told them to shove it then and there. Now, 5 days later and still no car, she's ready to tell them to shove it as well. As much as I hate to 'scale down' I'm thinking I may have to go back to the new Honda Civic that she was looking at earlier. Either that, or a used Infiniti G35 sedan, providing I can get my guy at the Infiniti dealership to give me a REALLY, and I mean a REALLY good deal on a used unit (with less than 20,000 miles). At least he owns the place, and doesn't attack his customers on the sales floor like the idiots at Pontiac! |
