First impression was the sporty look for a 4 door, lots of space. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Mercury Montego?
The car is not weather proof, rain, leaves, pine needles, sand or whatever gets to the windows goes into the door and comes out holes in the bottom of the door. Mercury says it is their design, I say it is a design flaw. Moisture on the inside of the door cannot be good for it, I was told the drain holes are big enough it should not get plugged up. It is a bet I would not have taken if I knew about it. 2006 Mercury Montego Review:
City gas milage with me driving like an old lady is great 21-22 MPG. Highway is at best 25-26 MPG I was told 31 MPG was at 55 MPH. I have been across country 2 times with the car. The speed limit is 65 and 70 most of the time. Also the steering wheel seems to far away, 3 drivers in the car and we all feel like we have to scrunch up to get close enough to the top of the steering wheel. I bought the premier with most options, steering wheel does not telescope, I did not notice this on the test drive. My bad... |

more horse power,better shifting ratio for my six speed trany,quiet the engine down a bit. love the car. The price was right at Toll-Brothers. Penn. |

Size, safety, the brakes, reasonable gas mileage, ride height and good highway cruiser. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Mercury Montego?
A little more engine power and lose the antenna. 2006 Mercury Montego Review:
Overall I really like the car. The engine power issue is not as great an issue as the critics would lead you to believe. Great family vehicle and comfortable whether driving around town or on a long trip. Only problem truly encountered is the a sometime transmission shift issue when floored. If the dealer can fix it I will be extremely happy with the car. |

Gas Mileage is averaging 26 m/g. Roominess of seating and trunk space is excellent. We have owned it for a year now, with no problems of any kind. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Mercury Montego?
Maybe a little more sound damping when driving on a rough road. The ride is excellent but road noise seems louder than it should for a car of this quality. 2006 Mercury Montego Review:
We also own a 2005 Montego, it is a great reliable car and led to our purchase of the 2006. This is the first time I have ever liked a car that well. I highly recommend this very reliable and comfortalbe car. As far as power goes, we live in a rural area and I have never had a problem passing a car or at any time felt the car was under powered. Our Honda's were under powered which is why we went back to american cars.

3.5L engine will provide better acceleration. The 3.0L V6 is adequate, but not ideal power. 2006 Mercury Montego Review:
