1. Looks (I love old Cherokee style)
2. Boston Acoustic sound system and Sirius radio. (I prefer it over XM)
3. Interior Layout
4. Smooth power of V8 4.7
(I tested a 5.7 Hemi and loved the power, but 4.7 was more than adequate for my needs.)
5. Quad track 4 II wheel drive . Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
An option to get rid of the 3rd row seats and have a deeper storage space in rear. 2006 Jeep Commander Review:
I have a 2007 Commander and I'm thrilled with it. I've driven off-road and the commander handled every hill and surface (red-clay, dirt) with sure footed ease. I love the old Cherokee body style. Lots of head room. I find the ground clearance level adequate. Driving this is a pleasure. This is the best riding and handling. AC system is best I've ever felt, and I live in the south where it is extremel hot 5 months a year.
I love the Boston Acoustic sound system. I'm a long-time Boston speaker fan. For me, Sirius satellite is the only way to go. I'm very happy with this Jeep. |

I have the 2007 Jeep Commander Overland. I think the interior is quite plush and upscale looking. the controls are well positioned and easy to use. the ride is smooth for an SUV. I will have to waite to see what kind of gas milage I will get with the new Hemi released for this year. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
add wood trim to the rear doors and include the basic intertainment system as standard and the duel headrest system as optional. I think a locking fuel door as found upscale vechicles is in order. |

I love the looks - it looks and feels beefy. Interior is great, seats are comfortable & extremely quiet inside. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
Access to back seat - you literally had to crawl in and out of the back area & once the back seats were being used, there was not room for additional items in the rear (luggage and other bags). 2006 Jeep Commander Review:

not much. we have had nothing but problems since we bought this thing. bad delay when trying to accelerate, engine almost dying often, tranny problem, windshield fixed-recall, so they say. and the engine problem still not fixed. car is only 5 months and about 6,000 miles on it. didn't want to start after sitting for only 3 days. this is ridiculous for a brand new vehicle. very disappointed. :( |

Windsheild is a magnet for rocks. 6 chips in windshield, and 1 crack in 1.5 years (replaced windsheild). In-town/city gas mileage very low (10-12 miles/gal). 2006 Jeep Commander Review:
Winsheild should be sloped more. A hybrid model would be great for in-town/city driving. |

More third seat leg room 2006 Jeep Commander Review:
17 to 19 mpg with 4 wheel drive and Hemi engine is good enough for me. And it always beats the punks at stop light drag races.
I'm 6'-2" and 250 Lb, yet the front seating is great with good controls and instruments. 2nd row seats are a little tight for me, third row seats are for little people and the pups.
Backing up visibilty is no problem since I always use my side mirriors for backing up any vehicle.

I love the wear the car looks and drives. I love all the extra's inside-navigation system, sunroof's, leather interior, CD changer, DVD system. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander?
Have a windshield that doesn't crack or chip with each grain of sand (or rocks). We have owned our Commander for 9 months, and have had 2 rock chips (repaired) and now have 4 separate cracks in the windshield that all originated below the windshield wiper. There seems to be some kind of design flaw with the windshield. I have talked to several others that have had to replace their windshield and have had repeated trouble with this. Are there any others out there with similar problems? Also, the blind spot when using the 3rd row seating is pretty bad. This doesn't seem to be a safe thing. 2006 Jeep Commander Review:
I love the car, but am not interested in having to replace the windshield every 6 months or so because the windshield is too flat and doesn't have enough slope. We have never owned a car that we have ever had windshield problems like we have with this one. Also, the blind spot in the back is pretty bad. When backing up with all 3 seats up, you are taking your chances on whether or not you back into something. |

I love all the room inside. It is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven. For its size it is easy to drive and goes through anything. The traction control works great. I live in WI so I drive in alot of snow and ice and trust me, the traction control and anti-lock brakes are a must have. I love it. When I wear my 2006 out I'll buy another. The Commander is the most comfortable easy to drive go any where vehicle I ever drove. When the roads are snow covered and slippery I tell my wife to "take the Jeep" when she has to drive to school that is 30 miles away. It is a safe vehicle. It is comfortable vehicle. |

i do not like the fact that this jeep (has a lifter knock and no one seems to care)that is the jeep dealerships.every person that works for jeep,can,t seem to hear the knock.plus the engine stalls to much.bodywise it is a nice jeep.other than that ,it,s engine,especialy the v-6 is badly enginered.it should not have a lifter flopen when it is new. |

Is anyone else having problems with the windshield. We have owned ours for 9 months and we have already had 2 rock chips and now there are 4 cracks that started at the bottom of the windshield that don't seem like they are from rocks. We love our Commander except for the problems we are having with the windshield. It seems that it is very vulnerable to rocks hitting the windshield and cracking. We have never had a problem like we are having with this car and it's windshield. We took it to the dealership, and they say it won't be covered under warranty, but it sure seems to be a design flaw. Cracks starting below the windshield wipers don't seem like they should be a common problem. |

I own a 2006 2wd drive Commander. Gas mileage on the road is about 17-18 (West Texas has 80mph limit). The ride is sedan like smooth and quiet. The stability and roll control comes in handy on sudden curves. The interior is very nice and looks richer than my older Grand Cherokee or my wife's Explorer. The mpg for the Commander is about 1-2 less than her 4.6L V6 2005 Explorer. I got a great deal. It listed for 31,200, but I paid $21,500 less a $1,000 owner loyalty coupon I got in the mail. Wow, what a buy. a three row, safe, comfortable SUV with a 6CD changer stereo for $20,500. |
