Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? Power, performance, superb traction on snow, ice, mud, rocks-you decide where to go, it gets you there & back in style & comfort. They've outdone themselves with the Commander's performance. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? 3rd row seats are good for kids or 1 adult, eventually I'll remove them & make room for more golf clubs. I'm a pilot, can we put some wings & a turbo prop on this? 2006 Jeep Commander Review: Rides like a luxury sedan on Pa. roads. Handles superbly and confidently with ample feedback to let you know when you're pushing the envelope. Does a fantastic job in the deep snow & icy roads, with the ELSD's & traction control you have to try real hard to spin the wheels. Couple that with the ESP and you have the most sure footed Jeep on the road today. The Commander isn't intimidated one bit when taken off road & will take you anywhere you equip it to go. The Hemi does a good job for the MPG it serves up, using 89 octane will get you a slight increase in performance & MPG while maintaining the same fuel cost per mile. The equation is simple enough, pony up for the increased cost of a good mid grade fuel, you'll go further on a tank, cost per mile remains the same. I've found BP, Hess & Sunoco give me the best results. A lot of thought went into the front driver & passenger compartment. The 8 way adjustable seat & sound insulated interior quell any fatigue normally encountered on long road trips. The seats are the most comfortable I've ever driven in. The instrument panel is designed in a way that all controls can be easily reached without taking your eyes off the road to look for any of them. I enjoy the many compliments I get from passengers along for the ride both on & off road. Performance, comfort & good old Jeep Guts, I am truly impressed by this machine. I own & operate an auto & light truck repair shop so we see a lot come through here, I've owned "Rovers" & they have nothing on a Jeep Commander (5.7 equipped) except higher operating costs & less reliability. I hear rumors that 09 will be the last year for Commanders, that would be a huge mistake in my opinion. Some better marketing is defiantly needed. With the Hemi package this is the ultimate SUV. It's a Jeep thing, move over Rover.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? I HAVE A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 24,000. MILES. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2009, I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE POWER WINDOW CONTROLS, TRANSMISSION SEAL, HAD THE ESP REPROGRAMMED AND I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON CHANGING MY FUEL SENSING UNIT SINCE MY GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. PEOPLE WONDER WHY AMERICANS BUY JAPANESE AND JEEP IS WHY!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? The ride is very smooth and quiet. Interior is quite comfortable and looks great. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Throttle is sluggish. Transmission is terrible (replaced at 36k and still isn't quite right). V6 is rated for 17/21 mpg and gets 14.4 mpg average (if I go 50 mph on a flat surface I can just reach 18 mpg). Traction control still kicks in when it's turned off (very annoying losing power when trying to get on the interstate, not to mention dangerous). Passenger leg room is lacking. AWD is not as good as 4WD. Visibility isn't great. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: I traded in my 2005 F150 for this thinking that I would get an increase in gas mileage with a smaller vehicle that has a smaller engine. 1/2 mpg increase was not what I had in mind! I really liked the look of the Commander.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? The way it looks. Drives well. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? The STALLING issue.... it's ridiculous... I've spend countless money on having it checked out and services... for this very reason.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? I love the look. Sharp sporty and very comfortable. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Need more knee room, dash is too low. But most of all stop the leaking from the darn sunroof that has soaked my carpet ran down the front and back windshield on the inside. There is a major, major problem going on here. Chrysler needs to take responsibility here.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? It's an awesome looking vehicle. I always wished I would have one and now I do. It's really good in snow. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? I hate the interior. Even if you spill water it stains and it won't come out. Sometimes when I'm driving it feels like it is going to stall. Knock on wood hasn't happened yet. I also did notice when it rains and I open the driver's side door water spills out. I thought the seal on the door was bad, but obviously I'm not the only one that happens to. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: I do like it. When I'm ready for a new vehicle, will I buy another one. I don't know yet. I've only had it a year so we will see.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? The looks. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? I've had nothing but problems out of my cluster - all my dash lights coming off and on, gages dropping to zero then bouncing off and on. If anyone had this problem send a response. Can't figure it out. Something electrical. Please help, email me.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? I love the looks of my Jeep. It is very comfortable and my kids love the fact they can each have their own row of seats to sit in. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Water drips out of the grab handles by the front doors and the seats are hard to clean.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? The ruggedness and feel of a Jeep. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Take out the 3rd row. This was squeezed in & I don't see any need for it. The Jeep is just not big enough. It pushes the second row up close to the driver/passenger seats, leaving very little leg room. When the 3rd row is up you virtually have no trunk space, so it's not like you could really travel anywhere w/ 7 or 8 people because there wouldn't be any room for luggage, etc. I have been in compact SUV's that feel larger because of this. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: First I have to say I have always been a Jeep lover...this is my ninth one & I'm only 30. I have owned several Wranglers, a Wagoneer, a Cherokee and a Liberty. When the Commander came out I had to have it. I bought my '06 model used. It had 8k miles. At 37k miles (just outside the warranty coverage) a transmission seal went out. Jeep did go ahead and cover it for me. The power window went out (I fixed at my expense). At 48k miles & 2-1/2 yrs old, the entire a/c system went out (Again fixed at my expense. Cost over $1,000). Now, w/ 54k miles the water pump went out, the engine overheated and left my baby & I stranded on the side of the road. I had to have the vehicle towed & was just told, 3 days before Xmas, it is going to cost $680 to fix it. I am very, very disappointed in this vehicle.

| Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? The space for all passengers. The great sound system. All the features are great for a basic model. Everything functions as it should. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? The blind spots. The fuel consumption. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: I have 4.7 v8. I have 154000 km on it now and it rides and handles just like new. I live in Canada where the snow is deep and the roads are always icy. And this Jeep has no issues with any of it. I never had stalling problems nor any leaks. All I can say is sorry you guys had issues.
The vehicle is great for my family. All the seats in the back are down and provides my dog tonnes of room and I have no issues with the commander at all.
I have a couple of trailer one for my boat and the other for my Harley and it tows like a dream - never feels like there is a drag or anything.
My wife and I love it .... she uses it exclusively as a winter vehicle and drive a Beetle in the summer and I love my Supercrew F150 ....... I prefer this vehicle for long trips and to get adventurous on the trails..... |

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? It's a Jeep! Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Transmission issues. Stalls every time I back out of the garage and put into gear. Now with 46K miles it's in the shop for a major transmission issue. I previously owned a Wrangler which I loved. After the transmission problems with this car I don't think I will ever buy another Jeep.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? It looks good, drive nice, windshield too soft, easily gets chipped. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Terrible blind spots. Bought it with 13 miles on it, now have 16,000 miles on it, still get only 12.6 mpg on highway, 4.6 v8 engine. Don't like the weird cd system. Sometimes door locks won't lock unless you use the remote.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? I love the wear the car looks and drives. I love all the extra's inside-navigation system, sunroof's, leather interior, CD changer, DVD system. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Have a windshield that doesn't crack or chip with each grain of sand (or rocks). We have owned our Commander for 9 months, and have had 2 rock chips (repaired) and now have 4 separate cracks in the windshield that all originated below the windshield wiper. There seems to be some kind of design flaw with the windshield. I have talked to several others that have had to replace their windshield and have had repeated trouble with this. Are there any others out there with similar problems? Also, the blind spot when using the 3rd row seating is pretty bad. This doesn't seem to be a safe thing. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: I love the car, but am not interested in having to replace the windshield every 6 months or so because the windshield is too flat and doesn't have enough slope. We have never owned a car that we have ever had windshield problems like we have with this one. Also, the blind spot in the back is pretty bad. When backing up with all 3 seats up, you are taking your chances on whether or not you back into something.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? Not happy with my Jeep at all because of the stalling issue. Wish that I had done my homework before purchasing this death trap because I would not have purchased it if I knew what I now know about it! Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Make it where I can drive it safely on the roads.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? I like the style and the interior although blind spot when the third row seats are up. I really like everything about the Jeep Commander but I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that after only owning my Jeep for three days I have been experience stalling which is very scary. In fact it is presently at the dealers because it has stalled about five times and no one seems to know how to fix this dangerous problem. I will never buy another Jeep of any kind ever aain! Will probably have to give this one back because it is just not safe to put on the roads. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? if it would just run without stalling!

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Jeep Commander? Nice ride, low wind noise, looks good. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Jeep Commander? Better gas mileage, more room in 3rd row seating and cargo space, fix stalling issue, huge blind spot and difficult to see behind 3rd row seats. 2006 Jeep Commander Review: This is nice if you only occasionally use the 3rd of seats.I have to keep mine folded down so I have room for groceries and so I can see out the back.Chrysler needs to admit there is a problem with the engine stalling and issue a recall (so far only a recall on the 2008 for the same problem).
