2006 Honda Ridgeline

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
Spacious interior.
Material quality.
Strong brakes.
Ride.
Handling.
Quiet engine (but some road noise).
Underbed storage, two way gate are good but not absolutlely needed. The gate hardware is unexpectedly well built but a manuel or power lock should be standard.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
Tighter turning circle.
Locking axle that does not limit to 19mph.
Why not a front center seat that has underseat storage, there is no transmission hump anyway.
A larger engine that minimize gear hunting going up the Sierra. A diesel engine is a good alternative for better torque and fuel mileage.
Rear camera should be standard.

2006 Honda Ridgeline Review:
For extreme off-road, hauling and towing, looks else-where. Otherwise the Ridgeline excels in most area as stated above. Standard features like stability control, front and rear head air-bags, sudden brake assist, dual auto climate control are desirable but not always available in other trucks. I drove over 9300 miles for a little over two months, mostly drove up the Sierra, the combination of comfort, handling are excellent, but wishing more torque and power in climbing steep hills at highway speeds. I still have mixed feeling about the exterior styling, it looks advanced and somewhat good looking, but the designers seems unable to refine it enough to be more eye pleasing. Prehaps with a little help from Bertone or other prominent consulting designers, it can possibly be good looking and macho at the same time, that I think the Ridgeline is missing at the moment.
Gas mileage - if speed is kept under 80 on level, and 65-70 going up Sierra, and kept at top gear most of the time, I got consistently 21 mpg. If I am hurry and push the truck I got 18-19 mpg.
(My '01 CRV was only 2-3 mpg better. CRV got good mileage only if its kept under 60 or 65mph, any faster the tiny engine is stressing.)

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
Comfort, low entry height and somewhat low bed height.
I like the styling and performance in our rough, Northern Michigan winters.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
More horsepower, less road noise and a power passenger seat.
The entire tow package should be a factory designed and installed system. I've had many problems with the after-market trailer plug system.

2006 Honda Ridgeline Review:
Our Ridgeline is now 5 years old and aside from the above mentioned trailer hook-up and the steering wheel radio controls we have had no problems in 39,000 miles of short-hop driving.

I did purchase a complete 2nd set of wheels and Blizzack snow tires to handle our winter driving.

It has been a great only vehicle for a retired couple and we hope to drive it for another 5 years.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
For what we use it for....home depot runs, hauling trees, bricks, mulch, tools, etc, etc.. It is a perfect balance of work & fun truck.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Honda Ridgeline?
Add a more powerful V-6 or small V-8.

2006 Honda Ridgeline Review:
Great comfort and tons of storage and thoughtful features. The in bed trunk is perfect for Costco and has become a very useful -used -feature.
We have had more snow this season than any other year in history and the Ridgeline has had no issues...ever....

Absolutely terrible off road. No ground clearance. I have never owned a truck before that made me so nervous off of the pavement.

Honda needs to build a real truck. One that can be taken on or off road with confidence. The Ridgeline is an SUV with a bed, not a truck. Sorry, Honda engineers, you missed the mark with this one (the ground clearance is totally unacceptable, period).

This is a great truck and has performed well. I tow trailers and have no problem over long distances.

I have had a problem with the AC compressor. Leaky hose burned up the compressor. I was 200 miles out of warranty and am experiencing a $2500. bill from Honda for a fix. I do not use Honda for general maintenance and I guess it's pay back time. Vehicle is great but parts and service will break you if you live in Mechanicsburg Pa.

After owning one for over a year, I have to say I like nothing about the truck. It has been a sorry disappointment since the day I drove it home, and has depreciated almost 50 %.

There are too many thing too list, I would just like it if all the "bells and whistles" and "gimmicky" stuff actually worked the way you expected it to. The absolute worst mis-match of buttons and knobs scattered out through out the control panel. I have been an Electrical Controls Engineer for 30 years, and from a controls point of view, this is ergonomically, efficiently, and user friendly, a disaster, a poor rookie/ intern engineers attempt at a controls scheme. It has the look and feel of something you would expect from GM, and funny I should sat that since that is exactly where it came from. Oh, I guess I shouldn't have said that, people are not supposed to know that the Ridgeline is a GM concept reject that Honda picked up.

MY wife and I have been Honda owners for over 30 years, each of us owning multiple Honda's at a time and trading every three to four years, so we have owned a lot. This is the first Honda I would not buy a second one of and certainly not recommend it to a friend. The only thing sorrier then this piece of ____ truck is the fact that I own it.

the tonnue cover is cumbersome and i hate how it locks or doesn't. it's too heavy and is not water proff

2006 Honda Ridgeline Review:
The ride and seating has been supportive and firm,. enjoy the steering and braking. Traveled between Bakersfield Ca. and Paso Robles Ca with 4 adults( 120 miles each way, thru Hwy 58, We averaged 19 mpg@ approx 62mph average. We were confronted with high winds which made little to no difference in handling, The only complaint I have is interior squeaks when road is typical non maintained Ca.roads.
