2006 Ford Ranger

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Ranger?
I like that Ford stayed with the Compact truck size. The 4.0 litre sounds nice and is very smooth. You can't tell it's running. This is my 3rd Ranger and that says a lot. This Ranger is the 4.0 with power everything, Air, and a 5 speed. (Automatics are for Girly boys)

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Ranger?
I find the 4.0 litre is very lazy, under powered, even with the 410 gears. It revs to high on the highway for such a big motor. Aprox 2500-2600 rpm at 70 mph. A Buddy's Canyon runs along at 1900 - 2000 at 70mph

The standard AM FM CD - it is almost impossible to read the display.

I think Ford has the stroke to short and torque is lacking...

2006 Ford Ranger Review:
My first Ranger was a 1990 4x4 2.3. My second was 1997 3.0 4x4.

I have to say they all treated me well. But this 06 is the best yet. I really like driving this truck. It feels big for a small truck and gives the impression of quality. My wife has a 06 Grand Vitara leather loaded V6. They say cars from Japan are better than American made. I can say maybe in the past but not any more. The Ranger is hands down better built.

Ford - the 4.0 litre is nice and sooth, it has a nice v6 sound. But it seems soft in the power department for a 4.0 with high revving 410 gearing.

It needs more power and taller gears with out killing the mileage.....

Great for highway and offroad.

Plastic tailgate handle (broke already).
Ripped rear door apart to find a noise problem. A hard piece of plastic was glued to the interior of the door but came loose. I thought it was the speaker but it was solid. Not sure what function this piece served.

2006 Ford Ranger Review:
I had difficulty selling my 1996 Harley Davidson...so I exchanged it at a used car dealer for a very clean 2006 Ranger Fx4. Overall; I find it (a lot) better than I expected, (considering the negative stuff I have read.)
I like the size; the small hind doors and jump seats are all perfect for me. I think the full size four doors pickups look like it wants to be a truck and a limousine at the same time.

Looks very sharp.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Ranger?
Change the 4.10 ratio rear end.
Increase the cab space.
Redesign the doors so they fit better.

As always Ford is the best And I would not own anything else. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY COULDN'T DO BETTER.

All use manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. V6s also offer 4WD that should not be left engaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. Styling changes for '06 Rangers grip modest revisions to bumpers, grille, fenders, and lights. Ford Ranger gets great gas mileage.
Nice looks and was priced right.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Ranger?
I am 6ft tall hard to see my gauges when sitting, speed and tach cut off by steering wheel.
40k on odometer starting to get rattles from pass airbag cover and a bad rattle from driver's side door.
Could also use a cargo light.
Had an Isuzu hombre prev. If Ford Ranger lasts as long as that did, I will be very happy. That truck was and still is going.
Ride is not that smooth either on the ranger.

Time will tell if I will buy another. Think they need to offer a longer warranty, 4 year 100k like other companies.

A moron designed this truck (extended cab- no back doors):
Seats don't fold far enough forward for anything to go into.
Back seats don't scoot forward far enough either making the back area virtually useless.
The bed has no bed light (discontinued in 2003???).
The standard cab would be just as useful as the extended cab- if you want extended cab, get the one with half doors on the back, not the standard (no 4 cyl available).

Go back to the drawing board and have some former truck owners help with the design next time!

Good gas mileage and worked well for winter driving. Quiet drive and confortable seating.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Ranger?
Having problems with door seals. Leaking inside of door frames. Was back to service and replaced door caskets but still having problems. Told that is how the doors work...Hard to believe in my opinon.
