Pros: What do you like about 2006 Ford Focus?
ZXW Focus great car. Reliable as all hell 160,000 miles and still clicking. Purrs like a kitten. Great gas mileage even when loaded down, usually 29.5 with a full "trunk" and 4 passengers.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Ford Focus?
The brakes are retarded annoying, ford should have fixed that and the camber/caster of wheels. Tire wear is pretty bad even with regular rotations. Many people who own focuses have these issues:broken engine mounts leading to serious cabin vibration. PCV hose cracking causing rough engine run. Idle air control leading to poor engine running. Brake squeaks, and tire wear.

Great car for cost, will really last you if you baby it with regular maintenance. Still has its cons, that is life. It's more of a budget vehicle.

I HAVE FOUR CARS: RAV4 SPORT 4L 2010, ODYSSEY 2008 LX., LEXUS LS 400 1991 AND MY LOVE FOCUS ZXW SE 2010; THIS FOCUS IS MY EVERY DAY CAR BECAUSE IS ROOMY, GAS SAVER, EASY TO PARK NOT SO WIDE, FAST AND CHEAP MAINTENANCE.

I GET THIS FOCUS WITH 167000 MILES IN OCTOBER 2010 AND KNOW IN AUGUST 2011 IS 177500 MILES AND STEEL LIKE A CLOCK. ONLY PAY FOR NEW TIRES AND FLUIDS.

The brakes started squealing at about 20,000 miles and the car now has about 66,000 miles on it. The dealer says there is nothing they can do. Very upsetting.
Both rear door locks went out the same week when car had about 65,000 miles on it.

Biggest complaint is the brakes. Lord, I hate to hear those things squeal and grind every day. If it were not for that I would give the car a 5 rating.

I had a zx5 ses, with no problems. Just bought a zx3 ses with 6,400 original miles as a 2nd car and like it a lot.

For me, it is a good car and it is roomy for such a small car.
Trunk space is decent.
I have never had any problems really.

Tires do not last.
Cup holders need to be farther away from dash.

I have owned my car for 4+ years now and, (knock on wood), nothing has gone wrong with it. The only thing I would like is the breaks to last longer as well as the tires. More room for the cup holders and the cd storage, while practical, to be more spacious and in a better location.

Noise level, squeaky brakes and bearings wearing out @ 70,000 miles.

2006 Ford Focus Review:
Almost lost the the passenger side rear wheel on the highway due to the bearings. The car started swerving all over the lane, as I held on to the steering wheel for dear life. Had to have it towed to the dealership and when questioned about the bearings, the mechanic said they are sealed making it impossible to inspect them, but they usually make a noise before they wear out! With the road noise how can you hear it?

BRAKES SCREAM ALL THE TIME.
ALL 4 TIRES WORN OUT LESS THAN 20,000 MILES EVEN WITH PROPER ROTATION.
LEATHER SEATS STAIN TERRIBLE EASY FROM EVERYTHING.
MY CAR ONLY HAS 26,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT TODAY. I HAVE BABIED IT TAKEN EXTRA CARE OF IT AND IT HAS DISAPPOINTED ME BECAUSE OF TIRES AND BRAKES.

Brakes squeak loud all the time. Change whatever makes tires wear out every 17000 miles!

Cup holder is so close to dash above it you can not get cup in and out with out straw hitting dash and to far away.

CD holder to far away.

More room between seats but then car would have to be wider!
Key got stuck in ignition, sales manager said he never heard of that and everyone in service had gone home so I had to leave key in car. Doing a search I have found many people have had this problem! People have paid up to $800 to get fixed. I parked on a hill one day and it came out after a few weeks of being stuck in there.

2006 Ford Focus Review:
Dealers do NOT honor warranty! Tires wore out dealer said tough. Stereo ate CD, replacement one works some times. Seat covers stain horribly even with me paying for Simonex. Trunk leaks. Noisy very noisy! Brake roters wear unevenly so they can not be turned, have to get new ones.

I have owned this vehicle for 3+ yrs and in this time the power steering unit, alternator, gear shift assembly, engine was half rebuilt and vent selector have all gone bad.

2006 Ford Focus Review:
Ford warranty did cover these problems, except vent selector, but overall very disappointing. Rear brakes also an issue. Will never buy a "Found on Road Dead" vehicle again.
