Pros: What do you like about 2006 Dodge Dakota?
Rides amazing, very smooth, very strong, tows amazing.
No rust. You have to treat the truck good. Anybody can beat a truck and turn it in to a piece of crap. Just treat it good.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Dakota?
The back seat is a little stiff, but good.

Had to change the intermediate steering shaft and steering pump within a few months of purchasing truck.
Seems to ride rough.
Volume on stereo turns down on it's own.
Car alarm goes off sometimes after starting the car and then shutting driver door.
Console made from cheap plastic.
Gas mileage is horrible.
Dodge dealership is horrible to deal with.

Looks.
Handling.
Bed size.
Stereo.

Figure out why tie rods are shot after 30000 mi and why gas mileage is worse than a v8.

Had problems with shocks. My censor for depressing my clutch to start is messing up. Tie rod ends are weak. Computer problems - cruise control works sometimes and when it is working it usually cuts out. Sway bar links are too weak.

Dodge dealerships are useless that my biggest problem with the truck I have to figure it all out myself, because they always say that's the way the truck is. hmm NO IT'S NOT.. I had it when it was new.

Overall quality: roof joints leak water into channels and ultimately driver and passenger floor mats soaked.

Gas mileage.

Poor quality... had trouble with: ball joints, cruise control, brake master cylinder--(fluid bypassing piston?), power steering--noisy and leaks.

Should never have to put up with water leaks into cab flooring. 5-star dealer no help...doesn't have a clue.

This is my second Dodge Dakota, both have had a V8, 4x4 and quad cabs. I like the comfort, style and both towed great. However, this will be my last one.

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Dakota?
I have intermittent power steering, dealer replace steering box, but was not the problem. Now I rarely have P/S and worst when it gets cold. I am very disappointed in dealer, I have had three other people drive the truck and everyone of them stated that there is a problem. I should not have this problem with a 2006 with 41,000.00 miles. ALSO, DO NOT BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY NAMED EASY CARE.

Although overall I like my truck, it is very frustrating to me concerning the P/S. To me it is probably dangerous to drive considering the steering does not return when turning corners, one moment you can drive at ease with one hand but not knowing when your going to need two.

Good interior space for 4 adults.
Nice styling.
6 disc CD is a plus.

Rides rough.
Tougher rotors, had problems with the tie rod.

I like the look, 4wd, not too big but not too small.

Better gas mileage, better performance parts.
Also figure what is problem with the transmission problem (shifts hard).
Also why the ball joints on mine went out on the truck with 18,211 miles on it. I never beat the truck, drive it to work and that is it.

Acceleration, rides smooth as glass, very comfortable seats, great driver's view;
super towing power on V8;
very comfortable for 4 adults in crew cab (or 5 for short trips);
good bed capacity;
very quiet;
excellent acceleration even when towing!

Cons: How would you improve 2006 Dodge Dakota?
The cup holders are only good for cans;
the console latch gets stuck often (hard to open).

2006 Dodge Dakota Review:
I've owned F150 (5.4L) and Tundra(V6), the Dakota has better towing and people space than the Tundra, and great gas mileage compared to the F150. I recommend the V8 version with the towing package highly. I tow a 5000lb 'light' trailer and if I didn't see it in the rear view mirror, I'd never know I was towing, it's that smooth. My only regret is that I didn't pay the extra to get the 4WD!
