Top 5 Pros of 2006 Chevrolet HHR
Top 5 Cons of 2006 Chevrolet HHR

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Great, retro exterior styling.
Excellent fuel economy, cargo space and configurable interior.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Stiffer suspension, especially a rear sway bar.
6 speed auto trans.
Richer looking interior.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I replaced a totally worn out Astro van with a 2006 HHR 2LT model. While it doesn't have the ultimate hauling ability of the Astro, it is MUCH nicer to drive, and burns 1/2 as much fuel. The exterior styling is a real hit- classic looks in a modern wagon.
The handling is clearly a compromise, I immediately added a rear sway bar that stiffened the roll resistance and helped curb the understeer of the stock car-something Chevy should have done from the factory. I don't expect it to be a sports car, but Chevy should have put a quicker steering box in it as well. With that said, the overall drive is pleasant enough. Power is quite adequate, especially considering the fuel economy- 23-25mpg around town, and 30 on the highway.
The interior is a compromise to cost, with fairly cheap materials. I put a carbon fiber dash kit in mine, which dressed it up greatly. The seats are very comfortable and reasonably roomy, and the visibility is ok, except for looking up at traffic lights. That's when you know what those prisms on 1940s cars were for. The short windshield is part of the styling, so live with it.
Overall, it's a great looking, economical, versatile, daily driver, and a very good value. They are wildly popular in my area, for good reason.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
I love the cargo space with the flexibility of the fold down seats.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
There is something inherently wrong with the brake system. When you travel down mountain grades, even slight ones, the whole front of the car shakes terribly...they don't seem to be able to fix this problem...it is scary!
The 1st day we had it the key was stuck in the on position because of the shift lever fault they did fix it. Just a cheaply made vehicle overall.
Hate the position of the window controls.
They really crammed things into a really small car. Didn't realize how small til we had it a while and tried to function with it.
The protruding rear wheel wells catch all the rocks, bugs, sludge etc on the road and are very difficult to clean.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
Good thing they are taking these off the market. Too many design flaws overall. The worst thing I would say is the inherent brake problem which Chevy has not stood behind!

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Styling is awesome.
Good fuel consumption.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Shoulder checking is a problem (blind spot).
Silly place for electric window controls and cup holders.
Parts are expensive, e.g. we broke a door handle (just the handle), and it cost $530 to fix as they have to replace the whole inside door panel.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
Love to drive it, but with repairs being so expensive on this vehicle, we probably won't buy a Chevy car again. Would buy a Chevy truck though.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
What I like is that it gives the space as a small SUV, drives smooth and good on gas. I have had this car for 3 days.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Well, reading some of the other peoples quotes, I do have to say the horse power isn't that great...takes a few seconds for it to pick up speed.
Cup holders are in a very bad place and I'm not a fan of the power window buttons located in the middle. I guess I will have to compare some of these things in a bit.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
It's a fun car to drive so far and I traded it in for my 2002 Cougar and so far so good.

Use better fabric on seats.
More horse power needed.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I just bought a used 2006 HHR. I love to drive this car.
I'm 6.2 and the only problem I have is seeing traffic lights at stops but I can live with that for the feel you get from driving it.
I find the car needs more power for off the start or passing. But for the times when driving on the highway, I tend to find that you can lose track of you speed, was at 150kms and running smooooth (oops ).
This car loves open road.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Nothing at all!
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Stop making them!
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I have had my 2006 HHR for 2 yrs. Now I hate it. It was so cheaply made it is not funny. I have to get my brakes changed all the time. There is a lot of spots that you cannot see out of. It sways as you drive it up the road. And when I first bought it I complained to the Chevy company about my seats staining very easily and they told me to take it back to the dealer and have them clean them. Well when I got there all they did was give me a can of cleaning stuff I could have bought at Walmart. What a joke! I will never buy a Chevy again and I tell everyone I run into about the junk they sell. So I had to go and spend another $400. on seat covers so my HHR does not look like a garbage dump.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Fuel Economy.
Highway Cruising Ability.
Exterior Looks.
Cargo Room.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Better Trim.
Better Visibility.
Overall Better Attention to Detail & Materials.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I purchased my 2006 HHR Used in 2009 with 60,000 KM on it and have driven it daily (Presently at 81,000 KM). My greatest issue with the car is that if you are over 5'6" tall (I Am), you have a great deal of difficulty with blind spots and seeing out of the windshield, but I can't really fault the car for that (I haven't grown, and should have taken it into account before buying). It is a MUCH better vehicle than the P/T Cruiser though. A LOT of trim defects (Nothing that affects the way the car performs, just annoyances), but I chalk that up to the Hecho en Mexico factor (Mine was likely built just before siesta break). Overall, so long as you are short enough to see properly when driving it, the HHR is an inexpensive, fuel efficient, and, in my experience a generally reliable vehicle.

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
I like nothing about my car.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Breaks go out to quickly, shaking on the front end when braking, seats stain way to easily, cup holders are in a awful place, fills like you are sitting on top of each other, not enough room for 4 people, you are lucky with just 2.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I will never buy another HHR, I am looking to trade it in!!!

Guide: 5=Perfect; 3=Good; 1=PoorPros: What do you like about 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
Mileage.
Looks.
Cargo Space.
MP3 discs play in the stereo.
Oil Change Frequency.
Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A) Shifter Assy Failure 59,000 miles. Better design.
B) A/C compressor failed at 59,000 (A&B occurred within 24 hrs of each other). Better Quality.
C) Move window control to the standard location.
D) Leather steering wheel cover is cheap & wears away far too soon.
E) No USB connection in stereo for flash drive music.
2006 Chevrolet HHR Review:
I had been promoting HHR to everyone who asked me about it, that is until I got to 59,000 miles. On Sunday I couldn't get the key out of the ignition due to the failure of the release button in the shifter.
Researched the net, found many instances of this occurring. Chevy needs to do a recall. The shifter can be moved into any gear or park at any time, even with the key out of the ignition which is a severe safety violation. If a child got behind the car and another moved the shifter it could easily roll backward. Of course nothing will happen until a few people get injured or killed.
The next day the A/C pump/clutch failed (a few blocks from home). Smoke pouring out from under the hood. Pulled over, raised hood and searched for cause. While looking the serpentine belt split and popped off right before my eyes. Nice! This shouldn't be occurring on any vehicle before at least 100,000 miles.
Time to trade it off. Reliability sinking and it seems now a risk to drive it any long distance from home.
