Start over and rebuild the whole front end of this car. 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Review:
I'd had my 2006 Cobalt for less than two years and the first time I had to break hard to keep from hitting someone that turned in front of me, my car went to crap after that day! Every time I would turn, I heard this popping noise. So I took it to the dealership. They had to replace the steering column, steer rack and pinion, AND steering rod! They actually told me that they have never seen or had to replace a steer rack and pinion in one of these cars ever. That made me feel real great about my car. My opinion, don't buy one. |

Burn it to the ground. 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Review:
First no protection on the oil pan - hit item on a blind turn and the oil dumped and locked up the engine, new engine put in 2008.
Second, hub caps rattle.
Third, shocks have been replaced 2 times, sway bars replaced 2 times, exhaust rattles, very noisy car going down the road, heater in it just sucks, air sucks.
There isn't anything I have good to say about Chevy, but what does it matter. Chevy won't do anything about the problems. Went out and bought a Honda -2006 Chevy Cobalt for SALE CHEAP less then 45000 miles on it. |

Too noisy - feels like my windows are down.
Sits low.
Tires are not good.
Shakes sometimes when braking. The company needs to recall to check front end brake system.

Not too much... The stereo is pretty good for factory. Cons: How would you improve 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?
I would LOVE for GM to fix the fuel injectors that were RECALLED, but because the cracks that cause gas to leak 'aren't a safety issue' GM doesn't even have the recall in the database at ANY of their dealerships, so if you want it fixed, and you don't want to huff gas as you drive, you have to come up with the repair money yourself...
Tires completely crapped out at around 50,000 or so miles, and now with the gas leaking in every corner of my car, it's starting to sound like a helicopter is hovering right above me as I drive, and the little girls I look after are forced to huff the gas right along with me... awesome! Thanks GM! no wonder you went bankrupt... 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Review:
Don't buy it... or if you do, be prepared to constantly be at the garage for repairs... |

Interior is not roomy. 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Review:
Continental brand tires had to be replaced in less than 15,000 miles. Key stuck in ignition, had to get repaired. Key got stuck in the doors, had to be replaced. Every time you turn the key the needle moves on the gas tank, not even getting 20 miles in town. Hubcaps rattle and clap on slightest bumps. And best of all, I had a warped rotor at 6,000 miles, and garage shaved the rotor down and that did not fix the problem. I took it back two more times to complain about the noise before the 12,000 mile warranty went, and now at 22,000 miles I have to replace the rotor myself. I'm afraid to take it on long trips as well. I took it on two trips and the wheel shimmied so bad and the front end was making a grinding noise. I won't buy another, I hope to trade it in on a Honda or Toyota. I agree, Chevrolet should not make junk and get a bailout. Do they actually take pride on these vehicles. And I know other Cobalt owners 2005 that complained of these key/door/ignition problems, and Chevrolet never warned of those problems, rather they play the luck of the draw instead of taking pride in their vehicles. |

I however only have 37,000 miles on my Cobalt and immediately after the warranty on the car was up I started having problems. I now have warped rotors and the car shakes when you apply the brakes. Also my engine light came on and I have been told the car needs an O2 sensor and my air-conditioning works one day and does not the next. This is the first American made car I have had in about 15 years and I will never buy another. For the amount of mileage on the car I should not be having problems already. I am going to fix what is wrong and I am trading the car for a foreign model. Now I know why GM went bankrupt. They make junk and to the people who designed and made this car. You deserve to lose your jobs if this is the best you can do. |

THIS CAR SUCKS! !! THE INTERIOR COATINGS ON HANDLES ARE PEELING. IT IS A THICK COATING SO YOU HAVE TO USE CARE AS TO NOT CUT YOUR HAND.
THE COVERS ON THE ARM REST AND DASH SCRATCH UP EASILY.
IF YOU ACCELERATE TO QUICKLY YOU GET A T/C ALARM THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIX.
STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES. A MONTH LATER THE SWAY BAR LINKS HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
THE TRUNK HAS A LEAK IN IT.
THE PAINT JOB WAS CRAP.
THE CAR DOES NOT GET THE 32 MILES PER GALLON IT CLAIMS BUT TOWARD THE END OF SUMMER IT WILL GET 28-29 MILES THEN WILL SLOW DOWN TO 23-24 AS COLD WEATHER COMES IN.
HAD TO REPLACE NORMAL WEAR BRAKES/TIRES (EXPENSIVE) AND ROTORS AT 50,000. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THESE WEARABLE PARTS SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER BUT I WAS TOLD THAT WHEN I SIGNED FOR PURCHASE - TWO YEARS LATER I OWE ON CAR AND HAVE TO PAY FOR A LOT OF REPAIRS ON TOP OF IT!!
THIS IS A CRAP CAR - IT WAS MADE CHEAP AND THE SERVICE OF THE DEALERSHIP SUCKS!! I CAN SEE WHY GM IS HAVING PROBLEMS. I THINK I WILL GO TOYOTA NEXT TIME!! I JUST DROVE A 2009 TOYOTA -OH MY GOD THAT CAR WAS SOOOOOOOO SMOOTH AND YOU COULD FEEL THE QUALITY. IRONICALLY THAT WAS THE CAR GIVEN TO ME TO DRIVE WHILE MY 2006 CHEVY COBALT WAS AT THE GM DEALERSHIP GETTING REPAIRED SO EVEN THE GM DEALERSHIP KNOWS ABOUT TOYOTA. |

From day one this car has been a headache. Day one, we didnt' test drive, as we knew what our kid wanted, so it's what she got. Dealer drove it up to the front door and had the driver's side door open for me, got in drove off, stopped to eat, and my husband wanted me to lock the doors, I tried to get back in the drivers side, and of course the door wouldn't open. Had to take it to a dealer to have it repaired, CHEVY HAD NOT INSTALLED THE LOCKING ROD, called the dealer back to let him know, why should he worry, his business was done, got nothing from the salesman. Second, we have to recalls on the thing, thirdly, the GEARSHIFT went out, Fourth and Fifth, every time you have your bright lights on and give your right turn signal you loose all lights. Piece of Crap car!!!!! |
