I'm on my second Lacrosse and I love it, but the car's tranny has been unreliable in both of my cars.
The wheel bearings constantly need to be replaced and there are problems with the radiator that needs to be serviced every other week because the heat stops working.
The car could use an RDS as well and a 6spd tranny. Once a Nissan Murano outperformed this car on the expressway--that was a double black-eye on GM's face and mine.
Heat in the back seat for the kids would be good, too.
Perhaps better fuel economy could help the wallet for a 3.6 sedan (because of wheel bearings that keep going out).
My door recently stopped closing shut (WTF, right).

2006 Buick LaCrosse Review:
I love the car but GM needs to go back to the drawing board and come up with something that can actually compete with a German/Japanese/Korean sedan. They've got two years to stack reliability and performance on this car.

I love the styling of the car--they should've left this alone on the '10 LaCrosse. I hope the new one is better but I think I will wait to see what people say before I buy the new model LaCrosse.

I would not recommend this model to someone who is looking for a reliable car--you're better off getting a BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, or Acura.

Pros: What do you like about 2006 Buick LaCrosse?
The ride in this CXS is great and handling is as I had wanted (quicker and tighter than in other LaCrosse models packages).
The cabin is quiet.
The mileage for the 3.6 improved after about a 20,000 mile break in period to where I expected it to be in the first place.
The interior is also nice.
Appearance is good.

Equipment failures on this vehicles have been the following:
1) transmission failure at 12,500 miles requiring a complete re-build (under warranty),
2)front driver's side wheel hub bearing failure at 103,000 miles (repair cost $380.00),
3) power steering line failure at 95,000 miles (repair cost $430.00. Repair time 3 days.). I was told the power steering line used on my vehicle was only used on a small number of LaCrosses and is hard to locate. Since the transmission repair, when I let off the gas, accelerate from a stop or low speed I get a clunk. My previous car (a 1999 Regal turbo charged GS) did not have a transmission clunk when accelerating or letting off the gas.
I have had to replace all the head and tail light bulbs over the last year. This seems a little excessive. Current mileage 106,000.
As others have remarked the cup holder location is not ideal, but the CSX was designed to be more in the sports car area rather than a true sedan (in my opinion). The same goes for the trunk access. There is no handle to use in opening the trunk, nor does the trunk raise by itself once unlocked.

Performance and mechanical reliability could be better. Maintenance and items needing repair have been higher than anticipated for the miles on this vehicle and my past experience with Buick.

The size. When driving it just feels like it's a perfect size for us.

Dual exhaust on all models, not just the CSX. Also a sun roof that retracts into the headliner. This outer one increases road noice when open, unlike my former Riviera which was whisper quiet when open.

Basically this is an excellent car. A+ on style, comfort and performance. Too bad the 3800 is going away as an engine choice.

Beautiful Exterior. Comfortable and Extremely Quiet Interior. Smooth Ride. CXS has excellent handing characteristics for a sedan.

6 Speed Transmission!!!!Add porthole accents. Handle for Trunk.
Create additional cup holders that can hold 20 oz plastic bottles in lower door map holders.
