| Pros: What do you like about 2006 BMW 3-Series?
Balanced performance: superb handling, silky inline 6-cylinder engine (seems more powerful than its 215hp rating), great driving feel with rear-wheel drive plus 50/50 weight distribution.
Solid construction, classy exterior & interior design and materials. Even the Steptronic automatic is smooth and does not detract from the driving experience (spoken from a manual-shifter fanatic too). Cons: How would you improve 2006 BMW 3-Series?
Best in Class, but not perfect: make some "options" standard for the price (intelligent key fob, real leather, etc).
Needs better cupholders and more storage areas.
Turn signals are tricky to get used to.
Biggest mistake: heavy/loud/expensive run-flat tires with NO spare. I read that many owners are switching to cheaper & quieter normal tires plus two cans of Fix-A-Flat.
Fortunately I don't have I-drive, but from what I've read it's still a pain to use. 2006 BMW 3-Series Review:
Core BMW virtues shine through, even in my base 325i sedan with automatic. Still the benchmark for all other sport sedans to aim for. |

Work the bugs out of the new engine. Improve visibility for the controls (impossible to read if wearing sunglasses). 2006 BMW 3-Series Review:
I have owned this car for 5 months and it has been in the shop for a month and a half with engine problems. Cold start hesitation/misfire, rough idle and possibly the worst customer service I have ever received from any auto manufacturer. |

My wife and I love driving our 330-I. We have had the car about 18 months,and have approximately 17,500 miles on it. We took delivery at BMW's South Carolina delivery center, and would highly reccomend the experience to anyone purchasing a BMW. We are, I'm sure, far out of BMW's target demographic, being in our late 60's, but we both agree this is the best all around car we've had(and we've owned,among others,three Mercedes and one Porsche). |

THE HANDLING IS SUPERB. THE OLDER 330I I HAVE IS A LITTLE LESS POWERFUL AND IT LACKS THE 6 SPEEP TRANSMISSION, THIS IS A GREAT DRIVING CAR. Cons: How would you improve 2006 BMW 3-Series?

figure out a way to keep the parking lot rash off the sides and upgrade the paint. I have more nicks on the 06 in 10 M than I have on our 04 in 25M also dump the stupid i drive. I fly jets for a living and find I have more trouble trying to figure out how to use the over priced gps in the 06 than in an airplane..for 600 bucks you can purchase a great garmin nuvi350 that any dummy can turn on and use.. try that with the mickey mouse gps in a bmw with idrive..for only $2060.00 |

Generally speaking, it's a beautiful and well built automobile. The fit and finish is excellent. Unfortunately, the handling is severely compromised by the run flat tires and t he inability to substitute regualr tires in their place. What was once an almost perfect car is now simply OK. Cons: How would you improve 2006 BMW 3-Series?
In addition to the run flat tire problem, the sattelite radio is only mediocre and acknowledged as so by BMW. "Sorry but Sirrius only has a limited number of sattelites". I was trying yto figure out why BMW would contract with Sirrius if that is the case. 2006 BMW 3-Series Review:
Dry handling on flat roads is excellent. Handling on bumpy or pitted roads borders on flat out dangerous. Hail to the BMW chairman for choosing to save money by using run flats and compromising the safety and performance of the 3 series in the process. DOES THE AUDI "UNINTENDED BRAKING" PROBLEM RING A BELL TO ANYONE??? |

My 330xi sedan is well-designed and engineered. The all wheel drive is superb and the handling, with the sport package and 18 inch tires is certainly a match for my M3. Cons: How would you improve 2006 BMW 3-Series?
The only reservation I have is the size of the M90 series. It is significantly larger than my 1999 M3. As I considered a 550 Sport I don't feel much difference in size when behind the wheel. BMW shouldn't over-Americanize its products. |

Phenomenal handler. Interior is tight but sufficient. Controls are nice but overly complex, especially the turn signal quirk-stalk. Interior quality is excellent except for a cheap piece of plastic in the center of the central console. |

Quiet and composed at all speeds. Comfortable, just the right size for four adults. Performance that never disappoints. The power delivery is so smooth it doesn't feel like a reciprocating engine - turbine-like across the entire range of rpm. Traction and stability that works; never obtrusive, makes corrections faster than humanly possible (the analog ABS is brillant). Styling inside and out is pure luxury. This car is usually compared to larger, more powerful cars, but I think that is the BMW 3 Series advantage. Compact and capable. Not an SUV, finesse of a Porsche with 4 doors. 2006 BMW 3-Series Review:
I recently took delivery of a 2006 325xiT wagon in Munich. I drove the switchbacks in the Alps on snow covered roads and Autobahned for several hours. Total joy. BMW designers took the lineage of the 3 Series and crossed it with everything they've learned in the 5 and 7 Series. Bottom line: more fun, more luxury, high quality. No compromises, high value. |
