| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Pontiac GTO?
Nothing beats the power for the price. I bought a 2005 Yellow LS2 (they didn't make yellow in '06). After seeing one, I had to go yellow.
I was determined to buy a new Mustang. The 'Stang felt cheap, & 300hp wasn't very impressive. Stopped to look at a Mustang & got offer a ride in a GTO. That was all it took. I then drove a 6 speed. There was no question manual was "it".
Got mine with 1127 miles, w/SPI exhaust. Changed shifters, added better rubber 7 I LOVE THIS CAR!!! Cons: How would you improve 2005 Pontiac GTO?
Styling isn't as good as it could have been. Open rear wheelwells would have been easy & great. I may end up cutting mine & building flares.
A switched unlock button should have been added before '06.
A swaybar to help the wheel hop, other wheel options & renew the contract with Holden.
Come on GM, you can still call it an Impala SS. We haven't seen a real one of those sine the 90s. 2005 Pontiac GTO Review:
Best car I have had all around. I've had several Vettes, a Jaguar XKR, Trans Am, BMW 635, and other great rides. I'm keeping this Yellow '05 GTO & the Silver Anniversary Vette, I've had since high school. You will never regret buying one of these GTOs!!!!!! |

My '05 GTO is one of the all time great 'Q-ships'. Stealthy good looks combined with the Corvette V-8 make it so. Not to mention the seats which are great for all passengers, not just driver or front seat passenger. My GTO knows all about snow as well. With a set of 17's {mine is one of 71 cars that are silver with the automatic tranny and 18's} and four Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 snow tires, {unavailable as 18's}, the 4x4's that are all too common in this part of the country {Wyoming} are nothing more than rolling roadblocks. Thankfully, the limited-slip & traction control make short work of them. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Pontiac GTO?
Only a few missing options keep the car from being 'perfect'. If I was able to make the call to re-introduce the car, it would include an optional 6-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, an available sunroof, defeatable stability control with a competition mode, HUD {heads-up display}, heated & cooled seats, real Ram-Air, and a properly located fuel tank to free up some trunk space. But the 'bloated Cavalier' styling would stay. For all those who think the 04-06 GTO's "don't look like a GTO", I would like to remind them that all of the older GTO's looked like their entry-level counterpart. Remember the Tempest/Le Mans? That's what a GTO is! Looks like any other entry-level Pontiac, save for the hood, wheels & tires, but otherwise the same basic look, until the hood or throttle is opened. Anonymous looks with a hot engine is the formula for a GTO. If you want flash, buy something flashy. If you want to 'run silent, run deep', try a GTO; the combination is tough to beat. I LOVE THE POWER OF THE LS2 AND TORQUE.
I ALSO LIKE THE STYLING OF THE HOOD SCOOPS AND THE BODY LINES.
I ALSO LOVE THE LEATHER SEATS AND THE 6 DICS CHANGER.
I LIKE THE BLUE EXT. COLOR.
I LIKE THE RIMS AS WELL.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BETTER BRAKES AND A FUNCTIONAL HOOD SCOOPS.
POWER IS GOOD - MINE HAS LONG TUBE HEADERS, COLD AIR, DIABLO PROGRAMMER BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A NICE STREETABLE CAM AND HEADS INSTALLED.
I ALSO NEED SOME STICKER TIRES SO I CAN HAMMER ON IT WITHOUT IT GETTING SIDEWAYS. |

I installed a k&n air intake and a diablo predator tune . this woke up the ls2 motor. handles well, rides nice,seats are comfortable. Tranny is a little sloppy between second and third. Over all I love this car. Remember there is no replacement for displacement. |

Put bigger meats on the rear wheels.

A true musclecar just like the first ones...looks tame, but, hide and watch it go. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Pontiac GTO?
The rims. They should have been chrome and styled a bit different,I spend more time washing four rims then I do the entire car. 2005 Pontiac GTO Review:
Love it. GM had a great car, Ive raced mustangs honda 2000's and 350z. The Z was the closest but the gto always won and it nearly all steel, hood,front fenders, doors, quarterpanel and trunk lid...plastic? front and back bumper. I would not change the interior even though its hard to get in the back seats, its alot harder getting in the back of a Vette.
As for the small trunk that the "pros" dogged the GTO for... I DID NOT BUY IT FOR TRUNK SPACE ! Thats like giving bad marks to the Vette for being a two seater.
By the way on the highway from Fort Worth to Houston I averaged 24 mpg in the city around 16 mpg average is around 19 almost 20mpg where I drive.
My review?
Car & Driver can have their trunk space and gottahaveitfactor to sway the facts.
One fact remains. This GTO will beat any "stock" mustang honda or nissan, cant count shelby mustangs'thats not "stock" there are aftermarket gto builders that blow away shelbys ...were talking stock from the factory. |

less electronic "junk". The ignition key costs almost 200.00 by the time you get it programmed. It does'nt have a replaceable battery either. The stereo pin is hard to get if you don't have the "security card. |

i have own two yes two 2005 gto's i love them they do need beeter gauges in them oil for shure and the ls2 shure has alot of valve train noise gm tells me this is norm ? i also own a 2006 trail blazer ss and i have no valve train noise back to the gto the milage is good power is great if gm can have a factory cold air kit on the ss why not have it on the gto that hood is nice but should be functional |
