I like the interior room, trunk space and way the car handles in any type of weather (AWD model).
A classy, luxury car for the money.
Great look, great ride and great performance.

My only issue with this vehicle is the amount of brakes that were already replaced. The vehicle has 92,000 miles and has had 3 sets of brakes and rotors (not including the manufactured set that came with the car) installed and now the front end feels like the wheels are going to fall off. It's been in the shop twice for the front end noise and rattles and I've been advised that nothing is wrong! Either the mechanics are deaf or they are blasting the radio while driving but regardless, they should surely feel the vibrations on the front of the car and they don't seem to find anything. If I let a family member take a test drive without giving them any knowledge of the problems, they immediately pick up on this issue. I just don't understand why the mechanics don't feel or hear the problems. I guess if they can't put it on a diagnostic machine to tell them what is wrong, they aren't knowledgeable enough to figure it out! 2005 Ford Five Hundred Review:
Restructure the brakes and rotors as well as doing something with the suspension. This car is a great buy for the money but is a "diamond in the rough" at this point in time. Ford needs to stand behind these manufacturer defects to loyal Ford customers as myself and my family. The dealerships don't want to be bothered with anything that they can't make money regardless of the issues at hand. Disappointed by my repairs and issues and hope that it will be resolved in the near future. |

Amazing amount of interior room and trunk space!
We average 24.1 MPG in this big sedan.
Comfortably smooth ride. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Five Hundred?
The power steering whines like an alley cat; it has been flushed 3 times in 3 years and still comes back.
The transmission has been "reprogrammed" 2 times in 3 years to fix the sudden loss of acceleration from a dead stop.
The CD-6 radio is JUNK! It has been replaced 5 times in 3 years and each radio produces issues from CD skips, to static and whine in the speakers or popping in speakers.
Rotors went out within 6-7 months.
Replacement wipers are "unique" to this vehicle and expensive. 2005 Ford Five Hundred Review:
Overall, we enjoy this car, but the radio issue is a hassle and how the dealerships just can't get it right, is beyond belief and has taken a toll on us! This vehicle had so much potential, but the experiences are not worth it. I blame the dealerships more than the engineers. I have only had Ford vehicles for 20 years of driving experience and how they can produce me a 200k mile F150 and not even 10k mile sedan baffles me? This WILL be the LAST Ford sedan for us! |

The room inside and in the trunk are excellent.
Handling and ride are good.
The gas mileage is good.
Overall, a very nice car.
The 500 drives like a smaller car but has the room of a larger one. We have enjoyed this car. The styling inside and out is very nice. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Five Hundred?
Transmission problems at 70,000 miles threaten the car's reliability. The cost of repairs, by a Ford dealer, is estimated at approximately $1,400.00. We hope it fixes the problem which was stuttering when shifting up and down, and hard shifts when under a load. From reading other reviews, it appears that transmission problems are one of the car's faults. 2005 Ford Five Hundred Review:
Over-all, a very nice car, but problems with the transmission hamper the cars over-all reliability and longevity. |

Large passenger area and trunk. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Five Hundred?
Need a transmission that lasts. Have had numerous problems with the transmission. The transmission isn't reactive to the gas peddle. Hesitates when you need power. Has shifted hard when braking. Shifted hard when shifting under load while going up hills. They have recalibrated transmission with no success. I have been a loyal Ford buyer since 1990. |

Roomy.
Comfortable.
Great in Snow with the AWD.
I decided to buy it coming off lease. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Ford Five Hundred?
CVT trans went bad at 115,000 miles. Make a more reliable Trans. Foreign car transmissions are more dependable.
Driver's side heated seat did not last more than 75,000 miles. Make a better seat heater.
Rotors on brakes went bad fairly quickly, but replacements are much better. 2005 Ford Five Hundred Review:
Overall, I like the car. Love the roominess. The leather seats are comfortable. The ride is good, and handling is good, especially in snow with the AWD and 18 inch wheels. |

not a good buy. It burns a quart of oil every thousand miles, brake will shake you out of the car, rotors been turn three times by a ford dealer, popping noise in front and rear, trans down swifts when you take your foot off the gas, and only get 22.7 highway mpg. A BAD CHOOSE. |

I just purchased a used 2005 ford five hundred. I have no manual yet. I have to get a code for the doors from a ford dealer I was told. Great price, but I notice the car has two mileages one reads 41000 and other 66000. I will show the dealer this when I go to get my tags. Overall I love the car. It's larger then I thought. I have never driven a large car before. |
