Decent acceleration.
A bit roomy.
Nice trunk size.

My heat just stopped working at under 35,000 miles, I've had both head lights replaced already, I've replaced the tail lights three times. Rattle-loose feeling noise under suspension when driving over slightly rough surfaces as well as humps and bumps, which the dealership could never repair. Every once in a while the engine light comes on and the dealership found nothing wrong. I've had a defective tire rod, steering column, and other parts of the suspension-replaced at about under 30,000 miles. I've had to take this car to the shop way too many times, it's ridiculous! I'll never buy a Chevy again. Extended warranty plan is absurd. I'm extremely frustrated with this car. |

Lights always going bad and need changing, now what seems to be an elc. problem.

Lights are constantly blowing out. It seems to be a common problem, timing chain fell off at exactly 102,000 miles, feels awkward on turns. 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Review:

I have 85,000 miles on it now. The noise from the front end was there from the beginning. Now my power steering shuts off with no warning. Someone that is in the right position should start a class action against GM and its CEO and take back some of the perks they have and return it to all owners of 2005 Chevy Malibu's. noise reduction needs to be addressed. there is no way you can have all 4 windows opened at one time, unless you are standing still!!! 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Review:
I bought this car in july of 2005. so far I had the tail light bulbs burn out twice - had the back brakes replaced - and now the tuner on the radio went bad.
I was told by the dealer that the radio/cd player has to be switched out with another one for the low low price of $300 to $400.
I work close to home so I only have 24000 miles on it. I always had a chevy but this will be my last! |

The only positive things about this car are the trunk size, acceleration ability and ease of maneuvering. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
I'd suggest that GM meet with the designers of cars like the Accord, Camry and Altima to find out how NOT to make garbage. Or, if they choose to continue to manufacture defective cars they should at least slash their prices in half because the Malibu is overpriced. 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Review:
The workmanship is by far the worst I have ever seen. I bought a certified car with 21,000 miles on it. Since buying it I have driven less than 3000 miles and so far the struts and wheel bearings were found to be defective, something was cracked inside my dashboard and had to be taken apart and fixed and on Christmas Eve the back of this car literally sounded like it was falling apart on the road as I drove through a parking lot at 5 miles an hour! GM does not honor its responsibilities in making repairs and I had to scream at the dealership today to get them to address this latest problem. After GM saying everything is fine and me saying I refuse to pick this car up they have now decided that I'm right and the bushings are also defective. The minute I get this car back I'm rushing to Car Max to unload it. It will only be a matter of days until something else breaks. |

Replace all seats. Very hard, OK for short trips. Having trouble w/brake lights and shifter locks up just had that cable adjusted. Need noise reduction. 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Review:

better gas mileage 17 IN TOWN / 23 HWY. Driving in water up to under belly of floor board will suck water up into motor air intake manafold and blow valves through the engine block. Needs a vacuum release on intake going to air filter from under side of fender to prevent water from being sucked into engine manifold, Had to replace engine due to HEAVY RAIN 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Review:
