| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Style. Extra roomy interior--every time someone rides in the back seat they remark on it. Height from ground. Leather seats. Love, love, love! the open space between the front bucket seats and the armrest/storage bin that folds up out of the way (perfect for stashing my purse, storing books on tape, and hiding smaller shopping bags when I leave the car). Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Visibility really sucks due to over-sized posts on either side of the windshield. Need option to fold down head rests on rear seats to help rear visibility when rear seats are vacant. Improve gas mileage. Noisy ride--have to keep the sound system cranked up to hear it. Cheap looking plastic interior, paint chipping from radio knobs. The "?running boards?" that jut out on either side of the car. My legs ALWAYS hit them getting in/out of the car so I end up with dirt, salt, or mud on whatever I'm wearing.
The 2nd year the car went through a period of refusing to start. It was totally dead--no clicking or signs of life at all. I'd tow to the dealership and it would start fine for them. They could never find anything wrong. I think they finally got fed up with me and replaced the ignition. So far so good.
Now in year 4, I'm having a problem with the key getting stuck in the ignition. I'm not talking jiggle the steering wheel and it will slide out stuck. I'm talking I had to flag down two men in a parking lot to help me stuck. One yanked on the steering wheel while pulling on the key and the other laid on his stomach across the passenger seat pressing on the brake pedal with his hands. Somehow they got the key out. Two weeks later it happened again after dark and when I was alone. I tried the same moves they did and after several minutes the key very reluctantly and with much effort came out. I ruined my key chain I was pulling so hard. Now I'm careful to pull the key out very slowly so I can stop pulling when I feel it binding up.
The newest problems are some noises while driving especially on highway exit ramps. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: I never thought I needed or wanted an SUV until I was recovering from hip surgery. I had two requirements: the driver's seat needed to be the proper height from the ground plus I needed the slipperiness of leather seats to ease entry/exit to the car. Turns out the Equinox was the perfect height plus I could get leather seats in a reasonably priced vehicle. No more stress and strain on already painful joints. Of course, it didn't hurt I liked the look of the Equinox!
Overall, this car has worked out well for me and I'm glad I bought it. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I think it is very comfortable and I love the room it has. Contrary to what others say I think it is great on gas, to be an SUV. I love the buttons on the steering wheel. Five cupholders is probably my favorite things. I love almost everything about it. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I would make the radio and temperature buttons out of something where the paint won't come off. Install some handles above the doors. Have duel climate control. Make the buttons on the steering wheel so they don't stick when it is cold outside. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: I love my equinox and when the time comes to trade I will get another one. All of the things like brakes and other repairs people are complaining about are common with any car and has nothing to do with the way the car was built.
In 2004 I decided it was time to trade my ten year old Monte Carlo and I began looking around for another car. I saw on the Chevy website that they were coming out with the Equinox the next March, so I decided after reading up on it that Equinox would be my next car and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made and was well worth the wait. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Its sharp looking. Handles great. Roomy. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Radio button paint wearing off. Stains on interior from getting in car when raining. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: This is the best car I have ever owned and I plan to trade it in for a newer Equinox in a few years. It gives me a headache to see people complaining about things that have nothing to do with the car.
If your kid broke a cup holder that's your fault. If you get dents and dings that's not the car doing it, having touch ups done on the paint isn't the car's fault, how many cup holders do you really need? It has five.
No it's not that great on gas, it's an SUV. Why do you want to turn off day running lights that's a safety feature? If you're replacing breaks often you're breaking too hard and driving too fast.
Oh and the check engine light comes on because you need to reset the internal computer after you get an oil change, read your manual when you get the oil changed most likely the people you take it to don't know how to do it, look it up.
In short stop complaining about stuff that you would get from a car, you bought an SUV. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? It does well as an all wheel drive vehicle.
The interior is so cheaply made I use it as a van and haul hay and tools in the back. The dogs get in and don't seem to mind the fact that Chevy made the cheapest interior possible. But everyone else laughs at the poor quality and the result of Chevy's workmanship resulting in their hopeful demise.
So the only pro is entertainment and my lack of respect for the garbage heap of plastic they call interior trim so it relieves any stress I would have about nicks and dings. The interior is comparable to my daughter's Barbie-mobile. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? As far as improvements- The suspension is inferior and lacking strength under normal use. Have replaced struts and bushings twice in under 80k miles. My sister bought a ford SUV and no problems yet.
The radio- I have put 4 radios in the vehicle so far. They are about 700 to replace. Thank god for that extended warranty.
The entire ignition system totally sucks. Have had 4 ignition switches and 2 sets of keys and the wiring torn out and replaced. So ignition would have been better if they could have kept it simple- you know something like a manual choke- that's about Chevy competence levels.
A better heater- the vehicle frosts up on the inside as much as the outside. If you're wondering why, it's because the windshield seal has become so brittle it is almost gone. It should come with auto start so you can warm it up overnight so you can stand to touch the steering wheel on really cold days. And therefore you will need a larger fuel capacity- as you will probably burn a tank letting the old girl heat up. The estimated warm up time is about 30 minutes so go ahead and throw in poor fuel mileage as a con also. When the dealer says 20mpg, their Equinox must not run with ac/or heat nor pull hills or have any substantial load or head winds.
The road noise is extreme. If you happen to see Equinox owners with ear plugs or headphones in their ears, they are just trying to block out their constant humming, banging, clanging and constant thrust of road noise experienced over 25 miles an hr.
The air conditioner is inferior for the space of the vehicle. You will need to set all you family in the passenger seat while you drive, so as not to suffer heat exhaustion. Or you could run the ac wide open along with the windows and hope for the best. But then there is the problem with the windows.
Windows just quit - sometimes one at a time or two at a time. Control module on the console goes bad about every year and the motor for the power window stops also so you'd better have a back up plan. Maybe cardboard over one window for easy access to fresh air and safety in avoidance of heatstroke.
A more efficient engine - the engine seems to be very hungry, maybe because it's American. It likes to eat excess amounts of oil between changing intervals. But burning 2-3 quarts of oil at 8.2k miles is within Chevy specks, so you see they don't expect too much of an excellent product. So again, maybe we could borrow an engine from Toyota or some other manufacturer that cares about efficiency. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: Well here goes. The car looks nice outside, the inside looks like a plasticated garbage heap after 20k miles. The interior begins to stain even with the mildest use. The seats are uncomfortable until you break them down to a slither of fabric. The engine burns 2 quarts of oil between changes. The transmission slips and that also is a Chevy's acceptable standard. The suspension needs to be repurchased almost annually. Struts need to be kept in stock - they go out a lot. The tire changing tool fits the lug nut but when you try to turn the wrench the tool splits apart and makes changing a tire on the road impossible, until you experience the prank Chevy plays on all its customers and build your own tire changing kit from other products. The wheels are constantly picking up mud and causing a vibration - so if you go down a dirt road that is a little muddy, you need to wash your car on a rainy day before getting on the highway - unless you want to rotate and balance your tires - but the car wash is the cheapest answer. The car stinks and the dealer says they can never smell it - funny they should let the salesman inside to take a whiff- I know he had a good nose- he smelt a sucker walking in for another Equinox. The dealership waiting room where you buy your car should have all amenities because you will spend plenty of time there and long hours - get to know the people who screw you on your Chevy purchase. Never expect too much and always expect repairs and inferior performance, gas mileage and comfort. It does do well in the snow if your tires are knobby and you add weight to the rear. And you can always hope it gets stolen - and then they burn it - because if it comes back you are stuck with it and who needs two major auto disappointments. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Nice looking and just the right size for me and my family. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Changing brakes all the time. Radiator is over heating. No warning lights ever come on to tell me somethings wrong with car. Windshield does not take long to crack, had to replace windows. Always going off track and have to be put back in line. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I like the overall size of the vehicle. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Everything! I wish I would never have purchased this vehicle. The plan was to keep this vehicle for 10+ years. We haven't even made it half way or hit 100k and the car is falling apart!! Very poorly made. Chevrolet has lost one more consumer. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: 1) Transmission bad. 2) Check engine light is on. 3) Latch on the back passenger door quit working and the door would not close. 4) CD player quit working within 2 years. 5) Ignition stripped all thread from two keys so far. 6) Have to almost break the key off to get the car to start. 7) Suspension issues - fixed twice. 8) Replaced Brakes. 9) New tires needed at 40k. Hydroplaning(sp?) was a huge problem! 10) Paint chips obviously led to rust. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Roomy, that's it. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Radio buttons chipping, bad! (anyone know if these can be replaced?) I have this car just over 2 years and already had to replace tons of things; brake pads, had to have it towed 4 or 5 times this past year because of it not starting, they can't figure out what's wrong, they have replaced the battery twice, and wires and fuses. Getting to be very frustrating, and I can't trade in because of being so upside down!!!!!!! I do not recommend this car!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Like the style! Roomy. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Gas mileage. Interior stains easily and unable to clean easily. Paint is chipping off radio buttons. Seal on windshield came loose after two years. Replaced breaks at 50,000 and they told me I needed new rotors, still passed spec requirements on rotors so did not change them, I have never had to put rotors on a vehicle I owned (I take care of my cars). Gas tank sensors bad had to drop tank 3 x by dealer before fixed. Rear hub bearing replaced at 60,000. Both front sway bar bushings replaced at 70,000 due to clunking noise. Door check link on driver side replaced. Keys had to be replaced. and I do all regular and recommended maintenance to my vehicle. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: Can't wait for it to be paid off so I can get rid of it! |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Stereo sounds good. Heated seats are nice. Looks good. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Won't start promptly. Terrible smell coming from the vents,(smells like rotten milk) Drivers side window won't roll up. Gas mileage sucks. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: Loved the car when I bought it. When it reached 22,000 miles it all stated going down hill. I've had the sunroof relay switch replaced, the driver side door check strap replaced. Now my drivers side window will not go up. If I slam the door hard enough it will start working. My ignition seems to going out. When the car starts it keeps whinding and I have to turn the key back and sometimes it just does't wan't to start at all. Now I have a terrible smell coming from the vents. Smell like something died. I've read on other review sites that people have had smells coming from their vents and that a may be from Dex cool going bad. So back to the shop I go. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I have children, so I love the room. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? My Equinox has only 40,000 miles. I have replaced the brakes, rotors, hubs, tires, steering column, sway bar links, head light bulbs, windshield, and I have had to have touch-up work done to the paint 3 times all over (just from everyday driving). Half of the time, it takes an hour to start the stupid thing. When you do get it started, you have to go the perfect speed. I get a work out everyday just by trying to keep it in the road. When you drive very fast or real slow the front end and steering wheel shakes EXTREMELY bad. The doors were sticking and popping when they were opened or closed. I be dag-gone if I didn't have to buy little plastic pieces for that. They were expensive!! That pretty much sums it up! OH! OH! Do we have the space to talk about the inside??? Why would anyone make the interior of an SUV (family vehicle) so cheaply? The paint on the knobs of the radio and doors are gone. I have stains everywhere! *I have spent hundreds of dollars having it cleaned, but nothing or no one can get them out. The back cup-holder feel off when my daughter set her 20oz bottle of pop in it. Please tell me, where do you buy a replacement?? No dealer around here seems to be able to get a CUP-HOLDER! ~~Do I even need to mention that nothing seems to be covered.~~ 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: What happened to RECALLS????? Should have bought a FORD!!!!! |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Not one single thing. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I bought my Equinox 2 1/2 years ago and started having problems about 9 months later. First there was oil leaking into my coolant (luckily covered under warranty). The rear hatch lock broke and the wording on my warranty looked to me like it stated it should be covered but I had to pay for it. I was having to turn the key over 3-4 times to get the car to start so the spark plugs were replaced; that did seem to help. The car was shaking badly when I slowed and making a knocking sound when I turned so the roters and sway bar were replaced. Now the ABS and Traction Control lights come on and my breaks catch like I'm sliding on ice all the time and no one can seem to figure out the problem. I've spent almost $1,000 in parts alone in the last 60 days trying to fix the stupid thing. If anyone has had a similar problem with the ABS/Traction Control let me know!!! 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: SUCKS!!! |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? They look good once you do some extra modifications to them. The 1st year it was okay but then all kinds of problems occur. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I have had the Equinox for almost 2 years now. And I am beginning to have problems after problems. I noticed one person had mentioned that we should have test drove the car 1st before driving. I am pretty sure we all did that, but of course at that time none of the problems existed at that time. I am having problems with the car starting having to crank it over numerous of times before it will start. Not to mention now I am having problems with the key even turning at all in the ignition (as if the key is the wrong key) The tranny baring needs to be replaced so when you drive over 10-20 mph you here a loud winning noise like its super charged. Today I noticed that I have a yellowish oil leaking from somewhere on the passenger side because some thing is leaking and there is oil all in the right side of my wheel wells, and all over the passenger side of the suv. Interior paint is chipping and leather stains easily. Rattles like crazy. Sunroof won't slide back anymore but will lift up. Speakers suck. Man, I could go on and on, I am so ready to trade in this truck! 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: I would highly recommend choosing something else! |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Roomy....THAT'S IT Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? I've had to replace the bulbs in the headlight twice since purchase 1 1/2 yrs ago. The interior stains really easily. But the more serious issues are with the ignition problem (hesitation in starting, as though it's out of gas). The brakes are truly out of wack and have had to be replaced 3 times, now the roters and struts are going bad, only 60,100 miles on the vehicle. The stabilization of the automobile is really off, it sways and bounces all over. The noises throughout the cabin is horrible. I test drove the car before I bought it, but starting 1 month after I got it, there came trouble. GM is truly aware of the piece of junk that they've built in this car, they just don't care, that's why they're in the mess that they are in now. They get what they deserve, they don't care about the consumer, we don't care about them. It is the resposibility of those in charge (the CEO and COO's)to make sure that the quality of each vehicle is up to standards (YEAH! RIGHT), and even though they fired the CEO, he is still laughing all the way to the bank (70Million in Severance pay) RECALLS wait on it! OH I was suppose to be commenting on the "CONS" of the Equinox, got a little off track.....Again Crappy 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: TERRIBLE |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Roomy Great Stereo Love the leather and heated seats Sunroof Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Who puts a cup holder above a console? When your cup drips it gets all over whats under it. Starter was replaced within 60 days of buying it. Within a few weeks needed to be replaced again (although Chevy won't). About once a day it takes 3-5 times to start it. Paint chipped on radio, handles (inside car) I cannot use cd 4 anymore, it gets stuck and then I can't use any cd. If slowing down from 60+ it shakes terrible (even after tires had been rotated). HORRIBLE blind spots!!! 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: Work on your recalls! Radio, starter, brakes... I love the roominess of my Equinox, but I really hate everything else that is wrong with it. Had it a yr and seriously wanting to get rid of it. Scared I will get stuck out of town and it really won't start. |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? We like the look of this car. We get good gas mileage. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? The noise that comes when you open the moonroof is loud. The check engine comes on and the dealer doesn't know why. Some times it takes 5 to 6 times to start the car, again the dealers says has no ideal what causes it. Sometime it will run after the car starts. The dealer even gave me a lesson on how to start the car. And the paint on the door handles are coming off, paint on knobs on dash chipping off. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: We like the car but wish someone would do something about the starting of this car. I know there has to be something wrong with the starting because I have heard other Equinoxes doing the same thing. So why isn't GMC not recalling for the starting problem? |

| Pros: What do you like about 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Stylish. Roomy. Fun to Drive. Cons: How would you improve 2005 Chevrolet Equinox? Improved gas mileage...I don't get close to what was quoted. More cup holders. Wider back cargo area. Needs much better paint on the interior...doors and radio knobs especially. More recalls since so many people are experiencing the same issues. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: I bought my AWD LT Equinox new in 2004, first model year. Replaced tires at 42K and again at 74K. Also replaced brakes around 45K. Now my front end is making a humming noise that appears to be the wheel bearing and perhaps rotors and brakes from what I've read. Sunroof is loud. Overall, I really love the car for it's looks and size, but wish I wasn't replacing all these costly things. You would think GM would recall some of them since there are numerous reporting of the same issues. |

I WOULD IMPROVE THE OVERALL NOISES I HERE WHEN I TURN A CORNER. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AT 30,OOO MILES. I HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE MY KEYS WOULD NOT START THE CAR. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE IT HAS STARTED CRACKING. I WAS TOLD BY PEPBOYS THAT THE STRUTS ARE GONE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I ONLY HAVE 47,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. 2005 Chevrolet Equinox Review: I WISH I COULD GET SOMETHING SENT TO ME TO NOTIFY WHEN THERE IS A RECALL ON THINGS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED.
